IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Correct usage

Use this griddle only on Miele KM 342 and KM 344 gas cooktops.

Read these instructions before you use this griddle for the first time.

Also, follow the instructions provided with your cooktop. Failure to do so could result in serious injury.

Use the appliance only for its intended purpose. The

manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damages caused by improper use.

Protect your hands with insulated gloves or potholders when using

the appliance. Use only dry, heat resistant potholders. Moist or damp potholders used on hot surfaces can result in steam burns. Do not let the potholder touch the hot surface. Do not use towels or other bulky items near the appliance.

The griddle should only be positioned across a front and rear

burner. Never place the griddle across the two front or two rear burners.

Only use one griddle at a time!

The griddle will become very hot during use. Only use heat resistant

cooking utensils.

Never place cookware on the griddle!

Never cover the griddle with a cloth. A fire could result.

Do not allow children to operate or play with, or near, the griddle.

Never leave the griddle unattended when cooking with oil or fat.

Overheated oil could ignite. Always heat oil slowly, monitoring it as it heats.

Do not use water on grease fires. Smother any fire or flame, or use a

dry chemical or foam-type extinguisher.

Before using the griddle

Before using for the first time clean the griddle by hand with a solution of hot water and liquid dish soap. Dry thoroughly.

You can cook on both sides of the griddle.

Using the griddle

How to procced:

^Place the griddle over two burners spanning them front to rear. The wording must be at the front.

^Turn on the two burners.

^Pre-heat for 5 minutes at the highest burner setting.

^After preheating the griddle, turn down the burner to medium to cook meat, and low to grill vegetables.

^Turn the food frequently to prevent burning.

Make sure the gas burners are turned off after using the griddle!

Tips

To minimize splattering, dry moist or marinated foods with paper towels before cooking.

Salt meat and fish after cooking to retain natural juices.

Cook with oils that can handle high temperatures without smoking.

To help prevent the food from sticking, brush un-marinated meats and vegetables with a little oil before placing on the griddle.

Griddle care

Turn off the gas burners after use and allow the griddle to cool before cleaning.

Never put a hot griddle in cool water.

The griddle must not be washed in a dishwasher!

Clean the griddle by hand after each use with a solution of liquid dish soap and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Soak to loosen any burnt-on food. Use a brush to remove stubborn deposits.
