Congratulations on the purchase of your new ap­pliance. You have selected a high-quality product.
The operating instructions are part of this product.
They contain important information about safety,
usage and disposal. Before using the product, please
familiarise yourself with all operating and safety
instructions. Use the product only as described and
for the range of applications specified. Please also
pass these operating instructions on to any future
owner.

Intended use

The Ultimate Speed ULG3.8B1 is a multi-stage
car battery charger that is suitable for charging
and trickle-charging 6V or 12V lead-acid batteries
(batteries) with electrolyte solution (WET), electro­lyte absorbent mats (AGM) or gel electrolyte (GEL).

This appliance is not suitable for charging lithium-ion
batteries. This appliance is not intended for com­mercial use and must be used indoors only.

The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for
damage(s) attributable to misuse.

tions. Failure to follow the warnings and

instructions may result in electric shock, fire

Safety information

The charger is suitable for indoor

use only.

■ This appliance may be used by chil-

dren aged 8 years and above and
by persons with limited physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge,
provided that they are under super­vision or have been told how to use
the appliance safely and are aware
of the potential risks. Children must
not play with the appliance. Clean­ing and user maintenance tasks
may not be carried out by children
unless they are supervised.

■ To avoid potential risks, damaged

mains cables should be replaced
by the manufacturer, their customer
service department or a similarly
qualified person.

Additional safety instructions

■ Do not use the charger for charging

non-rechargeable batteries.

■ Do not use the charger for charging

lithium-ion batteries.

■ Place the removed battery in a well-

ventilated location during charging.

■ The automatic mode of operation

and usage restrictions are explained
below in these operating instruc­tions.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!

■ Do not operate the appliance with

a damaged cable, power cord or
mains plug. Damaged power cords
are hazardous to life due to the risk
of electric shock.

■ Before connecting to the mains,

make sure that the mains current is a
standard 230V~50Hz, equipped
with an earthed neutral conductor,
a 16A fuse and a residual-current
circuit breaker (RCCB).

■ Disconnect the charger from the

mains before making connections
to the battery.

■ Always connect the positive terminal

clamp (red) first.

■ The negative pole terminal clamp

the chassis at a distance of at least
10 cm from the battery and the
fuel line.

■ Now connect the charger to the

power supply.

■ Disconnect the charger from the

mains power supply after charg­ing. Only then remove the terminal
clamp from the chassis. Then re­move the terminal clamp from the
chassis.

RISK OF EXPLOSION AND FIRE!

Protect yourself from a highly explosive
oxyhydrogen gas reaction!

■ Make sure that there are no sources

of open fire (flames, embers or
sparks) in the vicinity when charg­ing or discharging batteries!

■ Make sure that the positive terminal

connecting cable has no contact
with a fuel line (e.g. petrol line)!

■ Make sure that no explosive and

flammable substances, e.g. petrol
or solvents, can be ignited when
using the charger!

■ Ensure that there is adequate venti-

lation during charging.

RISK OF CHEMICAL BURNS!

■ Wear safety goggles! Wear pro-

tective gloves! If your eyes or skin
come into contact with battery acid,
rinse the affected part of the body
with plenty of clear running water
and seek immediate medical assis­tance!

■ Avoid an electric short-circuit when

connecting the charger to the bat­tery. Connect the negative terminal
connecting cable only to the nega­tive terminal of the battery or to the
coachwork. Connect the positive
terminal connecting cable only to
the positive terminal of the battery!

■ Do not set up the charger near a

fire or subject it to heat or tempera­tures exceeding 50°C for long
periods of time!

■ When attaching the charger, be

sure not to damage any lines for
fuel, electricity, braking system,
hydraulics or water with screws!

■ Do not cover the charger with

objects of any kind!

■ Protect the electrical contacts of the

battery against short-circuiting!

■ Use the charger exclusively for

charging or trickle charging undam­aged 6V/12V lead batteries!
Frozen batteries may not be charged.

Operation

Before use

♦ Before connecting the battery charger, read the

operating instructions of the battery thoroughly.

♦ In addition, observe the vehicle manufacturer's

instructions for a permanently connected battery.
Secure the vehicle; turn off the ignition.

♦ Clean the battery terminals. Ensure that your

eyes do not come in contact with the dirt in the
process.

♦ Ensure sufficient ventilation.

Connecting

NOTE

► There are two options for connecting the

charger. Connect the negative terminal
connecting cable (black) either directly to
the negative terminal of the battery or to the
chassis. Please also bear in mind the vehicle
manufacturer's instructions.

