Correct usage
Before using the appliance for the
first time, read the operating instructions carefully. They contain important notes on safety, operation and care of the appliance. This way you will avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance.
For safety reasons this appliance
must only be operated as a built-in appliance. This is necessary to ensure that all electric components are shielded.
This appliance is intended for do-
mestic use to cook food, and in particular to bake, roast, defrost, dry fruit etc. and to grill. Any other usage is at the owner’s risk and could be dangerous. It must not be used for commercial purposes. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use of the appliance.
Do not use the oven to heat up the
room. Due to the high temperatures radiated, objects left near the oven could catch fire.
9
Warning and safety instructions
Taking care of the appliance
Do not store any inflammable ob-
ject in the oven. This could be a fire hazard if the oven were turned on inadvertently.
When cleaning the the oven inte-
rior surfaces and accessories which have been treated with PerfectClean enamel, it is essential to follow the cleaning instructions given in the section "PerfectClean"
Never line the floor of the oven with
aluminium foil when operating the oven. Never place a dish, tin, baking tray or similar object on the floor of the oven. This would block the heat and could damage the PerfectClean enamelling. Do not push pots and pans around on the oven floor as this could damage the surface.
Put any deep frozen products
such as pizza on baking paper on the rack. Do not place them on the baking tray or in the grill pan / oven tray. This could cause the metal to distort.
Do not heat up unopened tins or
jars of food in the oven, as pressure can build up and they may explode. This could result in injury or damage.
Cover any food which is left in the
oven to be kept hot. This avoids the food drying out. It also prevents steam condensing and possibly leading to moisture damage in the oven.
.
Fruit juice drips or splashes may
leave marks behind. These may still be visible even when splashes have been removed properly.
Under no circumstances use a
steam cleaner to clean this appliance. The steam could attack the electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Do not lean or sit on the open oven
door, or place heavy objects on it. This could damage the apppliance. The oven door can suppport a maximum load of 10 kg. Keep children well away.
Only use the roast probe (core tem-
perature probe) supplied with the appliance. Any other could damage the electronic controls.
The cover flap to the roast probe
socket should be closed after use, to protect the socket from moisture. Wait until the flap has cooled down sufficiently to be touched.
To prevent the risk of damage do
not leave the probe in the oven when not in use.
When using the probe keep the
cable well away from the top element. Do not use the probe to grill, or leave it in the oven when using the grill. The high temperatures could cause the plastic parts to melt.
10
Warning and safety instructions
Caution - danger of burning
The oven interior and the inside of
the door, as well as the upper area of the outer door get hot during use and stay hot for some time after the oven is switched off. Keep children well away.
Always wear heat-resistant oven
gloves or use heat-resistant pot holders when placing food in the oven or removing it. Take care not to let pot holders or gloves get damp or wet, as this causes heat to transfer through the material quicker with the risk of burning yourself. Take great care to avoid coming into contact with the top / grill element inside the oven, as this becomes very hot.
Never add water directly to food
on a hot baking tray or grill pan/oven tray or directly onto food in a hot oven. The steam created could cause serious burns and the sudden change in temperature can damage the enamel.
Do not leave the appliance unat-
tended when cooking with oils and fats as these can be a fire hazard if allowed to overheat.
If oil or fat does catch fire despite
this do not attempt to put out the flames with water. Use a suitable fire blanket or fire extinguisher.
If alcohol such as rum, cognac,
wine etc. is used in cooking, high temperatures in the oven can cause the alcohol to vaporise. Please take note that under adverse circumstances the alcohol can catch light on the hot elements.
11
Warning and safety instructions
Repair work
Should a fault occur switch the ap-
pliance off. The appliance is only completely isolated from the electricity supply when it is switched off at the wall socket, or the mains fuse is withdrawn, or the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is applicable). Ensure power is not supplied to the appliance while maintenance or repair work is being carried out.
Repairs may only be carried out by
a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with national and local safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for unauthorised work.
Repairs to the appliance while it is
still under guarantee must only be carried out by an authorised service agent. Otherwise any subsequent repair work will not be covered by the guarantee.
On no account should the ap-
pliance housing be opened. Tampering with electrical connections or components and mechanical parts is highly dangerous to the user and can cause operational faults.
12
Warning and safety instructions
Other dangers
When using kitchen appliances
connected to sockets near the oven, ensure that the cable cannot get trapped in a hot oven door, which could melt the cable insulation and be dangerous. Danger of electric shock.
Take care in the region of the oven
door hinges. Keep children well away.
Always ensure that food is suffi-
ciently cooked or reheated. Many factors will affect the overall cooking time, including the size and amount of food, its temperature, changes to the recipe and the shape and size of cooking container. Some foods may contain micro organisms which are only destroyed by thorough cooking at a high temperature for a sufficiently long period of time. Therefore when cooking or reheating foods, e.g. poultry, it is particularly important that food is fully cooked through. If in doubt select a longer cooking or reheating time. It is important that the heat is allowed to spread evenly throughout the food being cooked.
Do not use plastic containers. They will melt at high temperatures
and could catch fire.
Keep children away from the appliance if it is switched on.
In countries where there are areas
which may be subject to infestation by cockroaches or other vermin, pay particular attention to keeping the appliance and its surroundings in a clean condition at all times. Any damage which might be caused by cockroaches or other vermin will not be covered by the appliance guarantee.
Before discarding an old ap-
pliance switch off and disconnect it from the power supply. Cut off and render any plug useless. Cut off the cable directly behind the appliance to prevent misuse. This should be done by a competent person.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by noncompliance with these Warning and Safety instructions.

