1)pour in the acid and wait 2 hours;

2)charge the battery with a charger set to 12 Volts on a slow charge for 2 hours.

Caution, if this procedure is not observed this could lead to the battery deteriorating and the acid leaking out during work.

IMPORTANT!!! When fitting the battery be careful not to invert the poles. Do not start the engine if the battery is disconnected.

BATTERY - CAUTION!

The gas released by the battery is explosive, so keep it away from naked flames or sparks. Check the level of the liquid at regular intervals and keep the terminals greased with Vaseline.

RUNNING IN - CAUTION!!

Change the engine oil and filter after the first 30 hours of work.

Check for oil leaks or loose screws, especially those that retain the blades and wheels. Adjust the tension on the drive belts (fig. 6).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Before turning on the engine always check that:

the cooling fins on the hydraulic motors are clear;

the radiator liquid is up to the level (only on the diesel version);

the engine cooling intake grilles are clear

the engine oil is up to the level;

the oil in the hydraulic motors is up to the level;

11

the speed presetting lever (fig. 1 no. 1) is in the stop position;

the PTO blade rotation lever is in the neutral position (fig. 1 no. 2);

the air filter is clean (fig. 2 - petrol engine; fig. 3 and 4 - diesel engine), to check the engine lift the machine casing;

the strainer inside the grass catcher is clean (fig. 5);

the cutting deck, turbine and grass entry ducts are clean.

Fill the fuel tank using a funnel fitted with a very fine mesh filter.

STARTING THE PETROL ENGINE

Push the throttle to half-way (fig. 1 no. 4).

If the engine is cold, pull on the choke located on the left, by the side of the seat (fig. 1 no. 3). Turn the ignition key on the instrument panel (fig. 1 no. 8); once the engine starts release it, disengage the choke and place it in the RUN position, wait a few minutes to warm the engine.

STARTING THE DIESEL ENGINE

Put the key into the ignition switch; turn it to the right to warm-up; when the plug light goes out, turn the key to the right in the ST position and release it as soon as the engine starts.

To switch off the engine turn the key to the OFF position (fig. 1 no. 8A).

STARTING WORK

Release the cutting deck (fig. 1 no. 9), rev up the engine, engage the PTO lever (fig. 1 no. 2). Gently move the speed presetting lever (fig. 1 no. 1) and start work.

The two central levers (fig. 1 no. 5) are for steering the machine to the left and to the right; when they are both pulled backwards together the machine goes into reverse.

When the grass catcher is full, a sensor automatically disengages the blade rotation to avoid blocking up the grass entry ducts; when the lever (fig. 1 no. 6) is pushed upwards the basket empties automatically (basic version). Use the 4 pins (fig. 1 no. 10) to adjust the cutting height.

GUIDELINES FOR EFFECTIVE USE

The machine can also be used under harsh conditions without any risk of jamming up. Certain measures must be taken.

1.Before starting work check that the deck and the entry ducts are perfectly clean without any dried grass or soil.

2.Check the terrain before mowing, that there are no stones, sticks or foreign objects.

3.While mowing keep the engine at maximum revs., adjust the speed to suit the height of the grass. Be careful when coming across tall thick clumps of grass, slow down when required.

4.Sharpen the lawnmower blades regularly; the cut will be better and the engine will not have to work so hard.

5.After emptying the grass from the catcher, engage the blades a few metres before reaching the grass to be cut, this will clean the deck and the grass entry ducts.

6.Keep the grid inside the catcher clean.

7.If the grass is wet or very tall, do not cut in the lowest position, but at a mid-way height.

8.Check the tension on the belts that work the turbine and the deck; using the adjuster if necessary (fig. 6).

9.Check that the blades are not worn, especially the fins that push the grass into the entry duct.

10.Check the vanes on the entry turbine for wear.

11.Check that no foreign objects have clogged the turbine.

12.Check the rotation of the duct inside the grass catcher.

13.Check that the blades disengage automatically when the grass catcher is full; to do this, turn the ignition key, turn on the panel without starting the engine, engage the PTO blade rotation lever (fig. 1 no. 2) and touch by hand the vane fitted to the duct sensor (fig. 7). The PTO should now disengage.

14.Check the engine revs.

15.Always mowwith the engine at maximum revs; if theengine revs drop,slow down for a while, to allow the engine to reach the right level again.

