Please read the safety instructions carefully before operating the receiver. Please follow all warnings and instructions on the equipment and in the operating manual.
Basic safety instructions
Electrical connection
Disconnect the receiver from the power source in case of operational disruptions. Please note: The receiver will remain live, even if it is turned off with the mains switch on the rear side.
Do not expose the receiver to rain or any kind of humidity to avoid risk of fire and electric shock.
Never open the casing. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock.
Connect the receiver only to a professionally installed mains socket of 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz.
Pull out the mains plug from the socket if the equipment is not in use for a longer period of time. Only pull at the mains plug, not at the cable.
Pull out the mains plug of the receiver and the antenna plug of the roof antenna (if any) from the socket in case of storms.
If foreign bodies or fluids enter the receiver, immediately pull out the mains plug from the socket. Ask a qualified person to check the equipment before operating it once again. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock.
Ensure that the power source (socket) is easily accessible.
Do not bend or crimp the mains cable.
If the mains cable is damaged, the receiver must be repaired by
an expert before reusing it. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock.
Never allow children to operate the receiver or to play with the antenna unit unless supervised.

Always ask qualified personnel to carry out maintenance jobs. Otherwise, you are putting yourself and others at risk.
Spare parts to be ordered from the manufacturer.
Modifications of the device lead to an extinction of the
manufacturer’s liability.
Suitable location
Place the receiver on a stable and even base.
Avoid proximity to:
- heat sources, like e. g. heaters,
- naked flames, like e. g. candles,
- devices with strong magnetic fields, like e. g. loudspeakers.
- Never place receptacles filled with liquid (e. g. vases) on the
receiver
Avoid direct sunlight and places with an extremely high amount of dust.
Never cover ventilation slits. Ensure adequate ventilation of the receiver.
Do not place any heavy objects on the receiver.
Humidity may settle in the receiver if it is brought into hot
surroundings from a cold one. In this case, wait for about an hour before operating the equipment.
Arrange the mains and antenna cable in such a manner that no­one steps or trips over them.

Correct battery handling
Batteries may contain toxic agents. Ensure that batteries are not within the reach of children. Children may eat and swallow batteries.
Batteries that are getting discharged may damage the remote control. If the receiver is not in use for a longer period of time, remove the batteries from the remote control.
Batteries may contain toxic agents that are hazardous to the environment. Therefore, dispose of the batteries immediately according to the prevailing statutory regulations. Never throw the batteries into normal household waste.
Disposal
Never throw the digital terrestrial receiver or the batteries in normal household waste. Ask your municipal authorities or local government about different methods for disposing of the equipment in an eco-friendly and proper manner. Hand over used batteries to a collection centre.

Appropriate usage
The digital terrestrial receiver SL 65 T receives uncoded digital channels (free-to-air) in a covered area. It is exclusively meant for this purpose and should only be used for the same. This also includes paying attention to all information in this operating manual especially that of safety instructions.
Any other usage is considered to be improper and may lead to material damages and even personal injuries. Moreover, it will result in the immediate loss of warranty.
The manufacturer does not bear any liability for damages caused due to improper usage.

Description
With this receiver you are able to receive uncoded digital terrestrial channels (free-to-air) via a house or indoor antenna.
During the first operation, you will be led through the menu automatically. Required settings are made or you are asked for information. However, the receiver can also search for new channels at a later time as soon as you initiate the automatic scanning of broadcasting stations. All receiver settings can be done easily using the user interface (menu) on the TV screen.

Caution!
Remove all plastic wraps from the receiver before connecting it to the antenna. Otherwise the receiver can suffer damages.
Danger of overheating.
Connect the receiver to the antenna using an antenna cable.
Connect the receiver to the mains supply only after you have connected it to all equipment and the antenna properly. Otherwise the receiver can suffer damages.
The wire netting and the inner core of the coaxial cable carry current during operation if the 5V supply voltage is activated.
The coaxial cable is not included in the scope of supply.

Insert the SCART cable in the SCART socket “TV” on the receiver.
Connect the SCART cable to the TV set. Follow the operating manual of the TV set.
Insert the SCART cable in the SCART socket “VCR” on the receiver if you want to connect a video set.
Connect the SCART cable to the video set. Follow the operating manual of the video set.
Insert the Cinch connectors of the Cinch cable in the “AUDIO R” and “AUDIO L” sockets of the receiver if you want to connect a stereo system.

