2. Safety information
The following safety information must be observed in order to ensure maximum personal safety during the use of this device.
∙Do not use the meter if the meter or the test leads look damaged or if you suspect the meter is not operating properly.
∙Never ground yourself when taking electrical measurements. Do not touch exposed metal pipes, outlets, fixtures, etc., which might be at ground potential. Keep your body isolated from ground by using dry clothing, rubber shoes, rubber mats or any other approved insulating material.
∙Turn off power to the circuit under test before cutting, unsoldering, or breaking the circuit. Even small amounts of current can be dangerous.
∙Use caution when working above 60VDC or 30VAC rms as such voltages pose a shock hazard.
∙When using the probes, keep your fingers behind the finger guards on the probes.
∙Measuring voltage which exceeds the limits of the multimeter may damage the meter and expose the operator to electrical shocks. Always respect the meter voltage limits as stated on the front of the meter.

6. Operation
WARNING: Risk of electrocution. High voltage circuits, both AC and DC, are very dangerous and should be measured with great care.
1.ALWAYS turn the function switch to the OFF position when the meter is not in use. This meter has an auto OFF function that automatically switches the meter OFF after 15 minutes of inactivity.
2.If “OL” appears on the display during a measurement, the value exceeds the range you have selected. Change to a higher range.

NOTE: In some low AC and DC voltage ranges, with the test leads not connected to a device, the display may show a random, changing reading. This is normal and is caused by the high input sensitivity. The reading will stabilise and give a proper measurement when connected to a circuit.
MODE BUTTON
To select Diode/Continuity, DC/AC, Hz/%Duty
RANGE BUTTON
When the meter is turned on for the first time, it automatically goes into Autoranging mode. This mode automatically selects the best range for the measurements and is generally the best mode for most measurements. For measurements situations that require a manually selected range, perform the following actions:
1.Press the RANGE button. The “AUTO” indication on the display will disappear.
2.Press the RANGE button to go through the available ranges and you select the range you want.
3.Press and hold the RANGE button for 2 seconds to exit the ManualRanging mode and return to AutoRanging.
DATA HOLD BUTTON
The data hold function allows the meter to “freeze” a measurement for later reference.
1.Press the DATA HOLD button to freeze the reading on the display. The indicator “HOLD” will appear on the display.
2.Press DATA HOLD again to return to normal operation.
RELATIVE BUTTON
The relative measurement feature allows you to make measurements relative to a stored reference value. A reference voltage, current, etc. can be stored and measurements made in comparison to that value. The displayed value is the difference between the reference value and the measured value.
1.Perform any measurement as described in the operating instructions.
2.Press the RELATIVE button to store the reading in the display and the “REL” indicator will appear on the display.
3.The display will now indicate the difference between the stored value and the measured value.
4.Press the RELATIVE button to return to normal operation.
7. Measurements
DC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENTS
CAUTION: Do not measure DC voltages if a motor on the circuit is being switched ON or OFF. Large voltage surges may occur that can damage the meter.

1.Set the function switch to the V position (“mV” will appear on the display). The device will automatically select DC.
2.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (V) jack.
3.Touch the test probe tips to the circuit under test. Be sure to observe the correct polarity (red lead to positive, black lead to negative).
4.Read the voltage on the display. The display will indicate the proper decimal point and value. If the polarity is reversed, the display will show (-) minus before the value.
AC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENTS
WARNING: Risk of electrocution. The probe tips may not be long enough to contact the live parts inside some 240V appliance outlets because the contacts are recessed deep in the outlets. As a result, the reading may show 0V when the outlet actually carries voltage. Make sure the probe tips are touching the metal contacts inside the outlet before assuming that there is no voltage is present.
CAUTION: Do not measure AC voltages if a motor on the circuit is being switched ON or OFF. Large voltage surges may occur that can damage the meter.
1.Set the function switch to the V position. Press MODE to select AC voltage.
2.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (V) jack.
3.Touch the test probe tips to the circuit under test.
4.Read the voltage in the display. The display will indicate the proper decimal point, value and symbol (AC, V, etc.).
DC CURRENT MEASUREMENTS
CAUTION: Do not carry out current measurements on the 10A scale for a period longer than 30 seconds. Exceeding 30 seconds may cause damage to the meter and/or the test leads.
1.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack.
2.For current measurements up to 4000µ A DC, set the function switch to the µ A position and insert the red test lead banana plug into the (µ A) jack.
3.For current measurements up to 400mA DC, set the function switch to the mA range and insert the red test lead banana plug into the (mA) jack.
4.For current measurements up to 10A DC, set the function switch to the A position and insert the red test lead banana plug into the 10A jack.
5.Press the MODE button until “DC” appears in the display.
6.Remove the power from the circuit under test, then open up the circuit at the point where you wish to measure current.
7.Touch the black test probe tip to the negative side of the circuit. Touch the red test probe tip to the positive side of the circuit.
8.Apply power to the circuit.
9.Read the current on the display. The display will indicate the proper decimal point, value and symbol.

