What goes in your washer?

Before washing, you can do a great deal to ensure better results. Divide your

garments according to fabric and colour. Read the labels, follow their guidelines.

Before washing.

Divide your washing according to

the type of fabric and colour

fastness.

Empty all pockets (coins, paper,

money and small obejects) and

ensure all loose buttons are

repaired or removed prior to

loading.

How to eliminate the most common stains

Ink and biro Dab with a wad of cotton soaked in methyl alcohol or alcohol at 90°.

Tar Dab with fresh butter, rub in turpentine then wash immediately.

Wax Scrape away, then run a hot iron between two sheets of absorbent paper. Then rub in cotton with

turpentine or methyl alcohol.

Chewing gum Rub in nail polish remover and wipe with a clean rag.

Mold Cotton and white linen should be placed in a solution of 5 parts water, one bleach and a spoon of vinegar,

then washed immediately. For other white fabrics, use hydrogen peroxide at 10 volumes and wash immediately.

Lipstick Dab with ether on wool or cotton. Use tricloroetilene for silk.

Nail polish Place a sheet of absorbent paper on the side of the stain, wet it with nail polish remover, shifting the

garment as the sheet gradually changes colour.

Grass Dab with a wad of cotton soaked in methyl alcohol.

Starting Margherita

Starting Margherita in the right

way is important for the quality

of your wash, to help prevent

future problems and enhance life

expectancy of your appliance.

Once you have loaded your

washing machine and added the

detergent together with any

fabric conditioner, always check

that:

1. The door is closed correctly.

2. The plug is secured in the

socket.

3. The water supply is turned on.

Turn the appliance on

Press button B (position I).

Choose the desired programme

The programme is selected

according to the type of garments

that need to be washed. To

choose a programme, refer to the

table on page 4. Turn knob A

until the selected programme

coincides with the pointer

situated on the upper part of glass

G, set all the options available

(flashing) as indicated on pages

3 and 4 (reference

), then press

button C (Start/Reset).

If you want to interrupt the

programme in progress, press

button C for at least 3 seconds.

After installing your new washing machine, start a

wash cycle by setting programme "1" at 90 degrees.

For more delicate

garments:

protect underwear,

tights and stockings

and delicate items by

placing them in a

canvas pouch.

Dividing your

garments according to

fabric and colour, is

very important for

good results.

At the end of the wash cycle...

Wait for symbol

to come off

and the word End to appear.

Then turn Margherita off by

pressing on-off button B (O

position). You can now open the

washing machine door safely.

After having removed the freshly

cleaned washing, leave the door

open to allow air circulation

inside the drum.

Always disconnect electricity at

the socket and turn off the water

supply.

Remember that, in the event

of a power failure, or should

the washing machine switch

itself off, the programme

chosen will remain in its

memory.

The labels say it all.

Always look at the labels: they

tell you everything about your

garment and how to wash it in

the best possible way.

The table on page 5 shows all

meanings behind these symbols.

Their recommendations are

important to achieve better

wash results

Big and small happily

together.

This washing machine has a special

electronic control device for even

distribution: before the spin cycle

starts, this device allows the

garments to positions themselves,

to minimise noise and vibrations

during the spin cycle.

To use this, press the Select

button until the On sign comes on.

During a wash cycle, the

selectionof this option is indicated

by symbol

coming on.

This option is available on

programmes 2-3-5-6-7-8-10 and

Rinse cycles.

Note: It must not be used with the

Easy iron option.

Easy iron

This function allows your

washing to come out of the

machine without creases,

making it much easier to iron.

The appliance optimises the

washing conditions according to

the type of fabrics that are being

washed.

It is enabled with programmes

3-5-6-7-8-11 and Rinse cycles.

To enable it, press the Select

button until the On sign comes on.

In programmes 6-7-8-11 and

Light Rinse cycles, the wash

cycle is interrupted and the

washing is left to soak in water

before the appliance is drained.

To complete the cycle, press the

Select button.

During a wash cycle, the enabling

of this option is indicated by

symbol

coming on.

Note: It must not be used with

the Stain removal option.

Rinse level

This increases the efficiency of

the rinse. We recommend that you

use it when dealing with a full

load and a great amount of

detergent.

There are three levels; press the

Select button to select them.

Low

Medium

High

This option is available on

programmes 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 and

Rinse cycles.

Note: Function is disabled.

Spin variation

The display indicates the maximum

speed relating to the programme

set, which can be reduced by

pressing the Select button right

down to its total exclusion (Off).

During a wash cycle, the selection

of the spin cycle exclusion is

indicated by symbol

coming

on.

This option is available on all

wash programmes except for

number 11 and Drain.

Wash intensity

This allows you to modify the

characteristics of the selected wash

programme, according to how

soiled the washing is. There are

three levels; press the select button

to Select them.

Low

Medium

High

This option is available on

programmes 1-2-3-5-6-7-8.

Delay timer

This allows you to delay the start

of the wash cycle by a minimum

of 1 to a maximum of 24 hours

by pressing the Select button.

The enabling of the delayed start

is indicated by the symbol

coming on and staying on until

the wash cycle begins.