♦ Before starting the charging or trickle charging

procedure on a permanently installed battery in
a vehicle, first disconnect the negative terminal
connecting cable (black) of the vehicle from the
negative terminal of the battery. The negative
terminal of the battery is usually connected to
the vehicle's chassis.

♦ Then disconnect the positive terminal connecting

cable (red) of the vehicle from the positive termi­nal of the battery.

♦ Clamp the positive terminal clamp (red) of the

charger to the positive terminal on the battery.

♦ Clamp the negative terminal clamp (black)

of the charger to the negative terminal on the
battery.

♦ Connect the mains cable of the battery

charger to the power socket.

♦ If the terminal clamps are connected incorrectly,

the LED display "ERROR" will light up.

Disconnecting

♦ Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
♦ Remove the negative terminal clamp (black)

of the charger from the negative terminal on the
battery or from the chassis.

♦ Remove the positive terminal clamp (red) of

the charger from the positive terminal on the
battery.

Select charging mode

You can choose between different charging modes
for charging various batteries at different ambient
temperatures. Unlike standard battery chargers,
this appliance has a special function for reusing an
empty rechargeable battery. You can recharge a
completely discharged battery. A protection func­tion against incorrect connection and short circuit­ing ensures safe charging. Due to the installed
electronics, the charger does not begin operation
directly after connecting the battery, but only starts
after a charging mode has been selected. This pre­vents sparking, which often occurs when connect­ing. In addition, the battery charger is controlled by
an internal MCU (microcomputer unit).

Reset/deleting settings

♦ After connection to the power supply, the appli-

ance automatically returns to its initial state and
remains in Standby mode

and 4

Press the MODE selection button a corresponding
amount of times.

The appliance switches through the modes in the
following order: Standby (
2 ( ), Mode 3 ( ), Mode 4 ( ) and then starts
the next cycle.

NOTE

► If you press the MODE selection button ,

the charging mode automatically switches
to the next mode and begins operation in
that mode. If a 12 V battery is connected,
Mode 1 ( ) is not selectable. If a 6V
battery is connected, Mode 2 ( ) 3 ( )
and 4 ( ) are not selectable. If a battery is
not disconnected from the charging station
after a full charge, the appliance remains in
trickle-charge mode, even if the user switches
over to another mode. This protects the fully
charged battery from being damaged.

Mode 1 "6V" (7.3V/0.8A)

This mode is suitable for charging 6V lead-acid
batteries with a capacity below 14Ah.

♦ Press the MODE selection button , to activate

Mode 1 ( ). After doing so, the corresponding
LED display lights up. If you do not acti­vate another process afterwards, the electronic
system will automatically activate together with
the LED display and starts the charging
process. If the procedure runs without any prob­lems, the LED display remains on during
the entire charging process, until the battery
is fully charged to 7.3V/± 0.25V. When the

This mode is mainly used for charging 12V lead­acid batteries with a large capacity of more than
14Ah under normal conditions.

a capacity of more than 14Ah.

current is identical to that of "Mode 3" ( ).
If the procedure runs without any problems,

charged. When the battery is fully charged,
the LED display lights up and the LED
display goes out. The appliance now
switches automatically to trickle charging mode.

Automatic battery recognition

As soon as the charger is connected to the mains
power supply, the LED display on the device
lights up.

The charger recognises the battery on the basis of
the following criteria:

If the voltage of the battery is less than 3.8 V or
greater than 15 V, the battery is not suitable for
charging or defective. In this case, the LED Dis­plays
charger remains in "Standby mode” and cannot be
switched to another charging mode by means of
the MODE selection button .

Pulse charging mode

The mode is suitable for the charging/regeneration
of empty, used and overcharged 12V lead-acid
batteries.

When the charger is connected to a battery and
the charging process starts it automatically rec­ognises the battery voltage. It will switch to pulse
charging mode if the voltage is in the range of

7.5V ± 0.5 to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
This pulse charging process is continued until the

battery voltage has increased to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
As soon as this state is reached, the charger switch-

es over to the previously selected normal charging
mode.

Now the battery can be charged quickly and safe­ly. Most empty, used or overcharged batteries can
be regenerated and reused using this procedure.

NOTE

► During the pulse charging process, the LED

display flashes.

Trickle charging

The charge is equipped with an automatic trickle
charging function. Depending on the voltage of the
battery, the charger reacts by supplying different
charging current. The battery can remain connect­ed to the charger for a long period of time.