Caring for the environment
The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled.
Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children. Danger of suffocatiion!
Rather than just throwing these materials away, please ensure they are offered for recycling.
Disposal of your old appliance
Old appliances contain materials which can be reclaimed or recycled. Please contact your dealer, your local waste collection centre or scrap merchant about potential recycling schemes, before disposing of the appliance.
Ensure that the appliance presents no danger to children while being stored for disposal. Switch off and disconnect it from the power supply. Cut off and render any plug useless. Cut off the cable directly behing the appliance to prevent misuse. This should be done by a competent person.

Cleaning and heating up for the first time
Before using for the first time proceed as follows:
Remove any stickers or labels from the oven floor and the accessories.
Clean the appliance and accessories with a mild solution of hot water and a little washing up liquid and then rub dry. Then heat the empty oven for at least one hour as follows:
Turn the oven function control to Top and Bottom heat the pre-set temperature from 190 °C to 275 °C (see section on “Adjusting the pre-set temperature”).
A and increase
It is important to ensure that the room is well ventilated. We recommend that you vacate the room while your are heating the oven up for the first time.
Metal components have a protective coating which may give off a slight smell the first time your new appliance is heated up.
The smell and any vapours will dissipate after a short time and do not indicate a faulty connection.

Adjusting the pre-set temperature
Our test kitchen cooked different dishes to establish optimum temperatures for the oven functions. The preset temperatures are based on these results.
However, you can alter the pre-set temperatures for all the oven functions (except Defrost which does not use heat) at any time within a range of between 30 °C and 275 °C in 5 °C steps.
To adjust:
While the pre-set temperature is showing in the temperature display, turn the oven function selector gently clockwise (to increase the temperature) or anti-clockwise (to lower the temperature), until the temperature you require is shown in the temperature display.

Trays, pans and racks
The rack can be used for baking, roasting and grilling. It can be used either way up, giving a choice of two different heights to suit the recipe.
The trays, pans and racks are fitted with small safety notches to prevent them tipping when being pulled part way out of the oven. Push them into the oven with the safety notches (see ar- rows) to the rear of the oven.
22
Use
Handle
For taking the grill pan / oven tray, baking tray, or rack out of the oven, or putting them into it. Push the front section of the handle underneath the accessory (see illustration) and attach the hooks over the rim at each side.
Door contact
If the oven door is opened while the oven is operating, a door contact switch (see arrow) automatically switches off the oven (and the fan), except with Defrost. The cooling fan continues to operate.
After the door has been opened the oven lighting stays on for 2 minutes if the temperature is above 50 °C, and for 10 minutes if the temperature is below 50 °C. After that the lighting switches off automatically.

The roasting filter should be removed when baking using Fan heat, as otherwise baking times will be longer and browning may be uneven.

