Safety instructions

The hood is not designed for commercial use, but only for normal culinary use in individual domestic settings. It complies fully with international safety regulations and with international quality standards. All possible precautions do not however prevent all risk of accidents.

It is therefore vital that you read the instructions, advice and safety tips provided herein before installing and using this hood. Pay special attention to the passages marked with a warning triangle, to avoid all personal and material damage. Keep this user manual in a safe place for future reference or in the event of sale or transfer to another owner.

Hood use

Do not leave flammable products under the hood, such as oil and frying fat, paraffin oil, etc. In the event of fire, turn both the cooker and the hood off immediately.

Attention! Cover the fire. Never attempt to extinguish it by pouring water over it.

Do not flambé food beneath the hood. This could start a fire. Keep in mind that fats heated to high temperatures could spontaneously ignite. Never leave a hot frying pan under the hood if you have to leave the kitchen.

The filter must be cleaned regularly in order to prevent any fat from dropping back down onto hot burners or hotplates, which could start a fire. Also read the chapter entitled "Care and cleaning" in this manual.

Scrapping

When scrapping the hood, take all the necessary steps set forth by the law to prevent all future accidents. Unplug the plug on the power supply cable from the wall socket and cut the cable near the appliance air inlet. Contact your local authorities for details on scrapping your hood.

Installation and appliance care

All electrical installation operations must be carried out by a qualified electrician and the hood itself must be installed by a skilled professional. A hood that has been installed by an unqualified person may lead to malfunctioning, and even personal or material damage.

The hood must be installed at a minimum of 40 cm above an electric hob or cooker and at least 65 cm above gas burners or a gas cooker.

During installation, make sure the electrical power supply cable is left completely free and in perfect condition.

The electrical power supply to the hob is only cut off when the power supply cable is unplugged or the fuse is disconnected.

The laws and regulations applicable to the method used for the vented air outlet must be observed. For example, the exhaust air must not be vented towards ducts used for combustion flue gases, powered by a type of energy other than electricity, such as fuel-oil boilers and wood-fired stoves.

Operation

The hood can operate in two ways:

By venting the air outside, using the flue kit and flue duct.

By re-circulating the air, using a charcoal filter (filter sold separately).

The hood must not be connected to a flue duct used for the flue gases originating from appliances that do not run on electricity.

Use the charcoal filter. The charcoal filter purifies the air that circulates throughout the hood; this hot air is then re-introduced into the appliance in order to avoid all energy wastage. It is preferable to use the re-circulation mode in winter and the vented mode in summer.

Hood Use

Turning off the hood

Press the fan switch for at least 3 seconds. The fan motor is consequently turned off but the light continues to operate normally. To turn on the hood, push the visor first slightly inwards and then pull it out completely.

Correct ventilation

For the hood to operate correctly, do not open any windows in your kitchen; on the other hand, you should open a window in the next room.

Important recommendation

If the hood operates at the same time as a burner or open fire (gas, fuel-oil or wood-fired heating, water heater, etc.), take special care because the hood may intake the air necessary for the combustion of said systems.

Do not set the fan at a higher speed than necessary. Low speeds are sufficient for cooking under normal conditions.

Only use high speeds to evacuate strong odours (such as those generated by burnt food, etc.).

Care and Cleaning

Before performing any hood care operations, turn off the electricity supply by unplugging the power supply cable from the wall socket or by removing the fuse.

Hood cleaning

Clean the exterior of the hood using a soft cloth moistened with a neutral detergent. Never use corrosive, abrasive or inflammable cleaning products.

Speed control

The extractor fan speed can be adjusted using the pull-out glass visor (see figure).

Pushbutton A (Timer)

When the glass visor is in position (A), the light turns on. When the adjuster reaches position (B), the hood motor starts at low speed, then the speed increases gradually as the panel is pulled out.

To set the intensive speed, then push the push button A (see figure), the intensive speed lasts for 5 minutes.

For best results, low speeds are recommended under normal operating conditions, and higher speed settings when the concentration of fumes and steam are highest.

Turn the hood on a few minutes before you begin cooking, in order to create a partial vacuum in the kitchen. Once you have finished cooking, leave the hood on for another 15 minutes, or until all steam and fumes have disappeared.

Cleaning the stainless steel surfaces

For an improved cleaning action on the stainless steel surfaces of the hood, use a soft cloth and Original Steel Polish, on sale from the service centre.

You can also use glass cleaner. If the surface is extremely dirty, you can use methylated spirit.

NEVER use scouring powder or any other product that may scratch the surface irreparably. Do not use materials such as steel wool or scraping pads which may scratch the surfaces.
