Proper use
The Ultimate Speed ULG3.8B1 is a multi-stage
car battery charger that is suitable for charging
and trickle charging up of 6V or 12V lead-acid
batteries (batteries) with electrolyte solution (WET),
electrolyte absorbent mats (AGM) or gel electrolyte
(GEL).
This appliance is not suitable for charging lithium-ion
batteries. The is not intended for commercial use
and is for indoor use only.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for
damage(s) arising out of usage contrary to the
instructions specified below.

■ Do not operate the appliance with
a damaged cable, supply cord or
mains plug. A damaged power
cord causes danger to life by electric shock.
■ If the supply cord is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly
qualified persons in order to avoid
a hazard.
■ The negative terminal clamp (black)
must be connected to the chassis
at least 10 cm away from the battery and the fuel line.
■ Now connect the charger to the
power supply.
■ Disconnect the charger from the
mains power supply after charging. Only then remove the terminal
clamp from the vehicle bodywork/
earth. Then remove the terminal
clamp from the vehicle bodywork/
earth.

■ Make sure that there are no sources
of open fire (flames, embers or
sparks) in the vicinity when charging or discharging batteries!

a standard 230V~50Hz,
equipped with an earthed neutral
conductor, a 16A fuse and a
residual-current circuit breaker
(RCCB)!
■ Disconnect the charger from the
mains before making connections to
the battery.

with a fuel line (e.g. petrol line)!
■ Make sure that no explosive and
flammable substances, e.g. petrol
or solvents, can be ignited when
using the charger!
■ Ensure that there is adequate venti-

■ Wear safety goggles! Wear
protective gloves! If your eyes or
skin come into contact with battery
acid, rinse the affected part of the
body with plenty of clear running
water and seek immediate medical
assistance!
■ Avoid an electric short-circuit when
connecting the charger to the battery. Connect the negative terminal
connecting cable to the negative terminal of the battery or to the vehicle
bodywork/earth only. Connect the
positive terminal connecting cable
only to the positive terminal of the
battery!
■ Do not set up the charger near a
fire or subject it to heat or to longterm temperatures exceeding 50°C!
■ When attaching the charger, be
sure not to damage any lines for
fuel, electricity, braking system,
hydraulics or water with screws!
■ Do not cover the charger with objects
of any kind!
■ Protect the electrical contacts of the
battery against short-circuiting!
■ Use the charger exclusively for
charging or trickle charging undamaged 6V/12V lead batteries! Frozen batteries may not be charged.
Operation
Before first use
♦ Before connecting the battery charger, read the
operating instructions of the battery thoroughly.
♦ In addition, observe the vehicle manufacturer’s
instructions for a permanently connected battery. Secure the vehicle; turn off the ignition.
♦ Clean the battery terminals. Ensure that no dirt
comes into contact with your eyes in the process.
♦ Provide for sufficient ventilation.
Connection
NOTE
►
There are two options for connecting the charger.
Connect the negative terminal connecting cable
(black) either directly to the negative terminal of
the battery or to the bodywork. Please also bear
in mind the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions.
♦ Before starting the charging or trickle charging
procedure on a permanently installed battery in
a vehicle, first disconnect the negative terminal
connecting cable (black) of the vehicle from the
negative terminal of the battery. The negative
terminal of the battery is usually connected to
the vehicle’s bodywork/earth.
♦ Then disconnect the positive terminal connect-
ing cable (red) of the vehicle from the positive
terminal of the battery.
♦ Clamp the positive terminal clamp (red)
charger to the positive terminal on the battery.
♦ Clamp the negative terminal clamp (black)
the charger to the negative terminal on the battery
or to the bodywork.
♦ Connect the mains cable of the battery
charger to the power socket.
♦ If the terminal clamps are connected incorrectly,

Select charging mode
You can choose between different charging modes
for charging various batteries at different ambient
temperatures.
Unlike standard battery chargers, this appliance has
a special function for reusing an empty chargeable
battery or accu. You can recharge a completely discharged battery/accu. A protection function against
incorrect connection and short circuiting ensures
safe charging. Due to the installed electronics, the
charger does not begin operation directly after
connecting the battery, but only starts after a
charging mode has been selected.
This prevents sparking, which often occurs when
connecting. In addition, the battery charger is controlled by an internal MCU (micro-computer unit).
Reset/deleting settings
♦ After connection to the power supply, the appli-
ance automatically returns to its initial state and
remains in Standby mode