Protective function of the appliance

In the case of an incident such as short circuiting, a
critical voltage drop during the charging process,
an open circuit or reversed connection of the output
terminals, the charger deactivates the electronic
system and immediately switches back to its basic
state to avoid damage.

If you do not activate any settings, the system will
remain in Standby mode. If the terminals are incor­rectly connected (reverse polarity), the LED display
"ERROR" also lights up.

If the appliance becomes too hot during charging,
the power output is automatically reduced. This
also protects the appliance from damage.

Maintenance and cleaning

WARNING! Always remove the

power plug from the wall socket
before carrying out any work on
the battery charger.

The appliance is maintenance-free.

♦ Under no circumstances should solvents or other

aggressive cleaning agents be used.

♦ Clean the plastic surfaces of the appliance with

a soft, dry cloth.

Warranty

This appliance is provided with a 3-year
warranty valid from the date of purchase.
The appliance has been manufactured with
care and inspected meticulously prior to de­livery. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase. In the event of a warranty claim,
please contact your Customer Service unit by
telephone. This is the only way to guarantee
free return of your goods.

The warranty only covers claims for material and
manufacturing defects, not for damage sustained
during transport, wearing parts or damage to frag­ile components such as switches or batteries. This
appliance is intended solely for private use and not
for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be
deemed void in cases of misuse or improper hand­ling, use of force and modifications/repairs which
have not been carried out by one of our authorised
Service centres. Your statutory rights are not re­stricted by this warranty. The warranty period is not
prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty.
This also applies to replaced and repaired compo­nents. Any damage and defects present at the time
of purchase must be reported immediately after
unpacking, but no later than two days after the
date of purchase. Repairs carried out after expiry
of the warranty period shall be subject to charge.

Rendeltetésszerű használat

Az Ultimate Speed ULG3.8B1 elektrolit-oldatos
(WET), elektrolitot elnyelő szövetes (AGM) vagy
zselé-elektrolitos (GEL) technológiát használó 6V­vagy 12V ólomakkumulátorok (akkuk) teljes feltöl­tésére és fenntartó töltésére alkalmas többfokozatú
gépjárműakkumulátor-töltő készülék.

A készülék nem alkalmas lítium-ionos akkumulátorok
töltésére! A készülék kizárólag beltérben használ­ható és nem használható üzleti célra.

ÁRAMÜTÉS VESZÉLYE!

10 cm távolságra kell a karosszéri­ához csatlakoztatni.

■ Ezt követően csatlakoztathatja a

töltőt a tápellátó hálózatra.

■ A töltést követően válassza le a töl-

tőt a tápellátó hálózatról. Csak ezt
követően távolítsa el a csatlakozó­sarut a karosszériáról. Ezt követően
távolítsa el a csatlakozósarut az
akkumulátorról.

ROBBANÁS- ÉS TŰZVESZÉLY!

Előzze meg a rendkívül robbanásve­szélyes durranógáz-reakciót!

■ Ügyeljen arra, hogy töltéskor és

fenntartó töltéskor ne legyen nyílt
láng (láng, parázs vagy szikra) a
közelben!

■ Győződjön meg arról, hogy a po-

zitív pólusú csatlakozókábel nem
érintkezik üzemanyag-vezetékkel
(pl. benzinvezetékkel)!

■ Győződjön meg arról, hogy rob-

banásveszélyes és gyúlékony anya­gok - pl. benzin vagy oldószerek

- a töltőkészülék használata során
nem gyulladhatnak meg!

■ A töltés közben gondoskodjon meg-

felelő szellőzésről.

MARÁSVESZÉLY

■ Viseljen védőszemüveget! Viseljen

védőkesztyűt! Ha akkumulátorsav
került a szemébe vagy a bőrére,
öblítse le az érintett testrészt folyó,
tiszta vízzel és azonnal forduljon
orvoshoz!

■ A készülék akkumulátorra való

csatlakoztatásakor kerülje a rövid­zárlatot. A negatív pólusú csatlako­zókábelt kizárólag az akkumulátor
negatív pólusához, ill. a karosszé­riához csatlakoztassa. A pozitív
pólusú csatlakozókábelt kizárólag
az akkumulátor pozitív pólusához
csatlakoztassa!

■ Ne helyezze a töltőkészüléket tűz

és hőforrás közelébe vagy tartósan
50°C feletti hőmérsékletű helyre!