16.Check that the blades are fitted properly.

17.On the 126 cm Professional deck the blade terminals that are already equipped with holes can be blocked with mild steel screws. The rigid terminal gives a greater push to the grass inside the grass entry duct.

18.Check that the entry duct fits correctly and is aligned inside the turbine.

19.If the grass is very tall and wet, the exhaust gas deviator can be used (fig. 8), to prevent the turbine becoming blocked and help the grass entry; under normal conditions this device should not be used.

12

MOWING POSITION

Use the 4 pins (fig. 1 no. 10) to adjust the cutting height.

When working on terrain which is rough, has bumps or humps, it is best to use the deck in the highest cutting position to avoid impact with the blade.

SLOPING GROUND

Steep ground should be tackled in an up-and-down movement, being very careful at direction changes that the wheels uphill do not meet any obstacles (stones, branches, roots, etc.) which could cause loss of control over the machine. If the drive wheels tend to slip, use the hydraulic control to raise the deck slightly so that more weight is exerted on the drive wheels, therefore giving more traction.

Evaluate the various conditions and be careful in the presence of damp ground and wet grass because this could cause the mower to slide. When going downhill, start off at a slow speed and avoid driving over dry or cut grass because the wheels could lose their grip.

SAFETY DEVICE TRIGGERING

Always remember that the engine stops each time:

the operator gets up from the seat. In addition, the engine will not start if:

the blades are not engaged;

there is no one seated at the controls;

the speed presetting lever is not in the stop position.

CAUTION!

While moving from one location to another do not travel with the cutting deck raised. Only raise the deck hydraulic lifter to avoid obstacles, climb onto pavements or up kerbs. The deck hydraulic raiser is fitted with a hydraulic jack that makes sure the deck goes down again after a few minutes.

Do not increase the pressure in the hydraulic circuit to more than 130 bar; this could damage the hydraulic pump. To adjust the hydraulic pressure turn the screw with lock nut located on the distributor.

This operation is to be carried out by an authorised service centre.

MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION

CAUTION!

Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plugs (petrol version) before carrying out any cleaning, maintenance or repairs. Always wear suitable working clothes and safety gloves.

LUBRICATION

Never dispose of used oil, petrol or any other type of pollutant in the environment! Proper maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the mower working perfectly.

ENGINE

For the lubrication intervals follow the directions given in the engine manual; it is in any case indispensable to change the oil after the first 20-30 working hours.

For the petrol engine use SAE 30 oil, 1.4 lt. without filter, 1.6 lt. with filter (fig. 9). For the diesel engine use SAE 10 W 30 oil, 2.9 lt. (fig. 10).

Change the oil filter (fig. 11 - petrol engine; fig. 12 - diesel engine).

Thefirstprecautiontobetakenisthattheengineismaintainedcorrectlywithacleanairfilter,coolingfins,andheads and that the engine oil is up to the level.

Keep the engine compartment clean, using a vacuum cleaner if possible. Check the air filter every 4 hours or even more frequently if in dusty conditions. Clean the air inlet grill for cooling the engine.

In order not to reduce the air needed to cool the radiator, the vents outside and inside the engine must always be kept clear. Make sure the radiator is always kept clear.

REDUCTION-GEARS ON WHEEL

Check the oil level every 200 hours by unscrewing the cap, fig. 13; if necessary, add AGIP ROTRA MP 85 W 90 oil (international equivalent API GL5 or US MIL-L-2105D; 0.7 lt. each), change every 1.000 hours.

13

HYDRAULIC MOTORS

Check the level in the expansion vessel with the engine cold, it must be up to the level marker (fig. 14); if more oil is needed, add OSO 68 (ISO L-HM68) or MOBIL DTE 18M.

Clean the cooling fins on the hydraulic motors regularly; in summer, under dusty conditions, every 2 working hours.

CAUTION!!

Change the oil in the hydraulic motors every 300 hours; check the level with the motors cold, it must be up to the first marker on the expansion vessel (fig. 14). If the oil needs topping up, use MOBIL DTE 18M, or OSO 68 (ISO L-HM68). The oil must be changed before the 300 hours if:

1)the oil is black (the engine has overheated);

2)the oil is a whitish colour (it is contaminated with water);

3)there is black coloured residue on the bottom of the vessel (partial oil deterioration).

