The D8224 Mullion Reader is a Wiegand protocol reader designed for installation on a door mullion. Mount the reader directly to metal surfaces with minimal effect to the read range performance.
Functions
Easy Mounting
The D8224 Mullion Reader is designed to fit a junction box supplied with each reader. For easy installation, the junction box surface mounts with two screws. The slim, unobtrusive enclosure mounts directly onto metal surfaces, such as door mullions.
Beeper and LED Configurations can be Host and Locally Controlled
When a proximity card is presented to the reader, the red LED flashes green and the beeper sounds. Both the beeper and LED configurations can be controlled individually by the host system.
Indoor and Outdoor Design
The rugged, weatherproof polycarbonate enclosure of the D8224 provides resistance to weather extremes and vandalism.

Connection Considerations
The acceptable wire length from the door controller to the reader is up to 500 ft (152 m) when using 22 AWG (0.8 mm) cable.
