Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have clearly decided in favour of a high-quality product. These operating in-
structions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use this appliance only as described and only for the specifi ed areas of application. In addition, pass these operating instructions on to whoever might acquire the appliance at a future date.

Intended use
This Hair Straightener is intended for the smoothing of human hair, under no circum­stances may it to be used for wigs and hairpieces made of synthetic material. This appliance is intended for domestic use only. Pay heed to all of the informa­tion in this operating manual, especially the safety instructions. This appliance is not intended for commercial applications.
This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those de­tailed. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability.

Safety instructions
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Connect the appliance only to mains power
sockets supplying a mains power voltage of 220 - 240 V ~ / 50 Hz.
In the event of operating malfunctions, and be-
fore cleaning the appliance, disconnect the plug from the mains power socket.
To disconnect the power cable, always pull the plug
from the socket, do not pull the power cable itself.
Ensure that the power cable does not become
wet or moist use. Route the cable in such a way that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
Should the appliance, the power cable or the
plug become damaged, arrange for them to be repaired by Customer Services to avoid hazard-

ous situations.
Do not use the appliance outdoors.Do not use extension cables – this will make it
easier to disconnect the appliance quickly in an emergency.
Never get hold of the appliance, the power
cable or the power plug with wet hands.
Do not crimp or crush the power cable, and
route the cable so that it cannot be stepped on or tripped over.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Do not wrap the power cable around the appli-
ance, and protect it from being damaged. Under no circumstances must the appliance be submersed in fl uids or fl uids be allowed to permeate the housing. The appliance must not be exposed to moisture or used outdoors. If the housing is pen­etrated by liquid, disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket immediately and have it repaired by a qualifi ed technician.
Unplug the appliance immediately after use.
The appliance is completely free of electrical power ONLY when unplugged.
Never use the appliance near water, and keep it away from sinks, baths and other similar con­tainers. The proximity of water is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off . Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket after use. As additional protection, the installation of a residual current circuit-breaker with an acti­vation power rating of not more than 30mA is recommended for the power circuit in the bath­room. Ask your electrician for advice.

Do not operate the appliance if it has sustained
a fall or is damaged in any way. Have the ap­pliance checked and/or repaired by qualifi ed technicians if necessary.

age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities orlack of experience and/or knowledge if they are being supervised or have been instructed with regard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks.

Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the
appliance yourself. Should you do so, the safety of the appliance is no longer assured and the warranty will become void. Only allow authorised technicians to repair a defective appliance if repairs become necessary.
The appliance becomes hot during use. Always
hold the appliance using the grip when it is hot.

Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance against transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.
The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves raw material and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed as per the regionally established regulations.

If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty
period so that, in the event of a w pliance ideally for its return.

Before straightening
The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. Excepted are the
special products that support a straightening of the hair.
Comb the hair thoroughly before straightening so that there are no knots in it.

The hotplates 6 must be free from contamination of all kinds. If necessar
clean them before taking them into use (see chapter "Cleaning").

The appliance is locked, the locking device 4 is pressed in on the side
1) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
2) Press and hold the On/Off button 3 until the display 1 is illuminated. The display 1 shows the programmed temperature. The colour of the display 1 indicates whether the temperature has already been reached:
– red: the temperature has not yet been reached. – blue: the programmed temperature has been reached.

3) Select the appropriate temperature for your hair:
– 130 - 140°C, minimum heat level, for very fi ne hair. – 140 - 160°C, low heat level, for fi ne hair. – 160 - 180°C, medium heat level, for normal hair. – 180°C- MAX, highest heat level, for thick or diffi cult to shape hair
Press the temperature button 2 on the side marked “+” to increase the temperature. Press the temperature button 2 on the side marked “ -” to reduce the temperature.
4) As soon as the display 1 colours itself blue, the programmed temperature has been reached.
5) Press the hotplates 6 together and, at the same time, press the locking device 4 on the side
NOTICE
This appliance has a memory function. This means that, every time the
appliance is switched on, the temperature set at the last use is the star temperature.
Straightening hair
NOTICE
This Hair Straightener is equipped with an ionising function. The ionisation
function ensures that a static charging of the hair is neutr celled. The hair becomes soft, supple, shiny and easier to style. The ionisa­tion function is activated automatically when you use the Hair Straightener.
1) Prepare the hair as described in “Before straightening”.
2) Start with the lower hair segments at the back of the head. Work over the sides to the front: Separate a 2 cm wide strand of hair and then hold the end fi rmly between the index and middle fi ngers of the hand with which you are not guiding the Hair Straightener.

3) Clamp the hair strand between the hotplates 6 close to the skin and then press them together.
4) Pull the whole strand of hair through the hotplates 6 by pulling the straight- ener down quickly from the roots to the tips.

5) Repeat the process with each individual strand.
6) When you have smoothed all of the strands, press and hold the On/Off button 3 until the display 1 lighting switches off . OFF appears in the dis­play 1 and the indicator HOT fl ashes until the appliance has cooled down.
7) Remove the plug from the mains power socket. All display indicators are extinguished.
8) Press the hotplates 6 together and then press the locking device 4 on the side

Safety switch off
This appliance is equipped with a safety switch off . After about 30 minutes without activation of a button, the appliance will switch off automatically. After about 25 minutes, the display 1 begins to blink alterna­tively red and blue, to remind you of the automatic switch off . If the display has switched itself off after 30 minutes, the display indicates “Auto Off ” and “hot”. If you wish to use the appliance for more than 30 minutes, before the 30 minutes have lapsed press any button. The 30 minute period then starts over again.
NOTICE
The safety switch-off does not replace manual switching off with the On/
Off button 3 forgotten!

Under no circumstances may you immerse the appliance in water or other
liquids when cleaning it!

Storage
When the appliance is cooling down, always place it on a heat-resistant
surface or hang the appliance up by the suspension loop.
If you do not intend to use the appliance for some time:
Clean the appliance as described in the section “Cleaning”.
Press the hotplates 6 together and then press the locking device 4

Disposal of the appliance
Do not dispose of this appliance in your normal domestic waste.
This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC.
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your
community waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.

The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our Customer Service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
