Exit Trays

Top (Face Down) Exit Tray

This is the exit tray that is normally used.

For papers up to 47 lb. US Bond (176 g/m2).

Holds up to 250 sheets of 20-lb. US Bond (75 g/m2) paper.

Sheets exit face down.

Rear (Face Up) Exit

Tray

Provides straight-through, curl-free print path for transparencies, envelopes, labels and heavy paper.

Handles paper from 17 to 54 lb. US Bond (64 to 203 g/m2).

Holds up to 100 sheets of 20-lb. US Bond (75 g/m2) paper.

Sheets exit face up (for multi-page documents, select reverse order printing in your application Print dialog box).

Note

If the rear tray is open, all printed pages will exit there regardless of the printer driver setting.

General Information

Why Change Media Settings?

Always make sure the media setting matches the print media you are using.

Improper media settings:

cause poor quality printing

cause flaking

can damage the printer

Printer Driver Versus Printer Menu

Print media settings can be made in the printer driver or in the printer menu.

Printer driver settings override printer menu settings.

Default Media Weight Settings

The default media weight setting for all trays is Medium (20 to 27 lb. US Bond [75 to 101 g/m2]).

Changing Defaults

Resetting to the Original Defaults

1.Press ENTER.

2.Press - repeatedly until you see MAINTENANCE MENU on the display.

Media Settings for Individual Print Jobs

If you are printing a job on special media, you can temporarily load the media in a tray and change the media settings for that tray in the driver as you print the job.

Power Save

Power Save sets how long the printer waits before going into standby mode. This saves energy, but the printer requires time to warm up when it receives a print job or if you want to enter the menu and change settings.

BACK Button

In the Menu mode, press BACK to go back to the previous Item or Category, or to place the printer back on line.

Press + to enter the Menu mode or to go to the next Category, Item or Value in the Menu.

Press and hold this button to advance rapidly through the entries.

– Button

Press – to go back to the previous Category, Item or Value in the Menu.

Press and hold – to rapidly advance backwards rapidly through the entries.

ENTER Button

Press ENTER to enter the Menu mode.

When the printer is n the Menu mode, press ENTER to select a Category or Item to change. Once you have changed the setting to a new Value, press ENTER to engage the Value.

ON LINE Button

Press ON LINE to switch the printer between on line and off line status.

When the printer is in the Menu mode, press ON LINE to exit the Menu mode and return the printer to on line.

If there is a paper size mismatch error, press ON LINE to force the job to print.

Press ON LINE to start a manual print job from the MP Tray once paper has been loaded.

If there is a memory overflow, press ON LINE to recover and place the printer back on line.

CANCEL Button

Press and hold CANCEL to stop printing the current job.

When the printer is in the Menu mode, press CANCEL to exit the Menu mode and place the printer back on line.

Ready Light (Green)

On: printer is on line. Off: printer is off line.

Flashing: printer is receiving data.

Attention Light (Red)

On: Warning or Error status Off: Normal status. Flashing: Alarm status

Appears on the second line of the display to indicate that the lever for the toner cartridge color indicated is not pushed all the way back.

What to Do

Open the cover. Push the lock lever toward the back of the printer as far as it will go. Close the cover. If this does not clear the message, call your local service dealer.

XXXX ORDER TONER

Appears on the second line of the display to indicate that color XXXX toner cartridge is getting low.

Note

If you have changed the LOW TONER item in the SYSTEM CONFIG MENU to STOP, the ATTENTION light will blink and you must either replace the toner cartridge immediately or press ON LINE to continue printing.

What to Do

Be sure you have a genuine OKI replacement toner cartridge (see page 2) on hand.

INSTALL NEW TONER nnn: XXXX TONER EMPTY

The toner cartridge indicated (XXXX) has run out of toner.

What to Do

Replace the toner with a genuine OKI Toner Cartridge (see page 2).

TONER NOT

INSTALLED XXXX

Toner XXXX is missing or an incorrect toner cartridge is installed. When this message appears, the printer stops after every 20 pages. To continue printing, you must open and close the top cover.

What to Do

Replace the toner with a genuine OKI Toner Cartridge (see page 2).

NON GENUINE

TONER XXXX

The toner cartridge indicated (XXXX) is not a genuine OKI Toner Cartridge. When this message appears, the printer stops after every 20 pages. To continue printing, you must open and close the top cover.

What to Do

Remove the toner cartridge and replace it with a genuine OKI Toner Cartridge (see page 2).

XXXX DRUM LIFE

Appears on the second line of the display to indicate that color xxxx (e.g, black) image drum needs to be replaced.

What to Do

Replace the xxxx image drum. (See the instructions supplied with the new image drum.)

INSTALL ADDITIONAL MEMORY 420: MEMORY OVERFLOW

The amount of data in the file being printed has exceeded the printer’s memory.

What to Do

Reduce the size of the file being printed (e.g., print the file as separate groups of pages instead of all the pages at one time).

Install additional memory in the printer (see your on-line User’s Guide for more information).

LOAD XXX IN MP TRAY

AND PRESS ONLINE SWITCH

The printer has received a job for printing from the Multi-Purpose Tray and no media is loaded in the tray.

What to Do

Load the requested media (xxx) in the Multi-Purpose Tray, then press ON LINE.

TRAY t EMPTY

Appears on the second line of the display to indicate that the media in tray t is almost out.

What to Do

Load more media in the tray before printing any large print jobs from that tray.

CHECK FUSER

320: FUSER MISSING

The fuser is not properly installed.

What to Do

Open the top cover and check the fuser:

1.Press down on the fuser to be sure it is firmly locked in place. The message should disappear.

Note

If the message still appears, push the blue latches at either end of the fuser back (toward the printer cover hinge) and lift the fuser out, then lower it back into the printer, pushing it firmly down in place. You should feel the latches at either end engage.

2. Close the cover.

PRESS ONLINE SW INVALID DATA OR TIMEOUT

The hard disk drive is not available and job spooling cannot take place.

What to Do

Press the ON LINE button.

CANCELING JOB (USER DENIED)

The Job Accounting software has detected a print job from a user who is either

not authorized to print or

trying to print a color job and only authorized to print black and white jobs.

What to Do

The user should contact the system Administrator to see if their authorization can be changed.