Connection with the YUV cable (YCbCr)
If you own a TV set with YUV connections, you can connect it via the SCART socket “TV“ to the receiver. For this purpose, you need a YUV cable with YUV connectors and YUF wiring at one and a SCART connector at the other extreme.
Connect the YUV cable (not included in the scope of supply) to the YUV connectors of the TV set.
Connect the SCART connector of the YUV cable to the SCART socket “TV“ on the receiver.
Follow the indications in the operating manual of the TV set.
The YUV cable is not included in the scope of supply.
Connect the SCART cable to the SCART socket “VCR” on the receiver if you want to connect a video set.
Follow the indications in the operating manual of the video recorder.

This YUV output is a special high quality output and particularly suitable for flat screens, plasma TV sets or video projectors (beamers). Please follow the indications in the operating manual of the connected devices.
Under the menu item “Settings – Audio/Video Settings” you can (among others) choose between the video output signals CVBS, RGB, and YUV (YCbCr).

Connection with the S-Video Cable (S-VHS)
Caution!
Strictly follow instructions for connecting the S-video cable (SVHS) given in the operating manual of your TV set.

The S-Video cable is not included in the scope of supply.
Insert the S-Video cable in the “S-VHS“ socket of the receiver. Connect the S-Video cable to the TV set. Insert the Cinch connector of the Cinch cable in the “AUDIO-R“
and “AUDIO-L“ sockets of the receiver. Connect the Cinch cable to your stereo system. Insert the SCART cable in the SCART socket “VCR” of the
receiver if you want to connect a video set. Connect the SCART cable to the video set.
 

Follow the operating manual of the video set.
Please set “CVBS” for this type of connection under the menu item "Settings – Audio/Video settings – TV SCART Mode“.
For sound reproduction you can connect your receiver to a hi-fi system or an audio digital receiver by alternatively using the coaxial, digital or optical connection. Additionally you have the option to connect the device to the TV set by using the audio connections AUDIO L and AUDIO R if the TV set offers this possibility. Please follow the instructions in the manuals of your TV set and/or your hi-fi system and/or your audio digital receiver.

Connection with the Cinch cable
If you own a TV set not provided with a SCART socket, you can connect the receiver via a Cinch cable.
Connect the “VIDEO“ socket of the receiver to the video input of the TV set.
Connect the “AUDIO-R“ and “AUDIO-L“ sockets of the receiver to the audio inputs of the TV set.
The Cinch cable is not included in the scope of supply.

Connection of an Audio-Digital Receiver
If you want to use 5-channel audio transmission (Dolby digital sound/AC3), you must connect your audio-digital receiver to the optical or coaxial output of the receiver.
Caution!
Never connect the Phono input of your stereo system to the receiver; it may damage your stereo system. Strictly follow the instructions for connecting the Cinch cable given in the operating manual of your stereo system.
Caution!
Please follow strictly the information regarding connection in the operating manual of your audio-digital receiver.
The optical and coaxial cables are not included in the scope of supply.
Your TV set need not be switched on for radio reception.

Caution!
Check that the connections of all equipment and the antenna are proper before connecting the receiver to the mains supply.
Insert the mains plug of the receiver in the mains socket.
Turn the mains switch to ON.
The device is in standby mode. The red LED is lit.
Insert the mains plugs of the connected equipment in the mains socket and switch them on.
Switch on the AV channel of the TV set.

The mains switch on the rear side of the receiver must be in position „ON“.
Press the “ “ key of the receiver or the remote control to change between standby and operation mode.
In the operation mode, the green channel-location indicator of the receiver is lit. Additionally, the red LED is lit.
Remote control
Two Micro type batteries are required for the remote control: LR 03/AAA/1.5 V (included in the scope of supply)
Open the battery compartment.
Insert two batteries according to polarities mentioned on the battery compartment. Push the cover of the battery compartment carefully until the cover is locked.
Replace discharging batteries on time. Otherwise the sending capacity of the remote control is too low.
Always replace both batteries simultaneously and use batteries of the same type.
Check the batteries of your remote control at least once a year.
If one battery has leaked, wear protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth.