Hints on baking
– Top heat
brown a topping, make au gratin dishes or brown souffles or meringues.
– Use the grill pan / oven tray when
baking cakes with a deep fresh fruit filling, e.g. plum or damson. This will avoid juices from spilling over and will make it easier to clean the oven.
Splashes of fruit juice can leave marks which cannot be removed afterwards.
– Use dark coloured tins for baking.
These conduct the heat more swiftly to the mixture. Uncoloured tins reflect the heat away, so cakes take longer to cook and do not brown evenly.
– Bread dough can be put in the oven
to rise. Turn the oven function selector to Fan heat temperature to 30°C. Cover the container.

Hints on roasting
Ensure that the roasting filter is fitted in front of the fan in the back of the oven when roasting on the rack or in an open dish.
Splashes of fat can leave marks on the grill pan / oven tray which cannot be removed afterwards.
– For a crispy finish use the Fan grill
system grill and the fan work together. Turning is not necessary. On the whole, splashes are avoided and the oven interior walls stay relatively clean.
– The roast probe can be used in con-
junction with the Fan grill system for roasting large pieces of meat. See the next section for information.
– You can also roast with Top and bot-
tom heat temperature approx. 20-30 °C higher than is stated in the table. With Fan heat turn the temperature down to approx. 165 °C after about 15-20 mins. of roasting. The oven can get more heavily soiled than when using the Fan grill system
N in which Infra-red full
A or Fan heat D. Set the
N.
– Put joints for roasting e.g. pork with
crackling, as well as poultry or poultry pieces directly on the rack, with the grill pan / oven tray on the runner underneath. This enables the meat to brown on all sides and the pan catches the juices.
– For braising, however, place the
meat directly into a roasting dish or the grill pan / oven tray.
– Always place the roast in the centre
of the oven. Very tall roasts and large poultry should be placed on the lowest shelf level.
– The traditional British method of cal-
culating roasting time is to allow 15 to 20 minutes to the lb., according to the type of meat, plus approx. 20 minutes, adjusting length of time as roasting proceeds, to obtain the required result. Alternatively, roasting time can be calculated by the height of the joint. Calculate approx. 10-12 minutes per centimeter height of meat.
– Meat which has been stored at a
very low temperature will need a longer roasting time than that given in the chart.
Always defrost meat before cooking. If adding salt to meat only do so
shortly before roasting to prevent the meat losing its juices.
– Since there is no need to baste when
roasting with the Fan grill system
N salt and seasoning should be
rubbed into the meat before roasting. Adding a little oil makes it easier to rub dry herbs into the meat.
28
Roasting
– If the overall cooking time is quite
long and if vegetables, such as onions, tomatoes, carrots etc. are to be added to the roast, we recommend that you do not add these until more than half-way through the cooking time. Otherwise they can become too dark and give the gravy a bitter taste.
– If a recipe calls for broth, stock or
water to be added (e.g. half-way through cooking time), this should always be heated first before adding to the roast.
– Allow a standing time of approx. 10
minutes after the end of cooking so that the meat juices are evenly distributed.
Tips on saving energy
– It is not necessary to pre-heat the
oven before roasting.
– More than one piece of meat can be
roasted side by side.
– Switch the oven off approx. 5
minutes before the end of cooking time and leave the roast to stand for 5-10 minutes in the closed oven to make use of the residual heat.
29
Roasting
Roasting with the roast probe
How it works
The roast probe works in conjunction with an oven function e.g. Fan grill. The oven function provides the heat and the roast probe measures the core temperature of the food enabling consistent results every time you roast. The duration of the programme and time it ends depend on the temperature of the food to start with. The oven switches itself off automatically when the core temperature of the food being cooked reaches the set temperature.
The roast probe can be used with all oven functions, except “Defrost” , Economy grill" and Infar-red full grill".
Ensure that the roasting filter is fitted in front of the fan in the back of the oven when roasting on the rack or in an open dish.
Proceed as follows:
From the right hand side, insert the tip of the probe into the middle of the meat. Ensure that it is not touching any bones, and that the tip is not sticking into a layer of fat.
Place the roast in the middle of the oven, on the rack with the grill pan / oven tray underneath, or in the grill pan / oven tray.
Raise cover flap and insert the probe plug into the socket until it engages.
When you have finished using the probe, remove the plug from the socket and close the cover flap (when it is cool to the touch).
Take care as the probe shaft may be hot.
Never leave it in the oven when not in use. It could get damaged by the heat produced in another programme. Keep it in a safe place, in a drawer, for example.
30
Make sure the probe cable cannot come into contact with the grill element.
Roasting
