This document is described about the characteristics of BUILT-IN SPINDLE MOTOR BiI-B series and the
modified points from the former models.

Characteristics
BUILT-IN SPINDLE MOTOR BiI-B series has three new characteristics. Details are described below.
① Addition of S6 rating realized by FANUC spindle control software.
② Addition of water cooling models for enhancing continuous rated output.
③ Standardization of motor hardware specificati on (plural name plates)
Addition of S6 rating realized by FANUC spindle control software.
Formerly, FANUC only defined S3 rating, but from this model S6 rating is defined as same as the S3 rating.
European manufacturers usually define S6 rating, so it is easier to compare the specifications from FANUC.
For the differences between S6 and S3, please refer below.

Output that can be used for the indicated cycle ret ention percentage (%) in a single cycle.
Example) If the S3 25% rated output is 11 kW, the output of 11 kW can be used for 2 minutes and 30
seconds in a 10-minute cycle, and the output st ops for the remaining time of 7 minutes and 30
seconds.

The rated output is guaranteed at the rated power voltage (amplifier input: 200 or 400 VAC, 50/60Hz). If the
input power voltage fluctuates, the rated output may not be achieved even within the permissible range.

rotation.

With the FANUC built-in spindle motor BiI-B series, the output specification with water cooling is
corresponded. About the output specification with water cooling, please inquire FANUC sales department.

Standardization of motor hardware specification (plural name plates)
For the FANUC built-in spindle mot or BiI-B series, the following two types of nameplates are provided:
Basic nameplate attached on the main motor unit and specification nameplate. The basic nameplate on the
main motor unit indicates basic information, stator number, and rotor number. The specification nameplate
indicates all short-time ratings incl uding continuous ratings that are available with the motor. When you
order the FANUC built-in spindle motor BiI-B series, you must order a specification nameplate according to
your desired output characteristics together. The machine tool builder is to attach the specification
nameplate on the power magnetics cabinet of the machi ne tool in which the relevant motor is installed.
Standardization of motor hardware reduces the specif i cations.
Introduction of specification name plat e will realize more flexible changes of the output speci fications.