The remote control transmits infrared signals to the receiver. Please refer to the overview of the remote control for the functioning of the keys.
Point the remote control towards the front side of the receiver and slightly press the corresponding key once.

Initial installation with the installation assistant
When switching on the receiver for the first time, the installation assistant will be invoked. It will lead you through all important points of initial installation. (The installation assistant will also be invoked if you load the company settings).
After having read the welcome screen, confirm with the “OK“ key to proceed.
Select your menu language with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Select the audio language with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Select your country and therefore your time zone with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Selecting the remote supply of the antenna
If you own an active antenna, you can put in electricity via the receiver using direct current of +5V.
Please follow the instructions in the operating manual of your antenna.
Select “Yes“ to activate the remote supply of the antenna.
If you do not wish to activate the remote supply of the antenna, select ”No“.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Press the “OK“ key to start the first scan of broadcasting stations.
Select “Yes“ and press the OK key if you wish to automatically include the channels found in the TV and radio channels list (If you select ”No“, the channels will not be stored and the current TV and radio channels list remains unchanged.). The channels list will be displayed and in the background, a programme of the updated channels list is running. Select the function “Select“ by pressing the yellow function key. Now, the TV and radio channels found are stored. Press the OK key to complete the installation process.

Select a channel
Press the “CH+“ or “CH–“ key of the remote control or the “CH–“ and “CH+“ keys of the receiver to go to the previous or next channel.
Volume
 
You can also go directly to a particular channel by entering the channel location number of the desired channel using the numerical keys. Changing the channel may require up to 5 seconds.
Press the “V+“ or “V–“ key of the remote control or the “VOL–“ and “VOL+“ keys of the receiver to increase or decrease volume.
Press the “MUTE“ key to mute the sound of the receiver. Press the “MUTE“ key to switch it on again.
Selecting radio or TV mode
With the “TV/” key you can switch between the TV and radio function.
 
Press the “TV/” key to use the receiver in the radio mode. Press the “TV/” key again to use the receiver in the TV mode.

Additional functions
Invoking the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG)
With this function, you can obtain information on the current programme.
To display further information
on the current programme,
on the next programme, or
on the programme of the selected channel
press the “EPG“ key during operation.
The individual programmes of the selected channel will be displayed on the screen.
Press the blue function key to receive detailed information on a programme after having selected the desired programme with the “CH+“ or ”CH-“ keys (the selected programme is marked yellow). The message displayed on the screen says “more“.
Press the yellow function key to set the timer in EPG mode.
Press the “EXIT” key (several times) to exit the screen.
This function can only be used if the selected channel supports it.

Starting Teletext
Press the TEXT key during operation to start Teletext.
It will be activated by selecting the menu item “Teletext” with the “OK” key.
In this menu you can also display subtitles.
Use the “CH+“ and “CH-" keys to switch between the pages. Use the “V+“ and “V-“ keys to move 100 pages forward or back. You can use the fast-text functions by pressing the function keys. With the numeric keys 0-9 you can select a page directly by entering the triple-digit page number.
Press the “EXIT“ key to quit Teletext.
This function can only be used if it is supported by the selected channel.

Selecting language or audio track
Press the “A/B“ key to invoke the language menu.
Select the desired language option by pressing the “CH+“ and “CH-“ keys and confirm your selection with “OK”.
LAST CHANNEL MEMORY function ”RECALL” key
With this function you can go back to the channel you have watched before changing over to the current channel.
Multi-functional keys
With the multi-functional keys in the colours: red (F1), green (F2), yellow (F3) and blue (F4) in the first row of your remote control you can carry out special functions in particular menus. On the screen, these additional functions are displayed in the colour you have to press on the remote control. Within this colour display, the special function is described.
Example:
In many menus you get help pressing the dark blue “F4“ key.
In normal mode, the following keys show:

Screen-inlays while switching a channel
When a channel is switched, an information bar is inlayed on the screen. This information bar can also be displayed by pressing the “INFO“ key. This way, you can obtain information on the current programme:
Press the “INFO“ key to display additional information on the screen.

