TRIMMER BUSH-CUTTER
Dear Customer,
Thank you for choosing our TRIMMER; we are sure that your new machine’s performance will meet your requirements in full.
To ensure optimum service and maintenance of your machine’s qualities over time, read this manual carefully and follow its instructions. This will give you the best results and protect your investment. Please keep this manual, which must always accompany the machine.
CAUTION! Before starting the engine, read this carefully.
The following warnings are very important in ensuring safety!
SAFETY REGULATIONS
Caution is your main weapon in preventing accidents!
We urge you to read the following regulations for use of the machine carefully before starting work. Improper use of the machine and its equipment may cause damage; to reduce this risk, comply with the necessary precautions listed below:
1.Read the whole of this manual before starting the machine or putting it in motion.
2.Pay special attention to the safety warnings and labels applied around the bush-cutter.
3.Rotation of the bush-cutter strings is extremely dangerous, never place hands or feet under the bush-cutter.
4.Before other people are allowed to use the machine they must first be informed about the safety regulations and how to use the bush-cutter.
CAUTION!!!
5.Check the terrain before starting to cut the grass, and remove any loose materials which may be flung to some distance and put the operator and other people at risk.
6.People or animals must stay at a distance of at least 15 metres.
Stones may be flung out by centrifugal force causing injury or damage; they may hit the operator who absolutely must wear appropriate working clothing: overalls, gloves, heavy footwear, protective mask for the face, cap and use an helmet or hear-set for noise protection.
If you are working close to or beside a road, watch out for passing people and cars.
7.If the ground is uneven, cut in the highest position to reduce the risk that any loose materials concealed beneath the grass may be flung some distance away.
8.Never tamper with or deactivate the safety devices and guards.
9.Never carry out any type of adjustment or cleaning with the engine running.
10.Never have the machine checked by anyone while you are in the operating position with the engine running.
11.The user is always responsible for damage caused to third parties.
12.All improper use causes the warranty to become null and void and relieves the manufacturer of all liability.
13.Always use original spare parts.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PUTTING THE MACHINE INTO SERVICE
In order to put the machine into service, follow these instructions:
1.Check that the machine has not been damaged during transport.
2.Fit the two wheels and fix them with the two bushings.
3.Fit the front grass protection.
4.Fit the handlebars.
5.In the 550 TILT version, fit the cutting head inclination control rod.
6.Pour in engine oil (see engine manual).
7.Fill up the petrol tank.

