Carefullyreadthecontentofthismanualbeforeinstallingtheairconditionerandstorethemanualinasafeplaceinorderto beabletouseitasreferenceafterinstallation.
Formaximumsafety,installersshouldalwayscarefullyreadthefollowingwarnings.
Storetheoperationandinstallationmanualinasafelocationandremembertohanditovertothenewowneriftheair conditionerissoldortransferred.
ThismanualexplainshowtoinstallanindoorunitwithasplitsystemwithtwoSAMSUNGunits.Theuseofothertypesof unitswithdifferentcontrolsystemsmaydamagetheunitsandinvalidatethewarranty.Themanufacturershallnotbe responsiblefordamagesarisingfromtheuseofnoncompliantunits.
Themanufacturershallnotberesponsiblefordamageoriginatingfromunauthorizedchangesortheimproperconnectionofelectric andrequirementssetforthinthe“Operatinglimits”table,includedinthemanual,shallimmediatelyinvalidatethewarranty.
Theairconditionershouldbeusedonlyfortheapplicationsforwhichithasbeendesigned:theindoorunitisnotsuitableto beinstalledinareasusedforlaundry.
Donotusetheunitsifdamaged.Ifproblemsoccur,switchtheunitoffanddisconnectitfromthepowersupply.
Inordertopreventelectricshocks,firesorinjuries,alwaysstoptheunit,disabletheprotectionswitchandcontactSAMSUNG’ stechnicalsupportiftheunitproducessmoke,ifthepowercableishotordamagedoriftheunitisverynoisy.
Alwaysremembertoinspecttheunit,electricconnections,refrigeranttubesandprotectionsregularly.Theseoperations shouldbeperformedbyqualifiedpersonnelonly.
Theunitcontainsmovingparts,whichshouldalwaysbekeptoutofthereachofchildren.
Donotattempttorepair,move,alterorreinstalltheunit.Ifperformedbyunauthorizedpersonnel,theseoperationsmay causeelectricshocksorfires.
Donotplacecontainerswithliquidsorotherobjectsontheunit.
Allthematerialsusedforthemanufactureandpackagingoftheairconditionerarerecyclable.
Thepackingmaterialandexhaustbatteriesoftheremotecontrol(optional)mustbedisposedofinaccordancewithcurrentlaws.
Theairconditionercontainsarefrigerantthathastobedisposedofasspecialwaste.Attheendofitslifecycle,theaircondi tionermustbedisposedofinauthorizedcentersorreturnedtotheretailersothatitcanbedisposedofcorrectlyandsafely.
INSTALLING THE UNIT
IMPORTANT: Wheninstallingtheunit,alwaysremembertoconnectfirsttherefrigeranttubes,thentheelectricallines.
Alwaysdisassembletheelectriclinesbeforetherefrigeranttubes.
Uponreceipt,inspecttheproducttoverifythatithasnotbeendamagedduringtransport.Iftheproductappearsdamaged, DONOTINSTALLitandimmediatelyreportthedamagetothecarrierorretailer(iftheinstallerortheauthorizedtechnician hascollectedthematerialfromtheretailer.)
Aftercompletingtheinstallation,alwayscarryoutafunctionaltestandprovidetheinstructionsonhowtooperatetheair conditionertotheuser.
Donotusetheairconditionerinenvironmentswithhazardoussubstancesorclosetoequipmentthatreleasefreeflamesto avoidtheoccurrenceoffires,explosionsorinjuries.
POWER SUPPLY LINE, FUSE OR CIRCUIT BREAKER
Alwaysmakesurethatthepowersupplyiscompliantwithcurrentsafetystandards.Alwaysinstalltheairconditionerin compliancewithcurrentlocalsafetystandards.
Alwaysverifythatasuitablegroundingconnectionisavailable.
Verifythatthevoltageandfrequencyofthepowersupplycomplywiththespecificationsandthattheinstalledpowerissuf ficienttoensuretheoperationofanyotherdomesticapplianceconnectedtothesameelectriclines.
Alwaysverifythatthecut-offandprotectionswitchesaresuitablydimensioned.
Verifythattheairconditionerisconnectedtothepowersupplyinaccordancewiththeinstructionsprovidedinthewiring diagramincludedinthemanual.
Alwaysverifythatelectricconnections(cableentry,sectionofleads,protections…)arecompliantwiththeelectricspecifica tionsandwiththeinstructionsprovidedinthewiringscheme.Alwaysverifythatallconnectionscomplywiththestandards applicabletotheinstallationofairconditioners.

Deciding onWhere to Install the AirConditioner
Whendecidingonthelocationoftheairconditionerwiththeowner,thefollowingrestrictions mustbetakenintoaccount.
General
DoNOTinstalltheairconditionerinalocationwhereitwillcomeintocontactwiththefollowingelements:
Combustiblegases
Salineair
Machineoil
Sulphidegas
Specialenvironmentalconditions
Ifyoumustinstalltheunitinsuchconditions,firstconsultyourdealer.
OutdoorUnit
TheoutdoorunitmustNEVERbeplacedonitssideorupsidedown,asthecompressorlubricationoilwillruninto thecoolingcircuitandseriouslydamagetheunit.
Choosealocationthatisdryandsunny,butnotexposedtodirectsunlightorstrongwinds.
Donotblockanypassagewaysorthoroughfares.
Choosealocationwherethenoiseoftheairconditionerwhenrunningandthedischargedairdonotdisturbany neighbours.
Chooseapositionthatenablesthepipingandcablestobeeasilyconnectedtotheindoorunitandtherecommendedlengthwillberespected.
Installtheoutdoorunitonaflat,stablesurfacethatcansupportitsweightanddoesnotgenerateanyunnecessary noiseandvibration.
Positiontheoutdoorunitsothattheairflowisdirectedtowardstheoutside,asindicatedbythearrowsonthetop oftheunit.
Maintainsufficientclearancearoundtheoutdoorunit,asindicatedinthediagramonthepageopposite.
Makesurethatthewaterdrippingfromthedrainhoserunsawaycorrectlyandsafely.
CAUTION
YouhavejustpurchasedaFreeJointMultiairconditionerandithasbeeninstalledbyyour installationspecialist.
Thisdevicemustbeinstalledaccordingtothenationalelectricalrules.
Maxinputpower¤tismeasuredaccordingtoIECstandardandinputpower¤tis measuredaccordingtoISOstandard.
Morethan2indoorunitsshouldbeinstalledwhenyouuseFreeJointMultiairconditioner.
Theunitsmustbeinstalledaccordingtodistancesdeclared,inordertopermitaccessibilityfrom eachside,eithertoguaranteecorrectoperationofmaintenanceorrepairingproducts.Theunit’s partsmustbereachableandremovablecompletelyundersafetycondition(forpeopleorthings).
Thecostneededtoreachandrepairtheoutdoorunit(inSAFETYCONDITIONaccordingtodecreeof law626/94),installedabove3.0metersheight(fromthefloor)willbechargedtofinalcustomer.
Withanoutdoorunithavingnetweightupperthen60kg,wesuggestdonotinstallitsuspendedon wall,butconsideringfloorstandingone.