Invoking menus
You can do individual settings of your receiver using the menus in the user interface. For this purpose, both the receiver and the TV set need to be switched-on and connected by a cable (SCART or CINCH).
The main menu will be displayed.
Press the “MENU” key to invoke the main menu.
Press the “EXIT” key to exit the main menu.

When activated, the channels will be arranged in a preset order. If you prefer to be able to change the order at will, please deactivate the LCN settings.
Navigating in menus and sub-menus
You can select several sub-menus in the main menu. With the multi­functional keys, diverse functions can be invoked. At the bottom of the screen you will get information on which of the multi-functional keys to use for which purpose. Within the menus you will get help by pressing the blue multi-functional key "F4“.
The colours are arranged from left to right at the bottom of the screen as follows:
red = F1 / green = F2 / yellow = F3 / blue = F4
Select a sub-menu or a menu item by pressing the keys “CH+“, ”CH–“, ”V+“ and ”V–“.
The selected menu items will be marked.
Confirm your selection by pressing the “OK” key.
You can:
- switch between the options by pressing the “V–“ or “V+” key.

- enter numbers with the numerical keys if the setting requires
a numerical entry.
Press the “EXIT“ key to return to the next higher menu level.
Press the “EXIT” key again to exit the main menu.
Please see the explanations at the bottom edge of the screen.
Example: Changing the time zone.
Press the “MENU” key.
Select the main menu “Settings“.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Select the menu item “Basic settings” with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Select the setting “Country” with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Select the desired setting (e.g. the country in which you are operating the receiver) with the “V–“ or “V+“ key.
The time zone will change automatically.
Confirm your selection by pressing “OK”.
To exit the menu, press the “EXIT“ key until the normal TV programme is displayed on the screen again.

Setting the language of the user interface (OSD)
In this main menu, you can set the language of the on-screen display (OSD).
You can choose between the following languages:

The displayed language indications are already shown in the language you have chosen.
Select the main-menu item “OSD-language“. Confirm your selection by pressing “OK”. Select the desired language with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys. Confirm your selection by pressing “OK”.
Press the “EXIT” key to return to the main menu.

You can add new channels by using the following scan options.

Auto search
With the automatic scan, the whole frequency range of the receiver will be scanned for new channels. It may take more than 15 minutes until the scan is complete.
Select “Auto search” with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm your selection by pressing “OK”.
Follow all further indications displayed on the screen.
Press the "F1“ key if you wish to abort the scan.
Extended search
With the extended scan, only certain channels and frequency ranges of the receiver are scanned for new channels. You will have to enter the start and end channel and the scan mode.
Select “Extended search” with the “CH–“ and ”CH+“ keys.
Confirm your selection by pressing “OK”.
Select the channel or frequency range with the “V–“ or “V+“ key.
Press the “CH–“ key to go to the next setting.
“Channel“ selected: use the “V–“ or “V+“ keys to set the channel where the search should start.
“Frequency“ selected: use the number keys 0-9 to enter the frequency at which the search should start (MHz) (after each entry, the cursor moves on to the next position in the entry field).
Press the “CH–“ key to go to the next setting
“Channel“ selected: use the “V–“ or “V+“ keys to set the channel where the search should stop.

Manual search
With the manual scan, you can scan for a particular channel. You can observe the scanning progress on the screen. As soon as the channel scan is complete, a message appears telling you how many channels have been found and how many of them are new channels. The channels are saved in the general list.

By pressing the green function “TS search“ key, the adjusted PIDs can be accepted. The function of the green function key is now known again as “PID search“.
This search method is only to be used by those who understand what they are doing! Entering a false PID will result in suboptimal tuning.
Press the “OK“ key or the red function key. The scanning process starts. You may select and change the PIDs correspondingly by pressing the green function key (only for experts!).
By pressing the yellow function key you can save the channels found in your TV and radio channels list.
Exit the menu item by pressing the “EXIT“ key (several times).

Change Receiver PIN
In the sub-menu “Change Receiver PIN“ you can change the password. You can change the PIN code set by the company and enter any other four-digit number as a personal PIN code. PIN code the settings of the receiver can be blocked. If you have activated the function “Parental control“, settings in the menus can only be done after having entered the PIN code.
The PIN code (password) “0000“ has been pre-programmed by the company.
 