Before starting the engine always check:
–The engine oil levels: the level cap is on the top casing (fig. 4), the oil level must be between the two rims.
–That all nuts and bolts are firmly tightened.
–That all levers are in neutral position.
–That the air filter is clean.
–Fill the tank with fuel using a funnel with a very fine filter.
Once the engine has started, release the choke and accelerate gradually.
Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before starting work.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Turn on the fuel tap and set the throttle lever in the mid position, and if the engine is cold, operate the choke on the carburettor (follow the instructions in the engine manual).
Pull the pull-start handle slowly until resistance is felt, then give a sharp pull: in all cases, follow the instructions in the engine manual (fig. 1 - ref. 3).
STARTING WORK
Bring the engine to the maximum rpm. Make sure there is no one in the vicinity of the cutting area, engage the string rotation lever and start work (fig. 1 N° 2).
The model HWT 550 TILT does not have a wheel drive system and is push-type, while model HWT 600 WD is self-propelled. To engage the wheel drive, use lever N° 9 fig. 2; the bush-cutter stops when the lever is released. In the 550 TILT version it is possible to recline the cutting head on the right or on the left, in order to have a ground-shaving cutting.
CHANGING THE STRING
CAUTION! Never replace the string with the engine running.
If the cutting string is worn, it must be replaced; use original strings with square section 3x3, length 530 mm.
If the engine labours, shorten the strings slightly. To change, proceed as follows:
1.Tie the string in the centre as shown in fig. 6;
2.Insert the 2 strings from the inside (fig. 7). CAUTION: do not fit the strings at different heights, as the engine will labour and cutting quality will be poor.
ADJUSTING THE CUTTING HEIGHT
To adjust the cutting height, insert the strings in the holes at the various heights (fig.8 pos. A-B-C-D). In position D the string is flush with the ground; this is the ideal position for removing weeds from paving stones. If the ground is very uneven, set the strings in the highest position.
To set the string plate in positions C and D, adjust the M8 screw, fig. 11, (tighten the screw firmly to 2.5 kg F.m).
ROTATING THE WHEEL AXLE FOR SIDEWAYS TILT MOD. HWT 550 TILT
Model HWT 550 TILT has 3 working positions: central, right or left.
The sideways shift is very useful for working close to walls or pavements.
To set the angle, proceed as follows:
–Raise the wheel slightly above the ground, press the positioning pedal down with a foot and move the wheels (fig. 3 N° 7).
FINISHING WORK
When work is over, to stop the engine move the throttle lever (fig. 1 N. 1) to the stop limit position (fig. 1/B) and turn off the fuel tap.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The following is a list of small problems which may arise during use of the TRIMMER bush cutter, which the customer is able to set right unaided:
1. If the engine does not start: proceeding in the order given below, check:
–That the fuel tank is at least half full;
–That the fuel tap is turned on;
–That the choke is engaged (if the engine is cold);
–That fuel is reaching the carburettor;
–That the vent hole on the tank cap is not blocked;
–That the carburettor nozzles are clean. To check them, unscrew them and clean them with an air jet if dirty;
–That the plug is providing a spark. To check this, remove the plug, reconnect it to the power supply cable, rest the metal part on an electrical ground and turn the engine pulley as if to start it. If no spark is seen between the two electrodes, try checking the plug cable connections and if power is still not received, replace the plug. If the new plug still fails to work, the problem is in the electrical system, and you should contact your nearest service centre or a specialist workshop.
2. When the lever is engaged the string cup does not turn:
–Adjust the string register (fig. 1 N° 4);
–Make sure that the belt has not come out of its seat on the pulley. 3. The machine does not cut well:
–Make sure that the cutting diameter is at least 300 mm; if it is less than this, replace the strings with new ones;
–The belt may be slipping: in this case, the clutch wire register can be adjusted or the engine can be moved back a few millimetres by undoing the three screws on the engine connection flange.
4. The cup keeps turning even when the lever is disengaged:
–Check that the blade brake is working; in this case, undo the M5 nut on the end of the tie-rod (fig.
9)until the pad is touching the surfaces of the driven pulley groove.
–Make sure that material has not accumulated on the brake pad, preventing it from operating;
–The belt may be too tight: undo the clutch cable register (fig. 1 N° 4). If this is not enough, undo the 3 screws on the engine flange and move it forward a few millimetres.
5. For HWT 600 WD only:
–If the travel lever is engaged, but the machine does not move or moves with difficulty, adjust the belt stretcher cable register (fig. 2 N° 10).
LONG LAY-OFFS
If the machine is to be out of use for a lengthy period, the following precautions should be adopted:
–Drain off the fuel;
–Drain off the engine oil;
–Clean the engine and the bush-cutter thoroughly;
–To prevent problems in the carburettor, use the preservative additive for unleaded petrol.

MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Effective maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the bush-cutter always in perfect working order.
4-STROKE ENGINE – For lubrication procedures, follow the instructions provided in the engine manual. As a general guide, the oil level should be checked every 4 working hours and changed every 50 hours. Always use SAE 10W30 oil.
For the air filter, check the cartridge every 8 hours or even more often if the environment is very dusty. Do not clean the cartridge with air jets; if blocked, it must be replaced (fig. 5).
Check periodically that the fins of the cylinder head and cylinder are not blocked; remove the relative guards and follow the instructions in the engine manual.
USEFUL HINTS FOR GOOD PERFORMANCE:
1.Never leave the machine in the rain.
2.Never strain the engine too much; excessive smoke from the exhaust pipe means it is labouring; slow down.
3.Clean the air intake filter frequently;
4.Remove any grass deposits from the engine ventilation grille;
5.Square-section strings or other sections with sharp edges should be used; cutting requires less effort.
6.If the engine starts to labour, use shorter strings.
SPARE PARTS WHICH SHOULD BE KEPT TO HAND
-Cutting head strings, length 53 cm;
-2 cutting head engagement cables;
-2 travel cables (for HWT 600 WD only).

Contact our parts centres located in every area; always state the machine’s serial number and the code number of the piece to be replaced.
IMPLEMENTS
GRASS-SCREEN PROTECTION
This protection (fig. 10) is advised for the grass removal in the streets or avenues edges, in order to avoid the grass to be thrown away.

