SUV body. Sport sedan heart.
A soul that’s made of mettle.
What drives us to combine the race-bred performance of a Mercedes-Benz sport sedan with the legendary capability of our SUVs?
The same spirit of innovation that ’s been part of every Mercedes -Benz since inventing the automobile 125 years ago. After spending
years testing the GLK- Class over 1.5 million miles of punishing terrain, Arctic winters, African desert heat and dense urban jungles,
dimension: Brilliant performance. Advanced safety. Thoughtful technology. Enduring quality. Environmental responsibility. And of
course, distinctive design. Courage, boldness and strength of character — that’s the definition of mettle. And of the 2011 GLK-Class.

There’s nothing downsized about its performance. The GLK 350 may be the smallest Mercedes-Benz SUV, but driving it makes a super-sized impression. Quickly.
A 268-hp 3.5-liter V-6 revs eagerly and delivers the torque-rich response you need — anytime you demand it. Twin chrome exhaust tips punctuate a true dual exhaust
system, for the free -breathing power to conquer steep hills or hit 60 mph in a mere 6.5 seconds.1 Standard 19" — or optional 20" — wheels team up with a 4- wheel
multilink suspension with AGILITY CONTROL, an innovation that instantly recalibrates the shock absorbers with every change in the road surface. And unlike some
matic
compact SUVs, the GLK delivers the sport-sedan balance of rear-wheel drive or optional 4
all-wheel drive. In the GLK-Class, good times are always in season.
Twenty. Upgrade the largest standard wheels in its class to
even larger. Bold 7-spoke 20" wheels highlight the optional Appearance Package. Or take an aggressive stance with the AMG Styling Package’s 20" AMG twin 5-spoke wheels, plus sculpted lower bodywork and LED Daytime Running Lamps.
Four. Optional 4matic all-wheel drive integrates our 4-wheel
Electronic Traction System. 4 -ETS continually redistributes the engine’s torque to the wheels with the best grip — even if that’s only one wheel.2 With a permanent 45:55 front/rear torque split, 4matic offers sporty handling on dry roads, too.
Seven. No SUV in its class offers more gear ranges than
the GLK’s standard 7-speed automatic. Driver-adaptive logic matches its shift points to your driving style, or take charge with manual-style Touch Shift control. Sport and Economy modes let you emphasize performance or fuel-efficiency.
Rugged in unexpected locations.

Protective in nature. Proactive in behavior. Wherever you seek adventure in a GLK- Class, you travel with a legion of
reinforcements and a legacy of safety innovation. Nine standard air bags and an army of advanced safety systems are wrapped
in a high-strength steel body — all ready to respond as an integrated system of protection. And while its engineering is on
the cutting edge, its survival instincts have been honed for generations. After all, it’s a Mercedes-Benz — the pioneers of the
crumple zone, Electronic Stability Program, adaptive brakes, and countless preparations for when misadventure seeks you.
High-strength body. Approximately 70% of the GLK-Class body
structure is made from high- and ultra -high-strength steel. Advanced crumple zones, two steel beams in each door, and a rigid cabin shell help to divert impact energy over, under and around the occupants.
Advanced restraints. Nine standard air bags in the GLK-Class
offer 11-way protection. Innovative pelvic air bags complement the front-seat side-impact air bags, and a driver’s knee air bag augments dual-stage front air bags.3 Side curtain air bags are provided at all four outboard seating positions, along with seat-belt Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) and belt-force limiters. In a rear impact, NECK-PRO active front head restraints help to prevent whiplash.
Post-collision response. In the event that an air bag or seat-belt
ETD deploys, the optional Mercedes-Benz mbrace™ system includes Automatic Collision Notification, which initiates a call to our 24-hour emergency response center — even if you can’t.4 In addition, the GLK will automatically shut off its engine and fuel supply, turn on some cabin lights and the hazard flashers, partially open the windows to help ventilate the cabin, and unlock its doors to assist rescuers.
Brighter lighting. The optional Lighting Package features Bi-Xenon
headlamps with Active Curve Illumination, which can improve the lighting of curving roadways by up to 90% over conventional fixed headlamps. Headlamp washers, corner-illuminating front lamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps and LED rear turn signals are also included.
Emergency-sensing. Two safety systems originally introduced
to the automotive world by Mercedes-Benz help you avoid potential collisions. ESP,® our Electronic Stability Program, monitors the vehicle’s response to driving inputs such as steering and braking, and responds to help keep it on course during evasive maneuvers.2 And Brake Assist can apply full braking pressure if it detects an emergency braking situation by the speed at which the driver steps on the brake pedal — potentially shortening your stopping distance.
Adaptive brakes. Advanced braking innovations make the large
4-wheel disc brakes of the GLK-Class even more effective. When driving with the wipers on, Automatic Brake Drying periodically applies the brakes just enough to remove water build-up. Should you rapidly lift your foot from the accelerator, Predictive Brake Priming sets the pads closer to each disc, for quicker braking response.
