Setting up your Soundcard in Traktor DJ Studio 2
Please proceed as described below to correctly set up your soundcard:
If you are running the software with your onboard soundcard or with a simple stereo soundcard, leave Traktor's monitor channels with the option - not connected -
Optionally you can connect only the left master channel and the left monitor channel to hear both signals separately over
your headphones. With a standard dual headphone adapter you can even additionally connect your amplifier to the mono master output channel.
If you have a multichannel soundcard, assign the master channels of Traktor to the outputs of your soundcard connected to the amplifier.
Connect the monitor (headphone) channels of Traktor to the headphone outputs of your soundcard. In many multichannel soundcards the headphone outputs are identical to outputs 1 and 2. In this case the master channels of Traktor have to be assigned to the outputs 3 and 4 of the soundcard and these connected to the amplifier.
Finally close the Setup by clicking OK.
Load a track from the List window into one of the decks by drag and drop and click the PLAY button to begin playback. The waveform should now
start moving if a working audio driver has been selected in the Audio Settings. If you observe sound disturbances you should go back to the audio settings and increase the latency value or buffer size of your soundcard.
The output meter in the MASTER panel displays the level of the master output . If you shouldn't hear any sound, please verify first, if the output meter is showing any signal presence.
The LOAD button of the AUTOMATE panel allows you to load a file called demo.nmx. Pressing the PLAY MIX button in this panel will start playback of a demo mix that
illustrates various mixing techniques that can be realized with Traktor DJ Studio 2.
The following pages describe Traktor DJ Studio's panels and functions one by one.