Automatic battery recognition
As soon as the charger is connected the mains
power supply, the LED display on the appliance lights up.
The charger recognises the battery on the basis
of the following criteria:

greater than 15V, the battery is not suitable for

Pulse charging mode
The mode is suitable for the charging/regeneration
of empty, used and overcharged 12V lead-acid
batteries.
When the charger is connected to a battery and
the charging process starts it automatically recognises the battery voltage. It will switch to pulse
charging mode if the voltage is in the range of
7.5V ± 0.5V to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
This pulse charging process is continued until the
battery voltage has increased to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
As soon as this state is reached, the charger switches
over to the previously selected normal charging
mode.
Now the battery can be charged quickly and safely.
Most empty, used or overcharged batteries can be
regenerated and reused using this procedure.
NOTE
► During the pulse charging process, the LED
display
flashes.
Trickle charging
The charge is equipped with an automatic trickle
charging function. Depending on the voltage of the
battery, the charger reacts by supplying different
charging current. The battery can remain connected
to the charger for a long period of time.
Protective function of the appliance
If a non-standard situation should occur, such as
short circuiting, a critical voltage drop during the
charging process, an open circuit or reversed
connection of the output terminals, the charger
deactivates the electronic system and immediately
switches back to its initial state to avoid damage.

Warranty
The warranty provided for this appliance is
3 years from the date of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. Please
retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In
the event of a warranty claim, please contact
your Customer Service by telephone. This is the
only way to guarantee free return of your
goods.
The warranty only covers claims for material and
manufacturing defects, not for transport damage,
wearing parts or for damage to fragile components
such as switches or batteries. This appliance is
intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty is deemed void if this
product has been subjected to improper or inappropriate handling, abuse or modifications which
were not carried out by one of our authorised service centres. Your statutory rights are not restricted
in any way by this warranty. The warranty period is
not prolonged by repairs made under the warranty.

Rukovanje
Prije uključivanja uređaja
♦ Prije priključivanja punjača treba provjeriti
upute za uporabu baterije.
♦ Osim toga, pridržavati se treba i propisa proi-
zvođača vozila za bateriju koja je stalno priključena u vozilu. Osigurajte vozilo i isključite
kontakt.
♦ Očistite polove baterije. Pazite da oči pritom
ne dođu u kontakt s prljavštinom.
♦ Uvijek osigurajte dostatnu ventilaciju.
Priključivanje
NAPOMENA
► Punjač se može priključiti na dva načina. Priključni
kabel za minus pol (crni) može se priključiti ili
izravno na minus pol akumulatora, ili na karoseriju.
Pridržavajte se propisa proizvođača vozila.
♦ Prije postupka punjenja i održavanja punjenja
akumulatora stalno priključenog u vozilu, najprije odvojite priključni kabel minus pola (crni)
vozila s minus pola baterije. Minus-pol baterije
po pravilu je povezan sa karoserijom vozila.
♦ Nakon toga odvojite priključni kabel plus pola
(crveni) vozila s plus pola baterije (akumulatora).
♦ Priključite priključnu stezaljku plus pola (crvena)
punjača na plus pol baterije.
♦ Priključite priključnu stezaljku minus pola (crna )
♦ Odvojite uređaj od mrežnog napajanja.
♦ Skinite priključnu stezaljku minus pola (crna)

Odabir modusa punjenja
Za punjenje različitih baterija pri različitoj temperaturi
okoline možete birati između tri različitih modusa
punjenja.
U usporedbi sa konvencionalnim uređajima za punjenje baterija ovaj uređaj raspolaže specijalnom
funkcijom za ponovnu uporabu prazne baterije/
praznog akumulatora. Potpuno ispražnjenu bateriju/potpuno ispražnjen akumulator ponovo možete
napuniti. Zaštita od pogrešnog priključivanja i kratkog spoja omogućava siguran postupak punjenja.
Pomoću ugrađene elektronike uređaj za punjenje
ne stupa u pogon neposredno nakon priključivanja
baterije, nego tek nakon što je odabran modus za
punjenje. Na taj način sprječava se nastanak iskri,
koje se često pojavljuju za vrijeme postupka priključivanja. Nadalje, punjačem upravlja ugrađeni
MCU (mikroprocesorska jedinica).
Reset/brisanje postavki
♦ Nakon priključivanja na mrežno napajanje ure-
đaj se automatski prebacuje u osnovni položaj i
ostaje u Standby-modusu (modusu pripravnosti).

Kada je punjač priključen na bateriju i uređaj započne sa punjenjem, automatski prepoznaje napon
baterije. Prebacuje u impulsni modus punjenja,

Modus održavanja punjenja
Punjač raspolaže automatskim održavanjem punjenja. Ovisno o naponu baterije, punjač reagira
različitom strujom punjenja. Baterija može ostati
priključena na punjač duže vrijeme.
Zaštitna funkcija uređaja
Čim dođe do promjene situacije, poput kratkog
spoja, kritičnog pada napona tijekom punjenja,
otvorenog strujnog kruga ili obrnutog reda priključivanja izlaznih stezaljki, punjač isključuje elektroniku
i vraća u izvorne postavke sustava, kako bi se
izbjegla oštećenja.
Ukoliko ne vršite druga podešenja, sustav ostaje
u modusu Standby (pripravnost). Kod obrnutog
spajanja priključnih stezaljki (zamjene polariteta)
svijetli dodatno i LED-lampica „greška“