ATTENZIONE! Prima di avviare il motore leggere attentamente.
Le seguenti avvertenze sono importanti per la sicurezza!
NORME ANTINFORTUNISTICHE
La prudenza è l’arma principale nella prevenzione degli incidenti!
La preghiamo vivamente di leggere con attenzione le seguenti avvertenze nell’uso della macchina, prima ancora di iniziare il lavoro.
L’uso improprio della macchina e il suo equipaggiamento può risultare dannoso. Per ridurre queste possibilità osservare le precauzioni necessarie di seguito riportate:
1.Leggere questo manuale interamente, prima di accendere e mettere in movimento il decespugliatore.
2.Prestare particolare attenzione alle ammonizioni e alle etichette di sicurezza attorno al decespugliatore.
3.La rotazione dei fili del decespugliatore è altamente pericolosa, non mettere mai le mani o i piedi sotto al decespugliatore.
4.Prima di fare lavorare con la macchina altre persone bisogna mettere al corrente delle norme di sicurezza e di come si usa il decespugliatore.
ATTENZIONE!!!
5.Controllare il terreno prima di procedere al taglio dell’erba, rimuovere eventuali corpi estranei che possono essere scagliati lontano e quindi risultare pericolosi per l’operatore e per le persone.
6.Le persone o gli animali devono restare ad una distanza di minimo 15 metri.
I sassi possono essere centrifugati e lanciati causando danni a persone o a cose. Di rimbalzo possono anche colpire l’operatore che deve tassativamente indossare indumenti appropriati da lavoro: tuta, guanti, scarpe antinfortunistiche, maschera per proteggere il viso e berretto, utilizzare un casco antirumore o protezioni auricolari.
Se lavorate vicino o sui bordi di una strada fate attenzione alle persone e alle auto di passaggio.
7.Se il terreno è accidentato, è consigliabile eseguire il taglio nella posizione più alta onde ridurre il pericolo che eventuali corpi estranei nascosti sotto l’erba vengano scagliati lontano.
8.Non manomettere o disattivare i dispositivi di sicurezza e le cofanature di protezione.
9.Non fare nessun tipo di regolazione o pulizia con il motore in moto.
10.Non fare controllare la macchina da nessuno mentre siete alla guida con il motore in moto.
11.L’utilizzatore è sempre responsabile dei danni arrecati a terzi.
12.Ogni utilizzo improprio comporta il decadimento della garanzia ed il declino di ogni responsabilità.
13.Usare sempre ricambi originali.

ISTRUZIONI D’USO
MESSA IN OPERA DELLA MACCHINA
Per la messa in opera della macchina, eseguire le seguenti operazioni:
1.Controllare l’integrità della macchina e che non abbia subito danni durante il trasporto.
2.Montare le due ruote e bloccarle con le due boccole di fermo.
3.Montare il paraerba anteriore.
4.Montare il manubrio di guida.
5.Nella versione 550 TILT, montare l’asta comando inclinazione testina di taglio.
6.Inserire l’olio motore (si veda il libretto motore).
7.Riempire il serbatoio carburante.

Prima di avviare il motore controllare sempre:
–I livelli dell’olio nel motore: il tappo di livello è posto sul coperchio superiore (fig. 4), l’olio deve arrivare tra i due bordini.
–Che tutte le viti e i dadi siano ben serrati.
–Che tutte le leve siano in posizione di folle.
–Che il filtro dell’aria sia ben pulito.
–Riempire il serbatoio di carburante servendosi di un imbuto munito di filtro molto fine.
Una volta avviato il motore disinserire lo starter e accelerare progressivamente. Lasciare scaldare il motore per qualche minuto prima di iniziare il lavoro.
AVVIAMENTO DEL MOTORE
Aprire il rubinetto del carburante, spingere fino a metà la levetta comando gas e, se il motore è freddo, azionare il dispositivo di starter posto sul carburatore (attenersi al libretto motore).
Tirare la manopola dell’avviamento autoavvolgente lentamente fino a che si avverte resistenza (fig. 1 - rif. 3), quindi dare uno strappo energico: attenersi comunque alle norme contenute nel libretto motore.
INIZIO DEL LAVORO
Portare il motore a regime massimo. Assicurarsi che non vi siano persone nei pressi della zona di taglio, innestare la leva di rotazione dei fili e iniziare il lavoro (fig. 1 N° 2).
Il modello HWT 550 TILT è senza trazione sulle ruote, è funzionante a spinta, mentre il modello HWT 600 WD è semovente. Per inserire la trazione alle ruote, si agisce sulla leva N° 9 fig. 2 abbandonando la leva la macchina si arresta. Nella versione 550 TILT è possibile inclinare la testa di taglio a destra o a sinistra, per il taglio radente al terreno.
SOSTITUZIONE FILO
ATTENZIONE! Non sostituire il filo con il motore in moto.
Se il filo di taglio risulta usurato occorre sostituirlo; utilizzare fili originali a sezione quadrata 3 x 3, lunghezza 530 mm.
Se il motore va sotto sforzo accorciare leggermente i fili. Per la sostituzione procedere come segue:
1.Annodare il filo centralmente come in fig. 6;
2.Inserire i 2 fili dall’interno verso l’esterno (fig. 7). ATTENZIONE: non inserire i fili ad altezze diverse, il motore va sotto sforzo e la qualità di taglio risulta scadente.
REGOLAZIONE ALTEZZA DI TAGLIO
Per regolare l’altezza di taglio inserire i fili nei fori alle varie altezze (fig. 8 pos. A-B-C-D).
Nella posizione D il filo lavora radente al terreno; è la posizione ideale per pulire i selciati da erbe infestanti. Se il terreno è molto accidentato inserire i fili nella posizione più alta.
Per posizionare la piastra portafili nella posizione C e D, agire sulla vite M8, fig. 11, (serrare bene la vite 2,5 kg F.m.).
ROTAZIONE ASSE RUOTE PER INCLINAZIONE LATERALE MOD. HWT 550 TILT
Il modello HWT 550 TILT è dotato di 3 posizioni di lavoro: centrale, destra o sinistra. Lo spostamento laterale è molto utile per operare vicino a muretti o marciapiedi. Per l’inclinazione procedere come segue:
–sollevare leggermente le ruote da terra, con un piede premere il pedale di posizionamento verso il basso e spostare le ruote (fig. 3 N° 7).
FINE LAVORO
Terminato il lavoro, per arrestare il motore, portare il manettino acceleratore (fig. 1 N° 1) a fine corsa nella posizione stop (fig. 1/B), chiudere il rubinetto della benzina.

