Carefully read and understand this manual and any label attached to the tool before use. Keep these instructions with the product for future reference. Ensure all persons who use this product are fully acquainted with this manual.

Even when used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk factors. Use with caution. If you are at all unsure of the correct and safe manner in which to use this tool, do not attempt to use it.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/ or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work Area Safety

a)Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents

b)Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes

c)Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.

Distractions can cause you to lose control

Electrical Safety

a)Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock

b)Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded

c)Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock

d)Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock

e)When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock

f)If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use

a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock

NOTE: The term “residual current device (RCD)” may be replaced by the term “ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)” or “earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB)”.

Personal Safety

a)Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.

A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury

b)Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.

Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries

c)Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents

d)Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury

e)Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations

f)Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts

g)If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards

Power Tool Use & Care

a)Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed

b)Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.

Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired

c)Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally

d)Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these

instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users

e)Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools

f)Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control

g)Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation

Service

a)Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained

Battery & Battery Charger

Use the battery charger correctly

Refer to the section of this manual relating to use of the battery charger before attempting to charge the battery

Do not attempt to use the charger with any batteries other than those supplied. Keep the battery charger clean; foreign objects or dirt may cause a short or block air vents. Failure to follow these instructions may cause overheating or fire

Use batteries correctly

Only charge batteries using the charger provided. Only use batteries provided with this power tool, or others recommended by the supplier. Keep batteries clean; foreign objects or dirt may cause a short. Allow batteries to cool for 15 minutes after charging or heavy use. Failure to follow these instructions may cause overheating or fire

When not in use, batteries should be stored in a dry place, near to room temperature (20˚C). Ensure that batteries cannot accidentally short in storage

Multi-Cutter Safety

Take care to avoid hidden wiring and piping when using this tool

Contact with electric or gas lines can lead to fire, electric shock and explosions. Penetrating a water line can result in damage to property and electric shock. Use appropriate detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work area

If a cutting accessory makes contact with a ‘live’ wire, the exposed metal parts of the power tool may become ‘live’ and could give the operator an electric shock. Hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces at all times during use

Keep your workplace clean. Blends of materials are particularly dangerous. Dust from light alloys can burn or explode

Do not scrape wet or damp materials (eg wallpaper) or use this tool on moist surfaces. Penetration of water into the machine increases the risk of electric shock

Do not treat the work surface with fluids containing solvents. When materials become warm from scraping, toxic vapours may develop

Use this tool for dry sanding only. Penetration of water into the machine increases the risk of an electric shock

Secure the workpiece with a clamp or vice

Keep hands away from the cutting range

Do not reach under the workpiece. Contact with the blade can result in serious injury

Wear protective gloves when changing application tools/accessories. Application tools/accessories become hot after prolonged usage

Hold the tool firmly with both hands

Exercise extreme caution when handling this tool

Sawing

Ensure the saw blade is sharp and in good condition

Do not use saw blades that are damaged or deformed in any way

When sawing light building materials, follow the recommendations of the material suppliers

Apply plunge cuts to soft materials ONLY, for example wood, gypsum plasterboard etc

If using HCS saw blades, ensure there are no nails or screws embedded in the workpiece. If necessary, remove embedded objects or use BIM saw blades instead

Sanding

The removal rate and the sanding pattern are primarily determined by the choice of sanding sheet, the preset oscillation rate and the applied pressure

Only flawless sanding sheets achieve good sanding capacity and extend the service life of the machine

Pay particular attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this increases the working life of the sanding sheets

Intensifying the sanding pressure will not lead to an increase of the sanding capacity, but to increased wear of the machine and the sanding sheet

For precise on-the-spot sanding of edges, corners and hard to reach areas, it is also possible to work only with the tip or an edge of the sanding plate

A sanding sheet that has been used for sanding metal should not be used for sanding other materials

Always connect dust extraction when sanding

6

Scraping

For scraping, select a high oscillation rate

On soft surfaces (e.g. wood), work at a flat angle and apply only light pressure so that the scraper does not cut into the surface

Checking the battery level

To check the level of charge in the battery, press the Battery Charge Level Indicator Button (10) in the base of the Battery Pack (9)

There are three indicator lights: red, amber and green

When all lights are illuminated, the battery is fully charged. When only the red light is illuminated, the battery charge level is low

The battery can be placed on charge at any time as the intelligent charger will charge from any level of existing charge in the battery

Charging the battery

Note: Before charging check the contacts of the battery and charger battery socket are clean and in good condition

1.Depress the clip at the back of the Battery Pack (9) to remove the battery from the tool

2.Connect the Charger (11) to the mains power. The green light on the charger will illuminate

3.Insert the battery into charger so it is fully recessed into the charger battery socket . This ensures the battery and charger contacts are connected correctly. The red light will flash evenly, indicating the battery is receiving charge

4.If both the red and green lights illuminate, the battery is not fully inserted in the charger. Adjust position of battery until it is fully inserted and red light begins to flash evenly

5.When the battery has reached 90% charge, the green LED will flash. At 100% charge the green LED will display solid green

6.After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use

7.Disconnect the charger from the power supply and store in a clean, dry environment out of the reach of children

8.Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and do not store batteries on charge

WARNING

Do not store battery pack for long periods discharged. Always fully charge the battery pack before long term storage

There are 3 battery cell protection features built into this product that protect the battery from being fully discharged, over-charged and from excessive current demands from the tool

IMPORTANT: Failure to follow the correct charging procedure may result in permanent damage to the batteries

Maintenance

Cleaning

Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, shortening the machine’s service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes

Storage

Store this tool and accessories in a dry, secure place, out of the reach of children

Disposal