Select the oven function you require, e.g. Fan grill
The pre-set temperature for the function selected (e.g. 165 °C) will appear in the temperature display for a few seconds.
The temperature display then changes to show: the actual core temperature in the meat (e.g. 30 °C) to the left of the colon. The pre-set recommended final core
temperature (80 °C) appears to right of the colon.
N.
:
If no further entries are made, the oven will start automatically after a few seconds using these settings. The rise in temperature in the roast will be shown on the left of the temperature display.
Note that 25 °C is the lowest temperature which can be shown. Higher temperatures are not displayed until the core temperature has risen above 25 °C. However, the pre-set recommended final core temperature can be altered and / or the start time delayed.
31
Roasting
Altering the pre-set recommended final core temperature
The pre-set recommended final core temperature can only be altered if both temperature values (the actual core temperature on the left and the final core temperature on the right) (e.g. 30:80) are displayed.
If this is not the case, – wait for a few seconds until the tem-
perature display changes
– check that the roast probe is cor-
rectly inserted in the socket.
Setting:
As soon as the two temperature values appear in the display, turn the function selector gently clockwise or anti-clockwise. Turning clockwise increases and turning anti-clockwise reduces the final core temperature on the right of the colon in 1 °C- steps (e.g.to 76 °C).
Altering the pre-set recommended oven temperature
The pre-set recommended oven temperature can also be changed. The oven temperature (e.g. 165 °C) must be showing in the temperature display.
If the core temperature is showing, pull the oven function selector out a little to switch back to the oven temperature.
Proceed as follows:
While the pre-set recommended oven temperature is lit up, turn the oven function selector gently clockwise to increase or anti-clockwise to lower the temperature.
The oven will start automatically a few seconds later using these settings.
:
6
The final core temperature can be altered between 40 °C and 99 °C.
32
Roasting
Once the final core temperature has been reached
The final core temperature has been reached when the temperature values to the left and right of the colon are identical, (e.g. 65 °C). The roast will now be cooked to the degree required.
The oven heating switches off automatically. The temperature values go out and the word ‘Auto’ flashes in the temperature display.
However, do not turn the oven function selector ‘0’ immediately, as the roast should be left to stand for a further 10 minutes in the warm oven. This way the roast will retain more juices when it is carved. The roast can be taken out of the oven at the end of this standing time and the oven function selector turned to ‘0’.
Audible tones sound at the end of the different stages in the process:
– a tone lasting approx. 1 minute
sounds when the final core temperature has been reached and at the end of the standing time.
– a shorter tone, repeated at minute
intervals, sounds during the standing and the keeping warm stages.
These tones can be switched off at any time by pulling the oven function selector out slightly. Switching off the tone which lasts for approximately 1 minute also switches off the shorter tone which sounds during the standing and keeping warm stages.
Note: during standing time the temperature of a thick joint can rise by about 3 °C and by as much as 6 °C for thinner joints. When setting the final food temperature you may wish to select a slightly lower temperature to compensate.
If you do not want to remove the roast after this standing time, it can be kept warm in the oven for a further 50 minutes approx. In this case do not turn the oven function selector to ‘0’.
33
Roasting
Delaying the start time
When the roast probe is being used the start time can be delayed.
The oven will then switch on and off automatically. To do this the length and end of cooking time have to be set.
However the pre-set length of cooking time only acts as a guide. If the final core temperature is reached within a shorter time the oven will switch off automatically before the end of the preset cooking time.
To delay the start time:
Insert the roast probe into the joint. Select an oven function and if required, adjust the final core temperature and/or the pre-set recommended oven temperature as described on the previous pages.
Press the g button. Enter the length of cooking time, e.g.
3 hours, using the

It is advisable to add about 1 hour on to the cooking time to ensure that there is ample time for the roast to reach the final core temperature. This also removes the danger of the oven switching off automatically before the final core temperature has been reached should the roast take slightly longer to cook than anticipated.
34
Shortly after you have finished entering the time, the clock / timer display will switch back to show the current time of day. The ‘A’ remains in the display but the 4 symbol goes out.
The oven calculates the start of cooking time electronically (9.40 in this example = 12.40 less 3 hours cooking time). As soon as this time (9.40) is displayed on the clock / timer, the oven will switch on automatically and the 4 symbol will re-appear in the clock / timer display.