AC CURRENT MEASUREMENTS
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not measure AC current on any circuit with a voltage exceeding 250V AC.
CAUTION: Do not carry out current measurements on the 10A scale for a period longer than 30 seconds. Exceeding 30 seconds may cause damage to the meter and/or the test leads.
1.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack.
2.For current measurements up to 4000µ A AC, set the function switch to the µ A position and insert the red test lead banana plug into the (µ A) jack.
3.For current measurements up to 400mA AC, set the function switch to the mA range and insert the red test lead banana plug into the (mA) jack.
4.For current measurements up to 10A AC, set the function switch to the A position and insert the red test lead banana plug into the 10A jack.
5.Press the MODE button until “AC” appears in the display.
6.Remove power from the circuit under test, then open up the circuit at the point where you wish to measure current.
7.Touch the black test probe tip to the negative side of the circuit. And touch the red test probe tip to the positive side of the circuit.
8.Apply power to the circuit.
9.Read the current on the display. The display will indicate the proper decimal point, value and symbol.
RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect power to the unit under test and discharge all capacitors before taking any resistance measurements. Remove the batteries and unplug the line cords.
1.Set the function switch to the position.
2.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack and the red test lead banana plug into the positive jack.
3.Touch the test probe tips across the circuit or part under test. It is best to disconnect one side of the part under test so the rest of the circuit will not interfere with the resistance reading.
4.Read the resistance on the display. The display will indicate the proper decimal point, value and symbol.
CONTINUITY CHECK
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, never measure continuity on circuits or wires that have voltage on them.
1.Set the function switch to the position.
2.Insert the black lead banana plug into the negative (-) jack (COM) and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (+) jack ( ).
3.Press the MODE button until the symbol appears on the display.
4.Touch the test probe tips to the circuit or wire you wish to check.
If the resistance is less than approximately 30 , the audible signal will sound. The display will also show
the actual resistance.

