Using the GM Function

What is the GM Function?

The GM (group monitor) function monitors the set frequency to find if there are any stations operating with the GM function within communication range.

The FT-991A can then display the position, distance and other information for each member call sign on the screen. Besides identifying GM stations that are within the sphere of communications, the GM function is also a convenient method to instantly note the relative positions of all the members.

The call sign, the distance and the direction of up to

24 stations operating with the GM function ON, and that are within the communication range, may be tracked.

When DG-ID is set to “00”, all received C4FM digital information will be displayed.

When the DG-ID is set to other than “00”, only digital information on C4FM signals containing the same DG-ID is displayed.

Note:

To utilize the GM function, all members must operate on the same frequency.

Advice:

The GM function does not work in the analog FM mode.