Defrosting
The Defrost function is particularly suitable for defrosting delicate frozen foods such as breads, fruit, fish, and cream gateaux. With the Defrost runs but the oven heating systems are all switched off. It is not possible to select a temperature. With the constant movement of air in the oven, defrosting is much faster than in still air.
Leaving the oven door open as far as possible whilst defrosting ensures a constant supply of fresh air at room temperature and enables the cooled air to be expelled.

Defrosting
Practical tips
– Where possible remove the packa-
ging and put the food to be defrosted on a baking tray or into a suitable dish.
– All meat and poultry should be fully
defrosted before cooking. When defrosting meat or poultry place the grill pan / oven tray underneath the rack to catch the defrosted liquid, so that the meat is not lying in this liquid.
It is particularly important to observe food hygiene rules when defrosting poultry. Do not use the liquid from the defrosted poultry. Pour it away, wash the pan, the sink and your hands.
– Fish does not need to be fully de-
frosted before cooking. Defrost so that the surface is sufficiently soft to take herbs and seasoning.
– Do not refreeze food once it has
thawed.
– For defrosting frozen ready made
meals follow the manufacturers instructions on the packaging.
The time needed for defrosting depends on the type and weight of the food, and at what temperature it was frozen.

Never use cleaners containing alkalines / soda, acids or chlorides or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring agents, e.g. hard brushes, scouring pads or cloths, steel wool. These attack the surfaces and cause damage.
Do not leave accessories in the oven when the oven is being used.
Cleaning and care
Appliance front
The appliance front and controls should be cleaned using a mild solution of hot water with a little washing up liquid, applied with a damp cloth. Wipe dry using a soft cloth.
Use a non-abrasive proprietary cleaning agent for stainless steel. Apply with an even pressure following the direction of the “grain”. Wipe over with a damp cloth and rub dry with a soft cloth.

Removable oven door
It is much easier to clean the oven interior if you remove the oven door first.
To remove the oven door:
Open the door fully. Flip up the two release levers in front
of the hinges.
Now using both hands lift the door up evenly and out of the hinges.
To put the oven door back on:
Do the above in the reverse order:
Set the door on the hinges. Open the door fully.
Gradually shut the door, until the raised levers touch the oven frame.
50
Flip the two release levers in front of the hinges down into their original resting position.
Close the door.
The oven door is heavy. It should be gripped firmly at the sides when being removed or refitted.
Switching on the oven interior lighting
The oven lighting switches on automatically when the door is opened and stays on for some time before switching off. If you want the oven light on for longer for cleaning the oven, you can use the door contact to switch the lighting on again as often as necessary.
Press door contact (see arrow) inwards to switch the lighting on.

The oven floor and has been treated with a new type of enamelling called P
ERFECTCLEAN” which has very good
anti-stick properties and is much easier to keep clean than conventional oven enamel.
The roof, rear and side walls have special self-cleaning catalytic liners which are removable.
Clean the P each use. If this is not done cleaning may become difficult and in extreme cases impossible and the anti-stick effect will be reduced.
Please note that spilt fruit juices may cause lasting discolouration of the surfaces.
Clean the surfaces as described in the sections on ‘P ing

The surfaces of these accessories have also been treated with P CLEAN enamel. They should be cleaned after each use to preserve the very good anti-stick properties. Clean as described in the section on ‘P CLEAN.
Food can be taken of it more easily and soiling from baking and roasting is easier to remove. However, please note that dull patches may appear in the oven tray after roasting or grilling. These cannot be removed.
The side runners can be removed to make cleaning the oven easier.

