Nor does Yamaha guarantee the media against any defect that may render it unusable.

Laser beam safety precautions

Carefully follow the installation instructions in the manual for the main unit into which this device is being installed. Taking actions that are not described in the manual could cause the device to emit laser beams that may cause injury.

If you look directly into the laser beam projected from the optical pickup, your eyesight may be damaged. Follow the cautions below:

¥Do not open the optical pickup case.

¥Do not peek inside the tray during operation.

Warning

Before installing this device, disconnect the power supply cable of the product in which it is being installed, and disconnect any cables that connect peripheral devices. Failure to do so may cause electrical shock or malfunctions.

When installing, servicing, or replacing parts for this device, do not perform any action that is not prescribed in the owner's manual.

Do not disassemble the device. Laser beams inside the device may damage your eyesight.

Do not apply excessive force to the electronic components or connectors on the device, and do not disassemble it. Electrical shock, fire, or malfunction may result.

Caution

Before touching this device, touch a metal part of the device into which it will be installed, so that any static electricity in your body will be discharged. Failure to do so will risk damaging the electronic components by static electricity.

When handling this device, be careful not to touch the leads (wires protruding from the electronic components) on the rear side of the device. Injury may result.

When installing this device, be careful not to cut yourself on any sharp edges or parts of this device or of the product into which this device is being installed.

When installing this device, be careful not to drop screws etc. into the product into which this device is being installed.

Do not allow this device to become wet, and do not place objects on top of it. Doing so will cause malfunctions.

Cautions for installation

In order to install the device correctly, please pay attention to the following points.

¥Perform the installation according to the steps given in the directions, making sure that the device is installed correctly and in the correct orientation.

¥Verify that this device has been installed correctly. If installation is incorrect, the device might not work properly. Faulty connections or a shorted power supply can cause malfunctions.

¥Be careful not to lose any of the included screws.

¥Using screws of the incorrect shape or length can cause malfunctions or damage to the product. Use only the screws that were included with this device.

¥When installing or removing the device, be careful not to drop parts or this device into the product.

¥Make sure that the attaching screws are tightened firmly, and are not loose.

¥Be careful not to touch any exposed metal portions of the device, or any parts that are not essential to the installation process.

¥The CD-RW drive is a precision device. Do not drop it or allow any impact. Do not keep the unit in the place exposed to high temperature or humidity.

¥Before handling the device, be sure to touch a grounded metal surface to remove any static electricity from your clothing and body. Otherwise, static electricity may damage the device.

¥Do not apply too much force by pushing the center of the device surface.

¥If the device malfunctions, consult your dealer. Other stores may not offer YamahaÕs authorized service.
