Safety Notes

Read all safety warnings and all instructions.

Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save these instructions.

This vacuum cleaner is not intended for use by children and persons with physical, sensory or mental limitations or a lack of experience or knowledge.

This vacuum cleaner can be used by children aged 8 or older and by persons who have physical, sensory or mental limitations or a lack of experience or knowledge if a person responsible for their safety supervises them or has instructed them in the safe operation of the vacuum cleaner and they understand the associated dangers. Otherwise, there is a danger of operating errors and injuries.

Supervise children. This will ensure that children do not play with the vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning and user maintenance of the vacuum cleaner shall not be made by children without supervision.

WARNING

Do not vacuum materials that are harm-

ful to one’s health, e. g. dust from beech

or oak wood, masonry dust, asbestos. These materials are considered carcinogenic.

Inform yourself about the valid regulations/laws for your country concerning the handling of materials that are hazardous to one’s health.

WARNING

Use the vacuum cleaner only when you

fully understand and can perform all

functions without limitation, or have received appropriate instructions. A thorough introduction reduces operating errors and injuries.

WARNING The vacuum cleaner is suitable only for vacuuming dry materials. The penetra-

tion of liquids increases the risk of an electric shock.

The vacuum cleaner may only be used and stored indoors. The pene-

tration of rain or moisture into the vacuum cleaner lid increases the risk of an electric shock.

WARNING

Do not vacuum hot or burning dusts,

and in rooms with an explosion hazard.

Dusts can ignite or explode.

Remove the battery before cleaning or performing maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or storing the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.

Provide for good ventilation at the working place.

Have the vacuum cleaner repaired only through qualified specialists and only using original spare parts. This ensures that the safety of your vacuum cleaner is maintained.

Do not clean the vacuum cleaner with a water jet pointed directly at it. The penetration of water into the vacuum cleaner lid increases the risk of an electric shock.

Do not open the battery. Danger of short-circuiting.

Protect the battery against heat, e. g., against continuous intense sunlight, fire, water, and moisture. Danger of explosion.

When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritations or burns.

In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system.

Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

Use the battery only together with your Bosch product.

This is the only way to protect the battery against dangerous overload.

The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit can occur and the battery can burn, smoke, explode or overheat.

Assembly

Battery Charging

Use only the battery chargers listed on the accessories page. Only these battery chargers are matched to the lith- ium-ion battery pack used in your vacuum cleaner.

Note: The battery supplied is partially charged. To ensure full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery in the battery charger before using your power tool for the first time. The battery must be removed from the vacuum cleaner to charge it.

The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging procedure does not damage the battery.

The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharging by the “Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)”. When the battery is empty, the machine is switched off by means of a protective circuit: The inserted tool no longer rotates.

After the automatic shut-off of the vacuum cleaner, do not continue to press the On/Off button. The battery pack could become damaged.

The battery is equipped with a NTC temperature control which allows charging only within a temperature range of between 0 ° C and 45 ° C. A long battery service life is achieved in this manner.

Observe the notes for disposal.

Removing the battery (see figures A1 – A2)

The battery 6 is equipped with two locking levels that should prevent the battery from falling out when pushing the battery unlocking button 13 unintentionally. As long as the battery is inserted in the power tool, it is held in position by means of a spring.

To remove the battery pack 6, press the battery unlocking button 13 and pull the battery pack toward the rear out of the vacuum cleaner. Do not exert any force when doing this.

Mounting VAC Accessories (see figure B)

Remove the battery before cleaning or performing maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or storing the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.

The vacuum cleaner accessories can be connected directly to the dust cup 8.

The combination possibilities of the various vacuum cleaner accessories can be viewed in the figure.

Connect the vacuum cleaner accessories firmly to the connection at the dust cup 8 and in to each other.

Operation

Remove the battery before cleaning or performing maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or storing the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.

Starting Operation

Before vacuuming, ensure that the filter assembly is assembled securely.

Only use an undamaged filter (no cracks, small holes, etc.). Replace a damaged filter immediately.

Switching On and Off

To save energy, only switch the vacuum cleaner on when using it.

To switch on the vacuum cleaner, press the On/Off button

4.

The LED 2 lights up when the vacuum cleaner is switched on and enables the illumination of the work area in poor visibility.

To switch off the vacuum cleaner, press the On/Off button 4 again.

Adjusting the vacuuming power

After switching on, the “High” vacuuming power stage is set by default.

Press button 3 for low vacuuming power.

To switch back to high vacuuming power, press button 3 again.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

Remove the battery before cleaning or performing maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or storing the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.

For safe and proper working, always keep the vacuum cleaner and ventilation slots clean.

Clean the vacuum cleaner housing from time to time using a moist cloth.

Clean soiled charger contacts using a dry cloth.

Cleaning the Dust Cup (see figures C1 – C3)

To maintain the optimum performance of the vacuum cleaner, clean the dust cup 8 after each use.

Press release button 1 and remove the dust cup 8 from the motor housing 7.

Remove the filter assembly 14 from the dust cup.

Shake/tap out the dust cup 8 over a suitable waste bin.

If required, clean the dust cup with a moist cloth.

Remove the filter cover 15 from the filter seal 16. Remove the HEPA filter 17 from filter cover 15.

Brush off the lamellas of the HEPA filter with a soft hand brush.

Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

Malfunctions

In the case of insufficient vacuuming performance, check the following:

Is the dust cup 8 full?

See “Cleaning the Dust Cup”, page 8.

Is the HEPA filter 17 clogged with dust?

See “Cleaning the Filter Assembly”, page 8.

Is the capacity of the battery pack too low?

See “Battery Charging”, page 8.

Regular emptying of the dust cup 8 and cleaning of the filter assembly 14 ensures optimal vacuum capacity.

If the vacuuming performance is not achieved thereafter, take the vacuum cleaner to customer service.