This option is not available on the

Drain and Spin cycle

programmes.

Stain removal

(see page 7)

Thanks to this command, the

washing machine will carry out a

more intensive wash that optimises

the effectiveness of the liquid

additives, thus allowing more

resistant stains to be removed.

Programme selector knob

To select a programme, you

should turn the knob so that the

symbol/number of the desired

programme is in line with the

pointer on the glass G.

On-off

When button B is pressed, the

washing machine is switched on,

when it is not the machine is

switched off.

Turning the appliance off does

not cancel the selected

programme.

When the appliance is switched

on, all the symbols on the display

light up for at least 8 seconds,

after which only the ones that

can be selected will flash.

Start /Reset

This button allows you to start

the selected wash programme or

to interrupt it.

If you press it briefly, the button

functions as Start, if you press

it for at least 3 seconds, then it

functions as Reset.

After the Start of the appliance,

moving the programme selector

knob will have no effect

whatsoever.

Detergent dispenser

It is divided into three

compartments:

1. Detergent for pre-wash;

2. Detergent for the main cycle

wash;

3. Fabric conditioner.

The washing machine is

equipped with an extra

compartment 4 (provided as an

accessory) for the bleach, to be

inserted in compartment 1.

Programme key

This contains the descriptions of

the wash programmes and the

various functions connected to

the buttons. Pull it outwards to

open it.

Display

All the options available are

displayed on the right-hand side.

Use the Mode button to select

the desired option, and the rela-

tive symbol will begin flashing.

On the left-hand side, the value

or the status (On-Off) of the

selected option is displayed, and

you can modify it using the

Select button.

To access the subsequent option,

press the Mode button,

otherwise press button C (Start/

Reset) to start the wash cycle.

All the options available are

listed below.

Only options relevant to the

selected programme will be

displayed.

Temperature

The display indicates the

maximum temperature relating

to the programme set, which can

be reduced by pressing the

Select button right down to cold

wash (Off).

This option is available on all

Class A at 40°C Margherita has a special programme to allow you to obtain optimum results even at low temperatures.

By setting programme 4 at a temperature of 40° C, the results you will obtain will be the same as you would normally obtain at 60°C

thanks to the washing machines action and the length of the wash cycle.

Daily wash Margherita has a programme available for the washing of lightly soiled garments in a short amount of time.

By setting programme 9 at a temperature of 30°C, you can wash different types of fabrics together (except for wool and silk), with a

maximum load of 3 kg. This programmes allows you to save on both time and energy as it only lasts around 30 minutes.

WE RECOMMEND THE USE LIQUID DETERGENT.

Special programmes

The data found in the table is purely indicative, and can vary according to the quantity and type of washing, the water system

temperature and the room temperature.

Important: to cancel the wash programme you have just set, press button C for at least 3 seconds (Start/Reset).

Door lock

Symbol on indicates that the

washing machine door is locked

to prevent it from being opened

accidentally. To avoid any

All over Europe, garment labels

contain messages expressed in

small yet important symbols.

Understanding them is very

important if you want to get

better results and treat your

garments the way they deserve to

be treated.

These symbols are divided in five

different categories and shapes:

washing

, bleaching ,

ironing

, dry cleaning and

drying

.

Consult and learn the symbols in this table: they will help you

obtain a better wash, treat your clothes properly, and get a

better performance out of your Ariston Margherita.

Useful tips

Turn shirts inside out to get better results

and make them last longer.

Always empty pockets of their contents.

Look at the label: it will always give you

useful advice.

When loading your washing, try to have a

mixture of large to small items.

Useful tips

Never use your washing

machine to wash... torn, fraying

or non-hemmed linen. If it is

absolutely neccessary, place it in

a bag for protection. Do not wash

coloured linen with whites.

Watch the weight!

For best results, do not exceed

the weight limits stated below

(figures show weight of dry

garments):

- Resistant fabrics:

6 kg maximum

- Synthetic fabrics:

2.5 kg maximum

- Delicate fabrics:

2 kg maximum

- Pure new wool:

1 kg maximum

How to wash almost anything

Curtains.

Curtains tend to crease a great

deal. A useful tip to reduce

creasing: fold the curtains and

place them in a pillow case or

mesh bag. Do not load anything

else inside the appliance, this will

ensure that the overall weight

does not exceed the half load.

Remember to use the specific

programme 11 which automa-

tically excludes the spin cycle.

Trainers.

Once you have removed mud and

dirt from trainers, you can even

wash them with jeans or any

other tough garments. Do not

wash trainers with whites.

Quilted coats and anorak.

You can wash quilted coats and

wind-cheaters, too, if they are

padded with goose or duck

down. Do not load more than

2-3 kg and never load 6 kg. Repeat

rinse once or twice using the

gentle spin.

How much does it weigh?

1 sheet 400-500 gr.

1 pillow case 150-200 gr.

1 tablecloth 400-500 gr.

1 bathrobe 900-1,200 gr.

1 towel 150-250 gr.

Coloured T-shirts, printed

ones and shirts last longer if

turned inside out before washing.