To remove the oil undo the drain plug under the hydrostatic transmission. To add oil, as this is a slow operation due to the filter inside the vessel, this can be done much more quickly by turning the pulley by hand; unscrew the top plug by the side of the vessel (fig. 15) to allow any air bubbles to escape. Capacity: 0.8 lt. each.

PTO TRANSMISSION

AGIP SYNTHETIC LSX 75 W 90 (API GL4 + GL5; API MT1 and PG2), 0.15 lt., change every 200 hours use an oil-suction syringe for this operation (fig. 16).

HYDRAULIC KIT CIRCUIT

Hydraulic oil OSO 32 (ISO L-FD 32), 2 lt., (fig. 17) the filter is inside the tank, change the oil every 500 hours.

HYDRAULIC KIT CIRCUIT WITH HIGH DISCHARGE

Hydraulic oil OSO 32 (ISO L-FD 32), 4 lt., (fig. 18) the filter is inside the tank, change the oil every 500 hours.

110 CM CUTTING DECK TRANSMISSIONS

AGIP SYNTHETIC LSX 75 W 90 (API GL4 + GL5; API MT1 and PG2), 0.6 lt., change every 300 hours.

126 CM CUTTING DECK TRANSMISSIONS

AGIP SYNTHETIC LSX 75 W 90 (API GL4 + GL5; API MT1 and PG2), 1.350 lt., change every 300 hours.

150 CM CUTTING DECK TRANSMISSION

Side discharge AGIP SYNTHETIC LSX 75 W 90 (API GL4 + GL5; API MT1 and PG2), 0.15 lt., change every 200 hours (B, fig. 36).

SHARPENING THE BLADES

A blunt blade pulls at the grass giving it an unsightly appearance, the cutting edges of the blades must therefore be kept sharp at all times.

For 110 cm and 126 cm decks, remove the split pins and side pins (fig. 19). Lift up the deck by hand and affix it securely to the hook on the instrument panel (fig. 20), sharpen the blades, replace them if they appear worn. As the blades wear they lose their cutting efficiency and tend to become unbalanced, causing the lawnmower to vibrate, if even when they are sharpened this unbalancing still remains; their balance should be checked by putting a screwdriver into the centre hole on the blade and grinding until the blade remains horizontal and therefore “balanced”.

To remove a blade hold it firmly using safety gloves and undo the centre screw. Caution: the right blade centre fixing screw has a left-handed thread (fig. 21).

With these two decks the universal joint does not need to be released, however, before starting the machine it is still a good idea to make sure the joint is securely fixed and the stop button is protruding.

CAUTION!

Always replace damaged or bent blades; never try to repair them! ALWAYS USE ORIGINAL BLADES!

ADJUSTING THE CUTTING DECK

An even deck is essential for achieving a uniform cut over the whole lawn.

With the lawnmower on a flat surface, check the tyre pressures, check the tension on the two floating springs, and if necessary use the screws to adjust them (fig. 22).

If a satisfactory parallel set up cannot be achieved, contact an Authorised Service Centre. The two floating springs also give greater traction to the drive wheels, especially on a slope.

To remove the deck from the mower, undo the two pins (fig. 23) and pull forward the whole cutting assembly.

Caution! When refitting the deck always remember to reconnect the universal joint.

14

ENGINE - PTO TRANSMISSION BELT

Theseareself-adjustingandthereforeneednoadjustment,onlythespringtensionneedstobechecked.Toreplace them release the tension spring (fig. 24).

Remove the belt guide (fig. 25) and the two guide screws (fig. 26) for the PTO belt. On the petrol engine the two engine pulley fixing screws must also be slacked (fig. 27) and the pulley itself pushed towards the engine.

PTO BELTS

Caution! These belts are special, use original belts.

To replace them the procedure is the same as already described for the PTO/engine ones.

Caution! When repositioning the two belt guide screws, do so in such a way that when the belts are in tension they pass at a distance of 1mm. from the screws (fig. 26).

If the belts remain slack even though the adjusting nut is tight, fit spacing washers between the PTO transmission and the bracket.

To set the tension use a no. 13 spanner to turn the nut that adjusts the tension spring (fig. 6).

Adjust the tension so that when pressing on the longest section there is a play of between 5 to 8 mm. The belts must not be able to come off the pulley with the PTO disengaged.