PerfectClean
Before using for the first time remove any stickers from PerfectClean surfaces.
The enamelled surfaces of the oven interior, baking tray, grill pan / oven tray, rack and side supports have been treated with a new type of enamelling called "PerfectClean".
This surface has very good anti-stick properties which is much easier to keep clean than conventional oven enamel.
Food can be taken off it more easily and soiling from baking and roasting is easier to remove.
The following notes on cleaning and care should ensure that the anti-stick and easy clean properties of PerfectClean last for many years.
PerfectClean surfaces can be treated as you would treat glass. If you are unsure whether a particular cleaning product is suitable for PerfectClean consider whether you could clean a window pane with the product without damaging it.
Normal soiling
Clean as soon as possible after each use with a dishcloth, soft sponge or a soft nylon brush, and a solution of hot water and a little washing up liquid.
Stubborn soiling
Stubborn soiling e.g. from roasting may need to be soaked first with a damp sponge to loosen it and if necessary a scraper suitable for glass surfaces can be used to remove it.
After cleaning rinse thoroughly with clean water. The water must run off the surface easily. Any residual cleaning agents will hinder this effect.
Food can be sliced or cut up on the PerfectClean surface in the same way as on a baking tray with conventional enamel.
Allow the oven and any accessories to cool down before cleaning. Danger of burning!
53
Cleaning and care
Using oven sprays on very stubborn soiling
Some oven cleaners contain strong alkalines and / or abrasive materials. Because the enamel is designed to be easily cleaned the use of these cleaners is not recommended. However if you still cannot get the surface clean, an oven cleaner can be used. Do not attempt to use on a hot oven or accessories. Allow the PerfectClean surfaces to cool down to room temperature before applying oven sprays!
Remove the catalytic back panel, side panels and roof panel before using oven sprays. The chemicals used in oven sprays will damage catalytic enamel rendering it ineffective.
Apply a spray oven cleaner to the soiled areas. Leave to take effect for a
couple of minutes only!
If necessary use a soft sponge, soft nylon brush or a scraper suitable for glass surfaces to loosen the soiling.
Important
For optimum performance of the PerfectClean enamel it is important to clean the oven and accessories after each use.
The surfaces will become harder to clean and the anti-stick properties will deteriorate if soiling is not removed after each use and allowed to build-up. In extreme cases cleaning may even become impossible.
The following cause lasting damage to the surface structure and reduce the anti-stick effect and must not be used on PerfectClean surfaces:
abrasive cleaning agents stainless steel cleaners cleaning agents for ceramic hobs wire wool or metal scourers pot scourers oven cleaning pads sponges and cloths which have
previously been used with abrasive cleaning agents. – oven spray must not be used in a hot oven or left on for too long. – items coated with PerfectClean enamelling must not be cleaned in a dishwasher.
Repeat the process if necessary. After cleaning rinse thoroughly with
clean water and then dry thoroughly.
54
Note
Soiling such as spilt juices and cake mixtures are best removed whilst the oven or tray is still warm. Exercise caution, make sure the oven is not hot danger of burning!
Spilt fruit juices may cause lasting discolouration of the surfaces and roasting can cause matt areas to appear. Clean these following the instructions given above and do not try and use force to remove them! This discolouration is permanent but will not affect the efficiency of the enamel.

