Before the First Use
1) Before you use the deep fryer for the fi rst time please clean all individual components thoroughly and carefully dry them (see chapter “Cleaning and Care”).
2) Pull the timer q out from the deep fryer.
3) Open the battery compartment, take out the battery and remove the insulation strips from the battery compartment.
4) Insert the battery so that the side with “+” is facing upwards. Slide the battery compartment cover back on so that it engages.
5) Slide the timer q back into its recess in the deep fryer.
Low-Acrylamide Cooking
Acrylamide is a possibly carcinogenic substance formed from a reaction with amino acids when frying foodstuff s with a high starch content. The formation of acrylamide increases rapidly at temperatures of more than 175°C.
You should therefore avoid frying foodstuff s with a high starch content, for example chips, at temperatures above 170˚C. The foodstuff s should only be fried to goldenyellow, instead of dark or brown. This is the only way to achieve low-acrylamide cooking.

Frying
We recommend frying oil or liquid frying fat for use in this deep fryer. You can also use solid cooking fats. For this, fi rst read the chapter “Solid Cooking Fats”.

If you do not use the deep fryer regularly it is recommended that, after cooling, the oil or liquifi ed fat is poured into a well sealed container and stored in the refrigerator or a cool storeroom. Fill the container through a sieve, in order to remove any food particles from the oil or fat. Solid fats must still be in a liquid state so that they can be poured.

4) Place the operating/heating element 5 at a clean and dry location.
5) Carefully remove the stainless steel container 4 with the oil or fat from the deep fryer.
6) Pour the oil or fat into suitable containers, for example bottles. For this, use the pouring runnel at the corner of the stainless steel container 4.
NOTICE
The disposal of cooking oils and fats is regulated diff erently in every community
wn. Frequently, it is not permitted to dispose of such oils or fats with normal
or to household refuse. Make enquiries at your local community administration offi ce about suitable disposal sites.
7) Thoroughly clean all parts of the deep fryer as described in the chapter “Cleaning and Care”.
8) Refi ll the deep fryer with fresh oil or fat as described in the chapter “Frying”.
