To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.
POWER SOURCE
This unit can be operated using the AC power cord or batteries.
Using the supplied AC power cord
1.Place the player on a flat stable surface.
2.Plug the power cord into the AC~ socket located on the rear of the player ensuring that the plug is pushed fully into the jack.
3.Plug the other end of the power cord into the mains socket.
The STANDBY indicator light will illuminate.
The mains socket used for the player must remain accessible during normal use. In order to disconnect the player from the mains, the mains plug should be removed from the mains power socket completely.
NOTE: If no audio signal inputs to the player in about 15 minutes, the player will enter the standby state (except in the FM radio mode).
Using batteries
1.Remove the battery cover.
2.Insert six UM-1 batteries into the battery compartment.
•Make sure all batteries are inserted with the correct polarity as shown on the bottom of the apparatus.
3.Replace the battery cover.
If the apparatus is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, remove the

Presetting Radio Stations
To automatically search for and save stations, press and hold for about 2 seconds. Any station with a strong enough signal will be saved to preset memory. After the unit finishes scanning, it will automatically tune to the preset station number 1 (P01).
To tune to the next or previous preset station, press and then repeatedly press / to go to next or previous preset station.
To manually preset radio stations
You can preset up to 30 FM radio stations.
1.Follow steps in "Listening to the radio" and tune in to the station that you wish to preset.
2.Press and hold until the text “PROG” flashes on the display.
•The display will show the memory slot number “P01”.
3.Repeatedly press / to select the desired memory slot.
4.Press again to store the station.
5.Repeat steps 1 to 4 to store desired stations.
To listen to preset radio stations, press and then repeatedly press

To remove dust and dirt, breathe on the CD and wipe it with a soft, lint free cloth in a straight line from the centre towards the edge.
Cleaning agents may damage the CD.
Do not expose the CD to rain, moisture, sand or to excessive heat.
CD-R/CD-RW Discs
The player can playback CD-R/CD-RW discs that have been finalised upon completion of recording.
The player may fail to playback some CD-R/CD-RW discs due to poor recording and wide variation in quality of the CD-R/CD-RW discs.
Inserting a CD
1.Open the CD door.
2.Insert a disc on the disc tray with the label side facing up.
3.Close the CD door.
NOTE: If no disc is inserted into the compartment or the disc is placed upside down or unreadable, the display will show “NO”.
Playing a CD
1.Press to turn the unit on.
•The STANDBY indicator light will go out.
2.Repeatedly press to switch the unit to the CD mode.
•The player will scan the contents of the CD. The total number of tracks will then be displayed.
3.The player will automatically start playback from the first track.
4.Adjust the volume by repeatedly pressing or pressing&holding
/.
5.To pause playback press .
•The play indicator and track number will flash on the display.
6.To resume playback, press again.
7.To stop playback, press .
•The total number of tracks will appear on the display.

Searching a Particular Passage during Playback
During playback, press and hold / to scan the current playing track at high speed. Release the button when the desired part of the track is reached.

Random Playback
During playback, press to activate the random playback mode. The display will show the text “RDM”. The unit will play tracks in a random order.

Programmed Play
A maximum of 20 tracks for CD can be programmed in memory in a preferred order.
1.In stop mode, press .
•The display will show “P01” and the text “PROG” will flash.
2.Repeatedly press / to select the desired track number.
3.Press again to store the track.
4.Repeat the above steps until you have completed your programme.
When the memory is full, the display will show “FUL”.
5.Press to commence play of selected tracks.
To clear the programme, you may have two ways:
•Press when the unit stops playing.
•Open the CD door during playback.

PHONES JACK

A phones jack has been provided on the rear of the player so that you can listen without disturbing others. To use the jack, plug in the headphones/earphones (NOT INCLUDED) and adjust the volume level to a preferred level.
NOTE: When the headphones/earphones are plugged in, the speakers will be muted.
AUX IN
Connect an audio cable (not supplied) to the AUX IN jack on the rear of the unit. Connect the other end to a suitable output socket on your auxiliary device.
In power on state, repeatedly press to switch the unit to the AUX mode.
You can play music from an auxiliary device through the speakers of the player.
CASSETTE OPERATION
Playing a Cassette Tape
1.Repeatedly press to switch the unit to the TAPE mode.
2.Press STOP/EJ. to open the tape compartment and insert a recorded tape.
3.Close the door securely. USE TYPE I (normal) tape only.
4.Press PLAY.

Cassette Tape Care Tips
To obtain good reproduction, the head should be cleaned after every 10 hours of use.
Press PLAY and use a small cotton swab with tape head cleaner or alcohol to clean the tape heads, capstan and pinch roller.
