The CFP transceiver module connects the electrical circuitry of the platform with an optical network. This installation note provides instructions for installing the 40-Gigabitand100-GigabitCFP transceiver modules.

The 40-Gigabitand100-GigabitEthernet CFP transceivers arehot-swappableI/O devices that plug into40-Gigabitand100-GigabitEthernet module ports.Figure 1 shows aCFP-40G-LR4module with duplex SC fiber connectors. TheCFP-100G-LR4andCFP-40G-FRalso use duplex SC fiber connectors.

Figure 2 shows aCFP-40G-SR4module with a12-fiberMPO connector. TheCFP-100G-SR10module is very similar, but uses a24-fiberMPO connector.

Figure 3 shows aCVR-CFP-4SFP10Gmodule. This is an adapter module that converts a Cisco switch or router CFP port to four10-GigabitSFP+ ports. The SFP+ transceivers are not included with the converter module.

Note The SC and MPO connectors on the optical CFP transceivers support network interface cables with either Physical Contact (PC) orUltra-PhysicalContact (UPC) flat polished face types. The SC and MPO connectors on the optical CFP transceivers do not support network interface cables with an Angle Polished Connector (APC) polished face type.
