Problem

Service is aware of several issues with the CE Connector including bent pins, damaged plastic ribs, contamination, and solderability due to co-planarity.

Solution

Development Engineering has requested that if a 09-87636K05 needs to be replaced, then replace with a 09-87636K07. The K07 connector will assist in reducing field failures arising from bent pins, damaged plastic ribs, and co-planarity. The K07 connector will not reduce field failures due to contamination.

The K07 connector will be used on new shipping products and migrated into additional products designated by Development Engineering. The above CDMA products have been identified by Development Engineering that should receive the K07 as a replacement part. And as sourcing requirements dictate, the connector will be migrated to the GSM and TDMA products.

Service Action

When servicing customer returns of the models listed above and if the analysis determines that the CE connector needs to be replaced. Replace the 09-87636K05 with the 09-87636K07 connector.

Stock 09-87636K07 for the above models listed

Continue using 09-87636K05 on GSM and TDMA products that are shipping with the

09-8736K05.
