2. Insert the SIM card into the card slot with the cut corner oriented as shown..

3. Carefully insert the battery with the contacts located against the metal springs.. Push down on the battery until it is fully seated..

Inserting a microSDHCcard

1.Open the microSDHC card slot and insert a microSDHC card (not included) with the gold-colored contacts facing the front of the phone..

2.Close the microSDHC card slot..

Removing the battery and

SIM/microSDHC card

1.Power off your phone..

2.Remove the back cover..

3.Lift the battery up and out..

4.Slide the SIM card out..

5.Open the microSDHC card slot and push in on the card until you hear a click.. Once you release the card it should pop out of the phone..

Charging the battery

Note:For best performance, charge the battery fully prior to using the phone for the first time..

1.Insert the charger’s connector into the charging port.. Be sure to insert the connector in the correct orientation..

Do not force the connector into the port..

2.Plug the charger into a standard AC wall outlet..

3.When the battery is fully charged, unplug the charger and disconnect it from the phone..

Switching your phone on/off

Make sure the SIM card is in your phone and the battery is charged..

Press and hold the Power key to turn on your phone..

To turn it off, press and hold the Power key to open the options menu..

TapPower off> OK ..

Setting up your phone for the first time

When you first power on your phone after you purchase it or reset it to factory settings (seePhone settings – Factory reset), you need to set up your phone settings before using it..

1.Scroll the language list to highlight the language you need and then tapStart ..

2.If you have a Gmail account, tap Yes to sign in to Google..Tap No if you do not have an account..

3.To create a Google account, tap Get an account..You can also tap Not now to set up an account later..

4.Configure the Google location options and tap ..

5.Input your name and tap ..

6.Read the Google services information and tap ..

7 Tap Finish to complete setup..

Switching to Sleep Mode

To save battery power, Sleep Mode suspends your phone in a low-power- consumption state while the display is off.. Your phone also goes into Sleep Mode by itself when the display is automatically turned off after a certain

Use the touch screen to control your phone..The controls on your touch screen change dynamically depending on the tasks you’re performing..

1.Tap the buttons, icons, or applications to select items or to open applications..

2.Keep your finger on an item to see the available options..

3.Swipe the screen to scroll up, down, left, or right..

4.Drag and drop to move particular items across the screen..

5.Pinch with two fingers or double-tap the screen to zoom in/out on a web page or an image..

1. From the home screen, pinch two fingers quickly together..

1. From the home screen, tap > Wallpaper..

3Tap Gallery,Live wallpapersorWallpapersand choose the image or animation you want to use as the wallpaper.. Some cropping may be needed for Gallery images..

4 Tap Done(for Gallery images) orSet Wallpaper ..

Note: Live wallpapers are not available for the lock screen..

Adding items to your home screen

1Tap ..

2Tap the Apps,Widgets, orShortcutstab, depending on what you want to add..

3.Tap and hold the icon of the item you wish to add and then drag it to the spot on the home screen where you want it located..

Adjusting widget size

1.Tap and hold a widget on the home screen and then release it..

2.An outline appears around the widget.. Drag the outline to resize the widget..

Note: Not all widgets can be resized..

Removing items from your home screen

1..Tap and hold the item you want to delete until Removeappears on the screen..

2..Drag the item to Remove and release your finger when the item turns red..

Creating a folder

1.On a home screen, tap and hold an app icon and drag it to Folder..

2.You can add more apps to the folder by dragging icons to the folder..

3.Tap the folder to open it and access items in the folder..

4.To name the folder, open it and tap Folder..

5.Enter a name and tap Done..

Deleting items from a folder

1.Tap a folder to open it..

2.Tap and hold an icon and drag it to Remove.. Release the icon when it turns red..

Weather/clock widget

Customizing the widget

To add the weather for a city, tap the weather portion of the widget > Add city..Tap a major city name or enter a name to search for it..

Note: Your phone will automatically add the weather for your current location via GPS..

If you have more than one city added to the widget, swipe left or right on the weather screen to switch between cities..

To view detailed weather information, including forecasts, tap the temperature..

To delete the widget, tap and hold it and drag it to Remove..

