General precautions
•Do not use this product for the purpose to protect a human body or part of a human body.
•This product is not intended for use as an explosion-proof product. Do not use this product in a hazardous location and/or potentially explosive atmosphere.
•We recommend that you take substantial safety measures to avoid any damage in the event a problem occurs.
•If the BL-1300 is modified or used in any way other than described in the specifications, its function and performance cannot be guaranteed.
•When the BL-1300 is used in combination with other instruments, the function and performance may be effected by operating conditions and the surrounding environment.

The BL-1300 Series barcode readers are equipped with the following safety measures.
• Laser radiation emission warning LED (LASER LED)
During laser emission, the LASER ON LED illuminates. The LED ON status can be clearly visible through protective eyewear; specifically designed for the wavelength of 660nm.
• Laser forced OFF command
Sending the laser forced OFF command to the BL-1300 can inhibit emission of laser beams. When working near the laser transmitter, be sure to use the laser forced OFF command to avoid looking into the laser beams.
*When this command is selected, the bottom STABILITY LED flashes.
IEC warning/explanatory label locations

Use the suitable IEC warning/explanatory label included in the package of this product according to the countries and/or regions where this product is used.
In this case, it can be affixed on the IEC warning/explanatory label, which has already been affixed to this product.

For proper use of this product
Precautions on use
•The BL-1300 uses a 5 V DC power supply. Using a different voltage level may damage the unit. When using the KEYENCE power supply unit N-R2, N-R4, N-UB, N-L1, NX-50 Series or DV-90 Series, select the voltage level which can be supplied by the power supply unit. If a nonconforming power supply is connected, the BL-1300 may be damaged.
•Before connecting or disconnecting the cable, be sure to turn off any device connected to the BL-1300 Series. Otherwise, the BL-1300 Series may be damaged.
•Do not disassemble or modify the BL-1300 Series, as this may cause product failure.
•Locate cables as far as possible from high-voltage lines and power lines. Otherwise, generated noise may cause product failure or malfunctions.
•Before mounting the BL-1300 Series, insulate the mounting location. Otherwise, generated noise may cause product failure or malfunctions.
•The BL-1300 is a precision instrument.
Dropping the unit or subjecting it to shock may cause damage. Be careful when unpacking, carrying, an
mounting it. Do not

cables.
• Do not hold the units by their cables when carrying them. The units may hit each other and become damaged.
If abnormal conditions are encountered
If the following conditions are encountered, turn off the power supply unit immediately. Continuing to use the BL1300 Series under abnormal conditions may cause fire, electric shock, or product failure. Contact your nearest KEYENCE sales office (listed at the end of this manual) for repairs.
•Water or foreign matter enters the BL-1300 Series.
•The BL-1300 Series is dropped or the housing is damaged.
•The BL-1300 Series produces smoke or an abnormal smell