Adjust the blade brake located under the PTO belts (fig. 28), with the blade engaged the skid plate must remain in line at a distance of 5 mm.

HYDROSTATIC MOTOR BELTS

These are self-adjusting, replace them as soon as they show signs of wear.

To replace them, the two springs on the tensioners (fig. 29) must be released. If the machine is fitted with a hydraulic pump then the pump must also be removed from its bracket.

USE ORIGINAL BELTS.

IMPACT WITH A STONE OR SOME OTHER FOREIGN OBJECT

-Stop the machine.

-Turn off the engine, lift up the cutting deck and check whether the blade fixing screws have been sheared, fit new ones if necessary (110 cm deck), (B, fig. 21).

IMPORTANT

To move the machine with the engine off, lift and hook up the two levers located over the hydrostatic transmissions, fig. 30; be careful because by doing this the self-braking device does not work any more.

MECHANICAL PARKING BRAKE

On machines fitted with this device the two cables (fig. 31) and the centre adjuster that compresses the spring must be kept in check. The brake is applied by pulling the lever upwards, to release it press the button and lower the lever.

MACHINE WILL NOT KEEP A STRAIGHT LINE

Regulate the flow of oil in the two hydraulic motors by turning the nuts on the direction lever rods (fig. 32). Carry out this operation with cold motors.

HOW TO INCREASE THE TRACTION POWER OF THE WHEELS

N.B. With time, as more directional adjustments are made, by screwing in the 2 adjusting nuts (fig. 33) the power at the wheels is reduced; to eliminate this problem proceed as follows:

Undo the two nuts completely (no. 1).

Set the advance lever to maximum speed (no. 2). Put the two nuts in place “slightly tightened” (no. 1).

Put the centre screw in place to find the limit stop of the two levers (no. 3. it is important to limit how much the centre limit stop screws in because this takes power away from the wheels).

At this point, in a yard, with the engine at low revs, adjust the direction by always screwing inwards one of the two nuts (no. 1).

Adjust the neutral using the centre stud (no. 4). Start the engine with throttle at its minimum and the lever in neutral. Loosen the lock nut and adjust by screwing in or out. Secure once more using the lock nut. An authorised service centre should be contacted to perform this operation.

ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT

The electrical circuit is protected by fuses which, if blown, cause the whole electrical circuit to cut out. These are located under the bodywork next to the engine and inside the instrument panel.

Once the fault has been located and repaired, replace the blown fuse with one of the same rating.

Never replace a fuse with another of a different rating.

If the fault still persists even after having carried out the operation described above, contact the Authorised Service Centre.

Never attempt to carry out complex repairs without having the necessary means and technical knowledge available.

FINISHING WORK

Once mowing has been completed, disengage the blades, put the speed presetting lever in the STOP position (fig. 1 no. 1), set the throttle lever to idling speed, turn off the engine by turning the key (fig. 1 no. 8 and no. 8/A).

17

CLEANING

Clean the deck, the entry ducts, the turbine and the basket. Do not wash the engine compartment with water under pressure, use compressed air or a vacuum cleaner.

STORAGE AND LACK OF USE FOR LONG PERIODS

Store the machine in a dry environment, sheltered from the elements and, if possible, covered up.

If the mower will not be used for a long period (more than one month), disconnect the red lead from the battery and follow the directions given in the engine manual; in addition grease all the joints.

Check regularly that the battery voltage has not dropped below 12 Volts and if it does so, recharge it. For machines with petrol engines use a conserving additive for unleaded petrol.

ACCESSORIES

150 CM SIDE DISCHARGE CUTTING DECK

This is suitable for mowing in parks or gardens which are so large that grass collection is unnecessary.

If the grass is not too high and the engine is not pushed too hard, work in such a way that the cut grass is spread over the grass still to be cut; in this way the lawnmower will pass several times over the grass already cut, shredding it finely and dispersing it over the lawn.

Use the 4 pins (fig. 34) to adjust the cutting height.

The grass is discharged through an outlet fitted with a bar to prevent the ejection of objects and this bar must not be removed under any circumstances. When working near roads be careful not to spray grass onto the carriageway, keep any persons at a distance of 15/20 metres.

The main features are its cutting quality and robust construction, it can also be fitted with a mulching kit.

Maintenance

1.Every 50 hours grease the blade pin bearings (fig. 35).