Indicator light

The Indicator light will be red for 10 seconds when the phone is powered on and when the battery is low (less than 5%).. It also indicates battery charging status and other information as follows:

Using the Notifications panel

The Notifications panel provides quick access to alerts including new messages, emails, and software updates..

To open the Notifications panel, swipe your finger down from the top of the screen..

To close the Notifications panel, swipe your finger up from the bottom of the screen or tap ..

Respond to or remove a notification

You can respond to or remove notifications in the Notifications panel..The panel also supports expandable notifications that let you perform additional actions..

To respond to a notification, tap it..

To expand a notification, slide down with one finger..You can also swipe two fingers

vertically or pinch/zoom to expand or collapse certain notifications..

To remove a notification, swipe it left or right..

To remove all notifications, tap in the top right corner..

To turn off notifications from an application, tap and hold a notification and then tapApp info .. Uncheck Show notifications in the app info screen..

Most apps that send notifications, such as Gmail and Google+, have notification settings that you can adjust..

Note:If you turn off notifications for an app, you may miss important alerts and updates..The notifications of some apps cannot be turned off..

Using Quick Settings

The Quick Settings above the Notifications panel make it convenient to view or change the most common settings for your phone..

Open the Notifications panel and you can find the following Quick Settings on the top of the screen.. Slide left or right to view the setting options..

Auto Rotate: Tap to turn the auto-rotate feature on or off..

Wi-Fi: Tap to turn Wi-Fi on or off..

GPS: Tap to turn GPS on or off..

Sound: Tap to turn the silent mode with vibration on or off..

Data: Tap to enable or disable data access over the mobile network..

Sync: Tap to turn the auto-sync feature on or off.. When auto-sync is on, changes you make to account information on the web or on your phone are automatically synced..

Airplane: Tap to turn airplane mode on or off.. Enabling airplane mode turns off voice and data transmission..

How to make calls

There are many ways to make a call with your phone, and they’re all easy to do..

Calling from the dialer

1.From the home screen, tap ..

2.Enter the phone number with the on-screen keypad.. Tap to delete wrong digits..

Calling from your contacts

Calling from your call history

Calling from a text message

If a text message contains a phone number that you want to call, you can make the call while viewing the text message..

2.Tap the conversation and then find the message that contains the phone number you need..

Using speed dial

Tap and hold the1–9 keyfrom the dialer to call the corresponding speed dial number..

The1 key is reserved for your voicemail..

Assigning a speed dial key

1. From the home screen, tap > Call Logor Phone ..

2.In the Phone or Call Log tab, tap > Settings> Speed dial ..

3.Tap a speed dial key..

4.Enter a phone number or tap to select one from the contact list..

5Tap OK..

Note: You can also set your speed dial keys from the dialer.. Press and hold the 2-9 Keyand then tapOK ..

How to receive calls

Answering a call

Drag to the center of the screen to answer the call..

Rejecting a call

Drag to the center of the screen to reject the call..This will prompt the caller to leave a voicemail message for you..

Drag to the center of the screen to send a text message to the caller.. Choose the default message or send a custom one..

Muting a call

During a call, you can mute your microphone so that the person you are speaking to cannot hear you, but you can still hear them..

TapMute to turn your microphone off.. To turn your microphone back on, tapMute again..

Putting a call on hold

During a call, you can put it on hold by tappingHold ..

Tip:If you accept an incoming call while you’re on another call, the first call automatically goes on hold..Tap Swap to switch between the two callers..

Turning the speakerphone on/off

TapSpeaker during a call to turn the speakerphone on.. Tap Speakeragain to turn off the speakerphone..

Entering text

When you tap a field that needs text or numbers, a keyboard automatically appears on the screen.. Open the Notifications panel and tap Choose input method to change input method..

Android keyboard

The Android keyboard provides a layout similar to a desktop computer keyboard..Turn the phone sideways and the keyboard will change from portrait to landscape..

To use the landscape keyboard, tapAutothe rotate screencheck box in

> System settings> Accessibility ..

Note: The landscape keyboard is not supported in all applications..

Tap the alphabetic keys to enter letters..Tap and hold the keys to enter associated accented letters or numbers.. For example, to enter È, tap and