DIODE CHECK
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not test any diode that has voltage on it.
1.Set the function switch to the position.
2.The symbol will appear on the screen.
3.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (-) jack (COM) and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (+) jack ( ).
4.Touch the test probe tips to the diode or semiconductor junction you wish to test. Write down the meter reading.
5.Reverse the probe polarity by switching probe position. Write down this reading.
6.The diode or junction can be evaluated as follows:
A.If one reading shows a value and the other reading shows OL, the diode is good.
B.If both readings show OL, the device is open.
C.If both readings are very low or 0, the device is shorted.
NOTE: The value indicated on the display during the diode check is the forward voltage.
FREQUENCY MEASUREMENT
1.Set the function switch to the Hz% position.
2.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (-) jack (COM) and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (+) jack (F).
3.Touch the test probe tips to the circuit under test.
4.Read the frequency on the display. The digital reading will indicate the proper decimal point, symbols (Hz, kHz) and value.
CAPACITANCE MEASUREMENTS
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect power to the unit under test and discharge all capacitors before taking any capacitance measurements. Remove the batteries and unplug the line cords.
1.Set the function switch to the CAP position (“nF” and a low value will appear in the display).
2.Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (-) jack (COM) and the red test lead banana plug into the positive (+) jack (CAP).
Touch the test leads to the capacitor to be tested. The display will indicate the proper decimal point, value and symbol.
TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect both test probes from any source of voltage before carrying out a temperature measurement.
1.If you wish to measure temperature in oF, set the function switch to the oF range. If you wish to measure temperature in oC, set the function switch to the oC range.
2.Insert the type K thermocouple probe black test lead banana plug into the negative COM jack and the red test lead banana plug into the positive TEMP jack.
3.Touch the temperature probe head to the part of which you wish to measure the temperature. Keep touching the part under test until the reading stabilises (about 30 seconds).
Read the temperature on the display. The digital reading will indicate the proper decimal point and value.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect the test leads from any source of voltage before removing the battery door.
1.When the batteries are exhausted or drop below the operating voltage, “BAT” will appear in the right-hand side of the LCD display. The battery should be replaced.
2.Follow instructions for installing a battery. See the battery installation section of this manual.
3.Dispose of the old battery properly.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not operate your meter until the battery door is in place and fastened securely.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect the test leads from any source of voltage before removing the battery door.
1.Disconnect the test leads from the meter.
2.Open the battery door by loosening the screw using a Phillips head screwdriver.
3.Insert the battery into battery holder, observing the correct polarity.
4.Put the battery door back in place. Secure with the two screws.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not operate your meter until the battery door is in place and fastened securely.
NOTE: If your meter does not work properly, check the fuses and battery to make sure that they are still in good operating condition and that they are properly inserted.
REPLACING THE FUSES
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, disconnect the test leads from any source of voltage before removing the fuse door.
1.Disconnect the test leads from the meter and any item under test.
2.Open the fuse door by loosening the screw on the door using a Phillips head screwdriver.
3.Remove the old fuse from its holder by gently pulling it out.
4.Install the new fuse into the holder.
5.Always use a fuse of the proper size and value (0.5A/250V fast blow for the 400mA range, 10A/250V fast blow for the 10A range).
Put the fuse door back in place. Insert the screw and tighten it securely.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, do not operate your meter until the fuse door is in place and fastened securely.

2. Informatie omtrent de veiligheid
Respecteer volgende punten om de maximale veiligheid gedurende het gebruik te garanderen.
∙Gebruik de meter niet wanneer de meter of de meetsnoeren sporen van beschadiging vertonen of de meter niet naar behoren functioneert.
∙Isoleer uzelf tijdens metingen. Raak nooit metalen buizen, toestellen enz. aan die potentieel gevaarlijk kunnen zijn. Draag droge kledij en rubberen schoenen of sta op een rubberen mat.
∙Ontkoppel het te testen toestel van het lichtnet alvorens het circuit te onderbreken. Zelfs een kleine stroomstoot kan gevaarlijk zijn.
∙Wees voorzichtig wanneer u spanningen van 60VDC / 30VAC rms of meer werkt om elektroshocks te vermijden.
∙Houd uw vingers achter de bescherming wanneer u de meetsnoeren gebruikt.

6. Gebruik
WAARSCHUWING: Elektroshocks. Hoge spanningen, zowel AC als DC, zijn zeer gevaarlijk. Wees voorzichtig tijdens metingen.
1.Plaats de draaischakelaar ALTIJD op OFF wanneer het toestel niet wordt gebruikt. Deze meter is uitgerust met een automatische uitschakeling na 15 minuten.
2.Wanneer “OL” tijdens een meting op de display verschijnt, dan overschrijdt u het gekozen bereik. Kies een hoger bereik.

