and slide the cover down to remove it.
2. Insert the battery so that the metal
contacts on the battery align with the
metal contacts on your BlackBerry®
device, and press down to secure the
battery. (If the battery has sufficient
charge, your device should turn on
automatically.)
3. Replace the battery cover and slide up
until it clicks into place.
Charge the Battery
1. Insert the larger end of the USB cable
into the charging head.
2. Connect the smaller end of the USB
cable to the micro-USB port on the left
side of your BlackBerry device.
3. Plug the charging head into a power
outlet.
Activate Your Device
Activate Your Device
• If you bought your device at a Sprint Store,
it is probably activated and ready to use.
• If you received your device in the mail, and
it is a new Sprint account or a new phone
number, it is designed to activate
automatically when you first turn it on.
• If you received your device in the mail and
you are activating a new phone for an
existing number on your account, go to
sprint.com/activate and follow the
instructions.
When you have finished, make a phone
call to confirm your activation. If your
device is still not activated or you do not
have access to the Internet, contact Sprint
Customer Service at 1-888-211-4727 for
assistance.

Complete the Setup Application
The setup application is designed to help
you learn about navigation and typing,
change options to personalize your
BlackBerry device, set up wireless and
Bluetooth® connections, and set up one or
more supported email addresses.
• To complete the setup application, follow
the prompts to set up your device. Slide
your finger on the trackpad to highlight
options and click (press) the trackpad to
continue.
To access the setup application at any
time, click All>Setup.
Make a Phone Call
• From the Home screen or in the Phone
application, type a phone number and
press Send .
• To end a call, close the phone or
press End/Power .
Answer a Phone Call
• To answer a call, open the phone or
press .
• To ignore an incoming call and send it
directly to voicemail, press .
Voicemail
Set Up Voicemail
You should set up your voicemail and
personal greeting as soon as your device
is activated. Always use a password to
protect against unauthorized access.
1. Press and then press and
hold .
2. Follow the system prompts to create your
password and record your name and
greeting.
Retrieve Your Voicemail
From your BlackBerry device:
1. Press and then press and
hold .
2. Enter your password.
From any other phone:
1. Dial your wireless phone number.
2. When your voicemail answers, press *.
3. Enter your password.

Using the Home Screen
Home Screen: All Applications
Use the trackpad to access all your
device’s applications from the Home
screen’s All page.
For example, to access the Calendar:
1. Slide your finger down the trackpad to
highlight All, and then press the
trackpad (click All).
2. Highlight Calendar and press the
trackpad (click Calendar).
• To access additional menu options for
any feature press and then select
a option, such as New Task.
The instructions above become:
Click All > Calendar > > New Task.
Home Screen: Features
The Home screen also gives you direct
access to additional features.
• Click the top information bar to access
your connection options such as network,
Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
• Click a notification to display a message
directly.
• Click the search icon to launch a Google®
search, a BlackBerry App World™ search,
or a Web search.
• Click an application grouping (such as All
or Media) to access applications.
Contacts
Text Messages
Add a Contact
1. Click All > Contacts >
New Contact.
2. Type the contact information and then press > Save.
Retrieve a Phone Number
1. Click All > Contacts .
2. Slide your finger up or down the
trackpad to scroll through contacts, or
enter the first few letters of a name.
3. To display a contact, highlight a name
and click the trackpad. To call a contact,
highlight a name and press . If the
contact has more than one number, click
the number you want to call.
Send a Text Message
1. Click All > Text Messages > >
Compose Text Message.
2. Enter a wireless phone number or email
address or begin entering a contact
name and click the contact.
3. Type a message.
• To attach a picture, video, or other
type of file, press > Attach, and
then select a file type and file.
4. Press Enter or press > Send.
Email
Set Up Email
1. Click All > Setup > Email Accounts >
Internet Mail Account.
• If prompted, read the BlackBerry
Prosumer Agreement. If you agree with
the terms, click I Accept to continue.
2. Select an account type, enter your email
address and password, and then click
Continue. The BlackBerry® Internet
Service will set up your account.

Send an Email Message
1. Click All > Messages > >
Compose Email.
2. Type an email address or a contact
name.
3. Type a subject and a message and then
press > Send.
• To attach a picture, video, or other
type of file, before clicking Send,
press > Attach, and then select
a file.
Web
Find sports scores, news, and weather.
Shop online. Tabbed browsing lets
you browse the Web just the way you
want to.
Go Online
1. Click All > Browser .
2. Enter a Web address and press .
• To use tabbed browsing to switch
between multiple websites, click in
the upper-right corner, click +, and enter
another Web address.
• To switch between tabs, click and
click a tab.
BlackBerry App World
Personalize your phone with a huge
selection of apps, games, ringers,
and screensavers.
Browse and Download
1. Click All > BlackBerry App World .
• The first time you visit BlackBerry App
World, a Terms of Service window will
appear. If you agree with the terms,
click Accept to continue.
2. Browse through the featured items
or click an option at the bottom
(Categories, Top 25, Search, or
My World).
4. Click an item to see its details and
reviews.
5. Click Download for free applications or
click Purchase and confirm your
payment method for paid applications.
Sprint TV, Movies & Radio
Live TV and video on demand.
Complete episodes and clips of your
favorite primetime shows and movies.
Over 50 channels of news,
entertainment, weather, sports, and
streaming music.

Watch
1. Click All > Media > Sprint TV . (The
first time, follow the prompts to download
the application.)
2. Click TV in the left panel and then scroll
up or down to select a TV option.
• To listen to music, click Radio and
select an option.
3. Click an item to play it. If the selected
channel requires a subscription, click
Subscribe to purchase access or
Preview to see a preview of the channel.
GPS Navigation
Sprint Navigation lets you see and hear
turn-by-turn directions to a known address,
or find nearby restaurants, stores, banks, or
gas stations. Get information about traffic
and alternate routes
Navigate
1. Click All > Sprint Navigation . (The first
time, follow the prompts to download and
set up the application.)
2. Follow the onscreen instructions to
access, launch, and use the application.
Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and More
Stay as connected and in-the-know as
you want to on the Now Network.
Get It
1. Click All > Facebook, Twitter, MySpace,
or whatever application you want. Some
apps, such as Sprint Football Live, are
in the Media folder.
2. Follow the prompts to set up the
application on your device.
• If prompted, read the BlackBerry or
application usage agreements. If you
agree with the terms, click I Accept to
accept any BlackBerry or application
usage agreements.
Use It
1. Click All or Media and click the
application you want to run.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions to
update your Facebook status, Tweet
about what just happened, check out the
latest football standings, or just stay
connected.
