Application software update for MS 2000
with Teleatlas map data

Navigation software without map data!
Please read through this manual carefully before carrying out the update. Non-observance could
lead to malfunctions of the MS 2000 portable navigation system.

The application software update contains

§ the operating system (OS)

§ the navigation application (for Teleatlas map data only)

§ the system files

All data are available on the internet within one "ZIP-file" per region. Once downloaded and
extracted, the files form a so called "SD card image" which must be copied onto a SD card. The
application software update will be performed with this card. This allows an easy and quick
update.

Please do not add or leave out any files of this image!
The update process consists of two steps. The operating system update and secondly the update

of the application and system files of the MS 2000. All map data remain unchanged. Customized
previous destinations and favourites can be saved before the update and restored afterwards.

Note: Due to the fact that the operating system must be updated, a SD card from SanDisk is mandatory.

Only SD cards from SanDisk are fully supported in the particular case of an operating system update!
Using SD cards from other vendors could lead to corrupt operating system files. If the operating system
has already been updated to version 2.1, dated 10.01.06, any other SD card can be used for the
application software update. In case of any question or uncertainties, please contact your local help desk.
They will be happy to assist you.

Please check the file versions of your MS 2000 under Settings à arrow à About.
The update is only necessary in case an older version is available on the MS2000.

What has changed?

§ Connect the MS 2000 to the 230 volt power supply

§ Switch off the MS 2000 by pressing the on / off button for longer than 3 seconds.

§ Connect the USB cable to the MS 2000 and to the USB port of your computer.

§ If not already available on your computer, please install Microsoft ActiveSync® which can be found

on the PC Map Tool DVD.

§ Switch on the MS 2000 by pressing the on / off button for longer then 3 seconds.

§ Microsoft Active Sync starts automatically; choose "No", no partnership.

§ Once the green icon is shown in the right upper corner of the screen, choose "Explore".

§ Open "ResidentFlash" and then "Navigator".

§ Copy the files mentioned below into a dedicated directory on your computer. Please "right click"

onto the file name with the mouse and choose "copy". Then paste the file into the appropriate
directory on the computer. Please do so for all files mentioned below.

o Navigator.in
o PreviousDestination.dat
o Favorite.dat
o Streetsearch.dat
o Townsearch.dat

§ Disconnect the USB cable and switch off the MS 2000 by pressing the on / off button for longer than
3 seconds.

Update

To update the MS 2000 please proceed as follows.

§ Download the file(s) you require from the internet. Please note that the only difference between the
files is the language set used in the different versions.
