Precautions for Use

For precautions concerning safe use, as well as regulations and standards, refer to the “FS-N10 Series Instruction Manual”.

Difference with the Standard Type

The Water resistant type FS-N15C and the FS-N11C (FS-N10 Series standard 1 output M8 connector main unit) differ in the following aspects.

Protective structure IP66 (IP65 when the Small-diameter fiber unit is used)

There is no expansion connection, expansion unit connection and interference prevention function is not supported

Interference prevention ( ), common key operation function ( ) is not operational

Main unit/ cover material

There are two types of adapter for connecting a Fiber Unit (thin fiber unit) with a fiber cable with a diameter of ø1 or ø1.3, one of each type is included.

Installing the Fiber Unit

When installing the Small-diameter fiber unit, always use the water-resistant adapter included with the FS-N15C .

If the standard adapter included with the Fiber unit instead of the water-proof adapter included with the FS-N15C is used, the protective structure IP65 cannot be met.

*For selection of a fiber unit

The use of a fiber unit which specifies its IP is recommended.

In the case of a fiber unit covered with fluorine resin, please make sure that water does not come into the gap between fibers (black) and the fluorine resin.

*3 About the protective structure when a small-diameter fiber unit (the diameter of the cable is ø1.3 or ø1.0) is used. IP66/IP65 cannot be satisfied when the type whose diameter is ø1.3 and terminal can be separated (FU-4F/ 66/91/ 93/43/63/63T etc.) is used.

When any small-diameter fiber units except for the above are used, IP65 is applied. *4 In any of the following cases, the protective structure IP66/IP65 cannot be satisfied.

When the Fiber Unit and KEYENCE’s M8 connector cable are not connected (Recommended conditions to tighten up the M8 connector: Tighten it by hand first. Then retighten it as much as 1/16-1/8 of a rotation with pliers.)

When the dust cover of the Sensor Amplifier is open

When there is debris in the dust cover

When the waterproof adapter A/B are not used at the time of installation of a small-diameter fiber unit.