Cleaning and care
Catalytic roof liner, back and side panels
The roof, rear and side walls have special catalytic liners.
During fan operated cooking circulating air in the oven deposits oil and fat splashes predominantly on the back panel of the oven. These splashes are burnt off when the temperature of the oven reaches over 200°C during baking or roasting. The higher the temperature the more effective the process.
The oven and accessories should be cleaned after each use. Otherwise further baking and roasting will cause the deposits to bake on even harder and cleaning may become difficult and in extreme cases impossible.
Cleaning by hand
Allow the oven to cool down before cleaning. Danger of burning!
Catalytic enamelled panels should be cleaned using a solution of hot water with a little washing up liquid applied with a soft nylon brush.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, hard brushes, scouring pads or cloths, steel wool, knives or other abrasive materials and do not use oven spray on catalytic enamel as the chemicals used in oven sprays will damage catalytic enamel rendering it ineffective. If using oven sprays on PerfectClean oven surfaces the catalytic back panel, side panels and roof panel must first be removed from the oven.
56
Cleaning and care
Catalytic cleaning process
Before cleaning the catalytic panels using high temperatures, make sure that all PerfectClean surfaces have been cleaned as previously described. Otherwise, the high temperatures can cause deposits to become baked on to the PerfectClean surfaces and become impossible to remove.
If, after manual cleaning, the oven is still heavily soiled, heating it to a high temperature will help remove further soiling caused by oil and grease splashes from the catalytic surfaces.
Note that deposits of spices, syrups and similar substances are not removed by this process. These should be removed while fresh by hand with a mild solution of hot water and washing up liquid applied with a soft brush.
To clean at high temperatures:
Turn the oven selector to Fan heat D.
Turn the temperature selector to the highest setting.
Run the oven for approx. 1 hour. The length of time will depend on the level of soiling.
It is a good idea to set the finish time for the process using the timer. This way you will not forget to switch the oven off at the end.
Any remaining soiling will gradually disappear with each subsequent use of the oven at high temperatures.
Should the catalytic enamelling on the back panel, side panels or the roof liner become ineffective through improper use or heavy soiling, a replacement can be obtained from your dealer or the Spare Parts dept.
57
Cleaning and care
To replace the catalytic roof liner:
To take out the roof liner, first remove the two fixing screws. Pull the grill element and the roof liner down towards the front.
You can now pull the roof liner out. Insert the new roof liner and screw in firmly.
To replace the catalytic back panel:
Remove the roasting filter if present (see Roasting filter) and the telescopic shelf runners (see “Tele- scopic shelf runners”).
Insert a new panel and screw in firmly. Re-fit the telescopic shelf runners and if required, the roasting filter.
Do not operate the oven without the catalytic back panel fitted. This could cause considerable injury.
To replace the catalytic side panels:
First remove the the side runners as described in the section To remove the side runners’.
Unscrew the fixing with a coin and pull the the panel out.
Use a suitable screwdriver to loosen the screws in the back panel and remove the panel.
58
Insert the new side panel, screw in firmly and follw the above procedure in reverse.
Cleaning and care
Roasting filter
The roasting filter should be cleaned after each use.
It is removed by simply pulling it forwards and out.
It can be cleaned in a dishwasher or by hand.
Dry thoroughly before replacing it.
Roast probe
Wipe the roast probe (core temperature probe) with a damp cloth after each use. Do not wash in the dishwasher or soak in water.
Changing the oven lamp
The oven lamp is easily replaced (25 W, 230-240 V, 300 °C, Socket: E 14):
Disconnect the appliance from the power supply. See approprate section in Warning and Safety at the beginning of this booklet.
Carefully remove the glass cover, as shown in the illustration, using a wide flat object e.g. a spatula, if necessary. Take care to use even pressure, as otherwise the glass could break and there would be danger of being injured.
Unscrew the bulb and replace it with a new one.
Replace the glass cover and carefully but firmly press it into position using the palm of your hand.

Installation, maintenance and repairs to the electrical components of this appliance should only be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in accordance with national and local safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for unauthorised work.
Some minor problems however can be dealt with as follows:
What to do if ...
... the fan can still be heard after the oven has been switched off
The oven is fitted with a cooling system which prevents the oven over-heating during use causing possible damage to adjacent kitchen furniture. The cooling fan continues to run after the oven has been switched off until the oven has cooled down to approx. 70 °C. The temperature will fall faster with the door open.
If none of the above is the case, then disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply for approx. 1 minute. To do this:
switch off at the isolator orwithdraw the mains fuse.
Reconnect the appliance to the electricity supply and if the oven still does not heat up contact a qualified electrician or the Service Department.
... cakes or biscuits are not cooked properly
Check whether,
the correct temperature was set.the roasting filter was left in front of
the fan when baking with Fan heat. In this case baking takes longer.
– there were any alterations to the
recipe. For example, a moister mix or more eggs can lengthen baking time.
... the oven does not heat up after being switched on
Check whether,
the oven clock has been set.the timer has been programmed.the mains fuse has blown.