OPMERKING: Het is mogelijk dat, wanneer de meetsnoeren niet in de meter zitten, het LCD-scherm een willekeurige en wisselende waarde weergeeft, meestal in de lage wisselspanningsen gelijkspanningsbereiken. Dit is normaal en is te wijten aan de gevoeligheid. De waarde stabiliseert zich en wordt nauwkeurig wanneer u de meetsnoeren aan een circuit sluit.
MODE
Selecteren van diode/continuïteit, DC/AC, Hz/%Duty
RANGE
Wanneer u de meter voor het eerst inschakelt, dan stelt hij zich automatisch in de autoranging mode. Deze modus selecteert automatisch het meest geschikte bereik voor uw meting en is doorgaans de beste meetinstelling. Ga als volgt te werk wanneer u manueel het bereik wenst in te stellen:
1.Druk op RANGE. “AUTO” verdwijnt van de LCD.
2.Druk op RANGE om de beschikbare bereiken weer te geven en selecteer het gewenste bereik.
3.Houd RANGE gedurende 2 seconden ingedrukt om de manuele instellingsmodus te verlaten en om naar de autoranging terug te keren.
DATA HOLD
Met deze functie kunt u de weergegeven waarde op het scherm vastzetten en als referentie gebruiken.
1.Druk op DATA HOLD om de waarde vast te zetten. “HOLD” verschijnt op het scherm.
2.Druk opnieuw op DATA HOLD om naar de normale gebruikersmodus terug te keren.
RELATIVE
Met deze kunt u metingen verrichten en deze vergelijken met een opgeslagen waarde. U kunt een referentiewaarde, bvb. een spanning, stroom enz. opslaan en metingen verrichten. De weergegeven waarde is het verschil tussen de referentie en de meting.
1.Verricht een meting zoals beschreven in deze handleiding.
2.Druk op RELATIVE om deze waarde op te slaan. “REL” verschijnt op de LCD.
3.De LCD geeft nu het verschil tussen de opgeslagen referentiewaarde en de gemeten waarde.
4.Druk op RELATIVE om naar de normale gebruikersmodus terug te keren.
7. Metingen
METEN VAN GELIJKSPANNINGEN
OPGELET: Verricht geen gelijkspanningsmetingen terwijl u de motor van een circuit inof uitschakelt. Hoge spanningspieken kunnen de meter beschadigen.

1.Plaats de draaischakelaar op V (“mV” verschijnt op de LCD). De meter kiest automatisch DC.
2.Koppel het zwarte meetsnoer met de negatieve (COM) bus en het rode meetsnoer met de positieve (V) bus.
3.Raak het te testen circuit met de sondes. Respecteer de polariteit (rode meetsnoer naar positief, zwarte meetsnoer naar negatief).
4.Lees de weergegeven waarde. De LCD geeft het decimale punt en de waarde weer. Werd de polariteit omgekeerd, dan verschijnt (-) op de LCD.
METEN VAN WISSELSPANNINGEN
WAARSCHUWING: Gevaar voor elektroshocks. Het is mogelijk dat de sondes te kort zijn en u de te meten contactpunten in enkele 240V-toestellen niet kunt bereiken. De waarde op de LCD is dan 0V, ook al staat het toestel onder spanning. Zorg ervoor dat de sondes het circuit raken alvorens te concluderen dat het toestel niet onder spanning staat.
OPGELET: Verricht geen gelijkspanningsmetingen terwijl u de motor van een circuit inof uitschakelt. Hoge spanningspieken kunnen de meter beschadigen.
1.Plaats de draaischakelaar op V. Druk op MODE om AC te selecteren.
2.Koppel het zwarte meetsnoer met de negatieve (COM) bus en het rode meetsnoer met de positieve (V) bus.
3.Raak het te testen circuit met de sondes.
4.Lees de weergegeven waarde. De LCD geeft het decimale punt, de waarde en het symbool (AC, V enz.) weer.
METEN VAN GELIJKSTROOM
OPGELET: Verricht geen metingen gedurende langer dan 30 seconden met een bereik van 10A om beschadiging aan de meter en/of meetsnoeren te vermijden.
1.Koppel het zwarte meetsnoer met de negatieve (COM) bus.
2.Voor gelijkstroommetingen tot 4000µ A, plaats de draaischakelaar op µ A en koppel het rode meetsnoer met de (µ A) bus.
3.Voor gelijkstroommetingen tot 400mA, plaats de draaischakelaar op mA en koppel het rode meetsnoer met de (mA) bus.
4.Voor gelijkstroommetingen tot 10A, plaats de draaischakelaar op A en Koppel het rode meetsnoer met de 10A-bus.
5.Druk op MODE tot “DC” op de LCD verschijnt.
6.Schakel de voeding van het te testen circuit uit. Onderbreek het circuit en verricht de meting.
7.Raak de negatieve zijde van het circuit met het zwarte meetsnoer. Raak de positieve zijde met het rode meetsnoer.
8.Schakel de voeding in.
9.Lees de weergegeven waarde. De LCD geeft het decimale punt, de waarde en het symbool weer.