For each figure entered, an entry field in the entry window will be marked with a “#”.
 
The new password is accepted. The display returns automatically to the menu item “Change PIN”.
Please memorize the new PIN code since only this new PIN code will be applicable to all code requests after carrying out the modification. If you have forgotten your personal PIN code, please contact the manufacturer or restore the company settings. By doing this, your personal settings will be deleted.
Select the sub-menu “Change Receiver PIN“. Enter the old PIN code by using the numerical keys.

On the screen, the signal strength and quality are displayed. The higher the sound of the acoustic signal meter, the better the signal quality.

Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
Here, the software and hardware version of the receiver is displayed.
Factory Settings
You can restore the original company settings (default settings) at any time. After that, the installation assistant will be invoked automatically, see initial installation. You can also delete the channel list completely.
Select the sub-menu “Factory settings“.
Select “Restore Factory settings“ if you wish to reset the receiver to its pre-programmed state. Select “Delete all Programs“ if you wish to delete the channels in the TV and radio channels list.
Press “OK“.
On the screen, a warning message appears.
The receiver is reset to its original settings. All your settings and stored data are deleted. Then, you must restart the channel scan.
Select “Yes“ to restore the company settings or to delete all channels.

Timer / Sleep timer
Your receiver is equipped with a timer. If you wish to record a particular programme with a connected video recorder, the recorder must be switched on. With the help of the timer you are also able to record TV programmes with your video recorder even if you are not personally present. At the pre-programmed time, the receiver switches over to the selected programme and returns to the standby mode after it has finished, provided that the settings are correct. The mains switch of the receiver must be switched on.
The timer can also be programmed via the EPG mode. Detailed information can be obtained directly in the programme guide.
Programming of recording data
Here, all recording events (i.e., manually and via EPG programmed events) can be displayed and modified with the functional keys. Die green functional key is used for deleting, the yellow one for modifying or new entry and the blue one for invoking the help function.

Red “Remove“ function key: To remove a channel from your “Favourite list”, choose the channel
with the “CH-“ and “CH+” keys and then press the red function key. To confirm, use the “V-“ and “V+” keys to select “Yes” and then press the “OK” key. The selected channel is now temporarily removed from the “Favourite list” category.
A channel which has been removed can be returned at any time by means of the “Provider” and “ABC” categories. This procedure is explained in the sections for each category.
Green „Parental“ function key (blocking channels): Please proceed as follows to activate the parental control (blocking
channels) for one or several channels:

press the yellow function key on the desired channel. You can now use the “CH-“ and “CH+” keys to move the channel to a different position. Press the “OK” key to confirm the new position. This channel list editor is only available in this category.

Red “Delete“ function key: To erase a channel, select the channel by using the “CH-“ and “CH+”
keys and then press the red function key. To confirm, select “Yes” with the “V-“ and “V+” keys and press the “OK” key.
The channel has now been deleted form your channel list. If you would like to record the channel again, you will need to re-enter by going to “Channel search” in the menu.
Green “Remove/Add“ function key: If a channel is marked with a hook, it is listed in the “Favourite list”
category. To remove it from this list, select it with the keys “CH+” and “CH-“ and press the green function key.
If the channel is not marked (has no hook), you can add it to the “Favourite list” category. Select it with the “CH+” and “CH-“ keys and press the green “Add” function key. The selected channel is now marked with a hook.
You can leave this application by repeatedly pressing the “EXIT” key.
The parental controls apply to all 3 categories.

Disconnect the receiver and connected equipment from the power
supply.
Remove the antenna cable from the receiver.
Take the batteries out of the remote control, if you will not use the
receiver for a longer period of time.
Pack up the receiver, the cables and the remote control in a
cardboard box.
Store the receiver and all accessories in a dry and dust-free
room.
Protect the receiver from frost.
Cleaning
Caution!
The receiver should not become wet. Never clean it with a wet cloth. Do not use any cleaning agent containing solvents like petrol or thinners for cleaning. These agents may damage the surface of the casing.
Clean the casing of the receiver with a dry cloth.
