or near curtains, paper or easily inflammable materials.
► Make sure to leave enough free space around the appliance so
that the air can circulate well.
1) Place the appliance on a horizontal, level, stable and heat-resistant
surface.
NOTE
► If you wish to place the hot air fryer below the cooker extraction
hood, make sure that the cooker is switched off.

socket is always within easy reach while the appliance is in operation.

6. The best way to fry
■ As a rule, you don't need any oil to prepare food in the hot air
fryer. However, adding a few drops of oil can enhance the flavour.
Generally speaking, the hot air fryer can be used to prepare any
dishes that can be cooked in a convection oven.
■ To deep-fry in the hot air fryer, all food must be as dry as possible.
Dry the food well before adding it into the frying basket 2.
■ Waxy potatoes are best-suited for making potato dishes in the hot
air fryer. Rinse the sliced potato pieces in fresh water to prevent
them sticking to each other during cooking. Dry the potato pieces
off carefully before putting them in the hot air fryer.
■ Remove any ice crystals or frozen water thoroughly from frozen food.
■ Make sure that breadcrumbs do not come off the breaded food but
adhere as firmly as possible to the fried food.
■ Follow the preparation instructions on the packaging of the food.
Set the temperature and cooking time as recommended.
■ If there are no recommendations on the food packaging for prepara-
tion in a hot air fryer, follow the instructions for convection ovens.
■ Avoid frying large quantities at once. For ideal browning results,
we recommend cooking a maximum of 400–500 g of deep-frozen
chips at once.
■ Do not overfill the frying basket 2! Fill the frying basket to no higher
than the MAX marking. Make sure that the food you are frying cannot reach the heating element on the upper side of the interior.
■ Acrylamide is a possibly carcinogenic substance formed when frying
foodstuffs with a high starch content. Foods containing starch, such
as chips, should therefore only be deep-fried until golden yellow
instead of dark or brown. This is the only way to achieve low-acrylamide cooking.
■ To ensure even browning and a crispy consistency, e.g. for chips
or chicken nuggets, the fried food must be shaken or turned over
1–2 times during cooking.
– To do this, pull the pan 7 with the frying basket 2 out of the
appliance and shake the food or turn it over using a suitable
implement. Then put the pan 7 including the frying basket 2
back in place.
SHFD 1400 B2
GB│IE
│
11 ■
– When you remove the pan 7 with the frying basket 2 the cook-
ing programme is paused automatically. It restarts automatically
as soon as the pan 7 and the frying basket 2 are replaced.
■ You can also use the hot air fryer to prepare baked goods such as
muffins or small cakes. However, dough or batter should not be poured directly into the pan 7 or the frying basket 2. Instead, use
small baking moulds such as muffin tins, which you then place in the
frying basket 2.
7. Operation
RISK OF BURNS
► Parts of the appliance get very hot during use. Touching these may
cause serious burns.
► Use pot holders or protective gloves, if you have to touch the pan 7
or the frying basket 2.
► Hot air flows out of the ventilation slits 0 on the back of the appli-
ance. Do not touch this area.
► Do not move or reposition the appliance when it is in operation.
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
► Never use the pan 7 without the frying basket 2.
► Fill the frying basket 2 to no higher than the MAX marking and
make sure that the food does not touch the heating element inside
the housing 8.
1) Set up the appliance as described in the section Before first use.
2) Prepare the food according to the recipe and place it in the frying
basket 2.
3) Place the frying basket 2 into the pan 7. Make sure that the
