bizhub i-Option user reference guide

Introduction

The Konica Minolta i-Option LK-101 and LK-101 v2 enables the use of the built-in MFP
webbrowser on select bizhub MFP models. With this integrated web browser, a user
of the MFP can browse to a Microsoft® Offi ce SharePoint® Server 2007 (hereafter
SharePoint) in their local environment, and scan documents in a variety of formats
supported by the MFP directly into the SharePoint server using an interface that is the
same as they would experience at their PC. The user can also download PDF fi les
andview or print them at the MFP.
To enable this functionality, it is necessary to make modifi cations to the SharePoint
server in order for SharePoint to generate web pages compatible with the MFP browser.
Additionally, not all SharePoint functionality will work with the MFP browser.
This guide will assist a SharePoint administrator with understanding and making
thenecessary changes to their SharePoint server in order for users to use this
functionality with the MFP browser.

The following sections outline what changes need to be made to the SharePoint server
inorder to work with the MFP browser. These steps should be repeated for every site
that will be used with the MFP browser.

ENABLING BASIC AUTHENTICATION

Due to limitations of the MFP browser, the default authentication method for
SharePoint (NTLM) is not supported. In order to use SharePoint with the MFP,
Basic Authentication must be enabled for the SharePoint site. Please note that,
while the passwords areencoded, this may not be considered the most secure
means of transmitting passwords from the MFP browser to the SharePoint server.
Please consider setting up the SharePoint site to use SSL with the MFP browser,
using a certifi cate provided byareputable certifi cate authority such asVeriSign™.
1. Open SharePoint’s Central Administration and sign on as the administrator.
2. Once signed in, you will see an Application Management link on the top bar.
Click on this link to bring you to the Application Management screen, which
will allow you to alter settings for your SharePoint site (s).
3. Once on the Application Management screen, you will see various links to
settings for the SharePoint site and functionality to create new sites. In the
Application Security group of this screen, click on Authentication providers.

4. After clicking on the Authentication providers link, you will be brought
toascreen which lists all of the authentication providers defi ned for your site.
Atthis point, please make sure that the site you are going to be accessing
viathe MFP browser is selected in the Web Application drop down on the top
right. Ifthis is correct, then click on the link to edit the Default zone.
5. Finally, you will be brought to the Edit Authentication screen. On this screen,
you will see a section entitled “IIS Authentication Settings”. In this section, turn
on Basic Authentication. Once this is turned on, click the save button below.