2.Check the belt tension every 50 hours and if necessary adjust it (A, fig. 36). The play on the belt must never exceed 8/10 mm.

3.Blade maintenance:

a)Remove the split pins and side pins (fig. 37).

b)Release the universal joint from the deck by pressing on the button (fig. 38).

c)Lift the deck manually and attach it to the hook on the instrument panel (fig. 39).

d)Sharpen the blades or replace them if they show signs of wear. When lowering the deck again, carry out the same procedure in reverse order, making sure to reconnect the universal joint.

e)Angle drive oil. Check the level every 40 hours, change it every 200 hours. Use synthetic oil 75 W 90 LSX (international codes: API GL4 + GL5; API MT1 and PG2; MIL-L-2105D; MIL-PRF-2105E) (B, fig. 36) quantity - 0.15 lt. Caution! Use an oil syringe for this operation.

110 CM MULCHING DECK (FIG. 40)

This is for cutting and mulching grass 10/12 cm high. This operation is best done with dry grass as the turbulence inside the deck mulches it better.

It is advisable not to stop the machine after cutting but to continue for a few minutes over the already cut lawn to discharge the grass from inside the deck.

It is attached in the same way as the other decks. Check the condition of the blades regularly, sharpen or replace them if necessary.

Check the oil level in the transmission unit, change the oil every 300 hours, 0.6 lt. (75 W 90 SYNTHETIC). This deck too has safety screws on the blades which shear off in the event of impact. They must be replaced with interchangeable screws in mild steel.

In some European areas mulching involves two cuts; a first passage cuts 1/3 of the grass height and a second cutting removes the remaining 2/3. Gauge which type of cut is most suited to your expectations and the type of grass.

110 CM GRASS SHREDDER (FIG. 41)

Veryusefulforclearingcountrysidewithtall,wildgrass.Allowsthecutproducttobeshreddedmakingcollectionunnecessary. It comes equipped as standard with “Y” shaped hoes, also suitable for shredding small pruned branches. It can be fitted with grass blades to give a cutting quality equal to that of the lawnmower, or converted into a scarifier by changing the blades holding roller or by simply replacing the hoes with expulsion vanes.

Applied in the same way as the lawnmower, be careful to fit the universal joint onto the grooved shaft. Check regularly the tension on the belts at the side of the grass shredder and grease the belt supports. If the grass shredder vibrates, check the hoes.

18

FRONT BLADE (FIG. 42)

The dozer blade attachment is joined to deck mount arm on the machine and can be angled either to the left or to the right. It is recommended for shifting snow, for closing small excavations or for flattening heaps of sand or gravel.

ROLLER BRUSH (FIG. 43)

This is for clearing avenues and squares. It is applied in the same way as the lawnmower. It can be angled to the left or the right to pile up the material along the route and can also be used for clearing snow.

LOW PRESSURE WHEELS [21 X 11.00 - 8] (FIG. 44)

These are used for cutting on sloping ground and in damp areas as the special tyre pattern gives greater grip and prevents sliding.

These are also recommended for use of FD 700 with high grass discharge. The low inflation pressure (0.6 bar) makes driving more comfortable. When changing direction care should be taken not to use one wheel as a pivot, but to make the wheels counter-rotate so as not to ruin the lawn.

MESSA IN OPERA DELLA MACCHINA

1)Controllare l’integrità della macchina e accertare che non abbia subito danni durante il trasporto.

2)Verificare i livelli olio motore, trasmissione idrostatica, riduttore ruote.

3)Verificare la pressione dei pneumatici:

Ruote anteriori 20 x 10.00 - 8 (1,5 BAR), 21 x 11.00 - 8 (0,6 BAR) Ruote posteriori 15 x 6.00 - 6 (1,5 BAR)

Ruote piatto 3.00 / 4 (2 BAR)

4)Controllare il voltaggio della batteria, non deve risultare inferiore al valore di 12 Volt, eventualmente provvedere alla ricarica. Se la batteria è stata fornita a secco con acido a parte, per la messa in opera procedere come segue:

1)inserire l’acido e attendere 2 ore;

ISTRUZIONI D’USO

Prima di avviare il motore controllare sempre:

che le alette di raffreddamento dei motori idraulici siano ben pulite;

che il liquido radiatore sia a livello (solo per versione diesel);

che le griglie di aspirazione per il raffreddamento del motore siano pulite;