POSSIBILI INCONVENIENTI E LORO RIMEDI
Diamo qui di seguito un elenco di piccoli inconvenienti che possono avvenire nell’uso del decespugliatore TRIMMER e che possono essere rimediati direttamente dal cliente:
1. Se il motore non parte, eseguire nell’ordine i seguenti controlli:
–Che il serbatoio del carburante sia pieno almeno per metà;
–Che il rubinetto del carburante sia aperto;
–Che lo starter sia azionato (se il motore è freddo);
–Che il carburante arrivi al carburatore;
–Che il foro di sfiato sul tappo del serbatoio non sia otturato;
–Che i getti del carburatore siano puliti. Per controllarli, svitarli e se sporchi, pulirli con un getto d’aria;
–Che la candela dia la scintilla. Per far questo controllo, smontare la candela, ricollegarla al cavo che le porta la corrente, appoggiare la parte metallica a massa, e far girare la puleggia del motore come per avviarlo. Se non si vede scoccare la scintilla tra i due elettrodi, provare a controllare i collegamenti del cavo della candela e se la corrente non arriva ancora, sostituire la candela. Se anche quest’ultima sostituzione non desse effetto, il guasto è da ricercarsi nell’impianto elettrico, ed è conveniente rivolgersi al centro di assistenza più vicino o ad una officina specializzata.
2. Innestata la leva, la tazza non ruota:
–Regolare il registro del filo (fig. 1 N° 4);
–Assicurarsi che la cinghia non sia uscita dalla sede delle pulegge. 3. La macchina non taglia bene:
–Assicurarsi che il diametro di taglio non sia inferiore a 300 mm, se è inferiore sostituire i fili con fili nuovi;
–Possibilità che la cinghia slitti: in questo caso si può intervenire nel registro del filo di innesto o si può spostare di qualche millimetro il motore all’indietro allentando le tre viti sulla flangia di attacco del motore.
4. La tazza continua a girare anche con la leva disinnestata;
–Controllare che il freno lame sia in funzione: in questo caso allentare il dado M5 posto all’estremità del tirante (fig. 9) fino a fare toccare il ferodo sulle superfici della gola sulla puleggia condotta.
–Assicurarsi che sulle superfici del ferodo non vi siano accumuli di materiale tali da impedire il funzionamento;
–La cinghia può essere troppo tirata: allentare il registro del filo di innesto (fig.1 N° 4). Se ciò non dovesse bastare, allentare le 3 viti sulla flangia del motore e spostarlo di qualche millimetro in avanti.
5. Solo per HWT 600 WD:
–Se, innestata la leva dell’avanzamento la macchina non si muove o si muove a fatica, agire sul registro del filo tendicinghia (fig. 2 N° 10);
PERIODI DI LUNGA INATTIVITÀ
Nel caso la macchina non debba essere utilizzata per un lungo periodo, è opportuno adottare queste precauzioni:
–scaricare il carburante;
–scaricare l’olio del motore;