■ A töltőkészülék be-, illetve kiszerelé-

se során ne sértse meg a csavaros
üzemanyag-, elektromos, fék-, hidra­ulika és vízvezetékeket!

■ Ne takarja le a töltőt semmilyen

tárggyal!

■ Az akkumulátor elektromos érintke-

zéseit védje a rövidzárlattal szem­ben!

■ A töltőkészülék kizárólag sértetlen

6V /12 V ólom-akkumulátorok töl­tésére használható. Befagyott akku­mulátort nem szabad tölteni.

Használat

Üzembe helyezés előtt

♦ A töltőkészülék csatlakoztatása előtt olvassa el

figyelmesen az akkumulátor használati útmuta­tóját.

♦ Az állandóan járműre csatlakoztatott akkumu-

látor töltésénél figyelembe kell venni a jármű­gyártó előírásait is. Biztosítsa a gépjárművet,
kapcsolja ki a gyújtást.

♦ Tisztítsa meg az akkumulátor-pólusokat. Ügyel-

jen arra, hogy közben ne kerüljön szennyező
anyag a szemébe.

♦ Gondoskodjon megfelelő szellőzésről.

Csatlakoztatás

TUDNIVALÓ

► A töltőkészüléket kétféle módon lehet csatla-

koztatni. A negatív pólusú csatlakozókábelt
(fekete) közvetlenül az elem negatív pólusához
vagy a karosszériához kell csatlakoztatni.
Vegye figyelembe a járműgyártó előírásait is.

♦ Egy állandóan a járműre csatlakoztatott akku-

mulátor feltöltésének, illetve fenntartó töltésének
megkezdése előtt, először válassza le a jármű
negatív pólusú (fekete) csatlakozókábelét az
akkumulátor negatív pólusáról. Az akkumulátor
negatív pólusa általában a jármű karosszériájá­val van összekötve.

♦ Ezután válassza le a jármű pozitív pólusú (piros)

csatlakozókábelét az akkumulátor pozitív pólu­sáról.

♦ Csatlakoztassa a töltőkészülék pozitív csatla-

kozósaruját (piros) az akkumulátor pozitív
pólusához.

♦ Csatlakoztassa a töltőkészülék negatív csatla-

kozósaruját (fekete) az akkumulátor negatív
pólusához ill. a karosszériához.

♦ Csatlakoztassa a töltőkészülék hálózati csatla-

kozóvezetékét a csatlakozóaljzathoz.

♦ A csatlakozósaruk helytelen csatlakoztatása

esetén (pólus-felcserélés) világítani kezd a
„Hiba“ LED-kijelzés .

Leválasztás

♦ Válassza le a készüléket az elektromos hálózatról.
♦ Válassza le a negatív pólusú csatlakozósarut

(fekete) az akkumulátor negatív pólusáról,
ill. a karosszériáról.

♦ Válassza le a töltőkészülék pozitív csatlako-

zósaruját (piros) az akkumulátor pozitív
pólusáról.

Töltési üzemmód kiválasztása

A különböző akkumulátorok különféle környezeti
hőmérsékleten történő töltéséhez különféle töltési
üzemmódok közül választhat. A hagyományos
akkumulátortöltőkkel szemben ez a készülék üres
elemek/akkumulátorok újrahasznosítására szolgáló
különleges funkcióval is rendelkezik. A teljesen
kisütött elemet / akkumulátort is újra lehet tölteni.
A hibás csatlakoztatás és rövidzárlat elleni véde­lem biztosítja a biztonságos töltést. A beépített
elektronikának köszönhetően az akkumulátortöltő­készülék nem közvetlenül az akkumulátor csatla­koztatása után, hanem csak a töltési üzemmód
kiválasztása után kezd működni. Ily módon elkerül­hetők azok a szikrák, melyek gyakran csatlakozta­táskor lépnek fel. Az akkumulátortöltő-készüléket
beépített MCU (mikroszámítógép-egység) vezérli.

Rezet / Beállítások törlése

♦ Az elektromos hálózatra való csatlakoztatást

követően a készülék automatikusan alaphelyzet­be kapcsol és készenléti üzemmódban marad.

Átkapcsolás az 1, 2, 3 és 4 üzemmód
között

Nyomogassa egymás után a MODE kiválasztó­gombot .

A készülék az alábbi sorrendben kapcsolja az
egyes töltési üzemmódokat: Készenléti üzemmód
( ), 1. üzemmód ( ), 2. üzemmód ( ), 3. üzem­mód (