Printed T-shirts and sweatshirts

should always be ironed inside

out.

Dungaree alert.

Very popular salopette type

overalls have straps with hooks that

can damage the drum of your

washing machine or other garments

during the wash. To minimise the

risk, place hooks in the pocket and

fasten with safety pins.

Holidays: unplug the

appliance.

It is recommended that you

should unplug the machine from

the socket and turn off the water

supply. Leave the door ajar to

allow air circulation to the draw

and the door gasket area. This

will prevent unpleasant odours.

For best results, we

recommend you use a

specific detergent, taking

care not to wash more

than 1,5 kg of laundry.

WOOL CYCLE

Cashmere Gold: As gentle as a hand wash

The first Washer to have "The Woolmark Company" recognition.

The Cashmere Gold wash

programme has been studied

for machine washing even the

most delicate and valuable

wool and Cashmere

garments.

The Merloni Elettrodomesti-

ci wool wash cycle has been

tested and approved by The

Woolmark Company for

washing Woolmark garments

labelled as hand wash. This

is the first gentle action hand

wash cycle approved by The

Woolmark Company.

This has been made possible

thanks to the speed of the

drum at 90 rpm, even during

the rinse cycle, thus

preventing the fibres from

rubbing.

Always use programme 10 with

garments bearing the hand wash

symbol: the washbasin and

hand.

To take care of your woollen

items, we recommend you use

special detergents.

You must follow the dosage

recommendations provided by

the manufacturers when adding

detergent or fabric conditioner.

Doses will vary according to the

wash load, the water hardness and

how soiled the washing is.

Experience will help you select

the right dosage almost

automatically: it will become

your secret.

Before adding detergent for pre-

washing in compartment 1, make

sure that the extra compartment

for bleach 4 has not been inserted.

Ensure no overfilling when adding

fabric conditioner in compart-

ment 3.

The washing machine automa-

tically adds the softener to the

wash in each programme.

Liquid detergent is poured into

compartment 2 just a few

seconds before starting the wash

cycle.

In compartment 1:

Detergent for pre-washing (powder)

In compartment 2:

Detergent for washing

(powder or liquid)

In compartment 3:

Additives (softeners, perfumes, etc.)

In compartment 4:

Bleach and delicate bleach.

Useful tips about the detergent dispenser

Its important for a good wash

The first secret is the easiest: the detergent

dispenser is opened by rotating it outwards.

Remember that liquid detergent

is only designed for wash cycles

of up to 60 degrees on non pre-

wash items.

Special containers are sold with

liquid or powder detergents for

placing inside the washing

machine drum, these are

positioned according to the

instructions found in the

detergent box

Never use hand wash detergent,

because it may form too much

foam, which could damage the

washing machine.

Detergents that are specifically

formulated for both hand and

machine wash are an exception.

One last secret: when washing

with cold water, always reduce

the amount of detergent you use:

it dissolves less easily in cold

water than in hot water, so part

of it would be wasted.

MAXIMISE THE LOAD SIZE

Achieve the best use of energy, water, detergent and time by using the

recommended maximum load size.

SAVE up to 50% energy by washing a full load instead of 2 half loads.

DO YOU NEED TO PRE-WASH?

For heavily soiled laundry only!

SAVE detergent, time, water and between 5 to 15% energy consumption by

NOT selecting Prewash for slight to normally soiled laundry.

IS A HOT WASH REQUIRED?

Pretreat stains with stain remover or soak dried in stains in water before

washing to reduce the necessity of a hot wash programme.

SAVE up to 50% energy by using a 60°C wash programme.

BEFORE USING A DRYING PROGRAMME ...

SAVE energy and time by selecting a high spin speed to reduce the water

content in laundry before using a drying programme.

Bleach cycle

If bleaching is necessary, the ex-

tra case 4 (provided) must be

inserted into compartment 1 of

the detergent dispenser.

When pouring in the bleach, be

careful not to exceed the "max"

level indicated on the central

pivot (see illustration).

The use of the additional bleach

container excludes the

possibility of using the pre-wash

cycle. Traditional bleach can

only be used on sturdy white

fabrics, whereas delicate

bleach can be used for

coloured fabrics, synthetics

and for wool.

You cannot bleach with the 11

Silk programme and with the

special programmes (see page 4).

Should you wish to bleach

separately, pour the bleach into

extra compartment 4, set the

rinse programme for

cottons fabrics or the light

rinse programme for

synthetics.

The rinse level should be set to

Medium or High (see page 3).

When bleaching during a

normal wash cycle, pour in the

detergent and additives into the

special compartments (see table

on page 4), set the desired

programme and select the stain

removal option.

The detergent dispenser can be

removed and cleaned: just lift it up

and pull it outwards ,as indicated in

the figure. Then leave it under running

water for a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

In most cases, when your washing machine fails to work, the problems

arising can be easily solved without having to call for a technician. Before

calling for assistance, always check these points.

The washing machine

fails to start.

Is the plug correctly

inserted into the socket? It

could have been moved whilst

cleaning.

Is there electricity in the

house?

A circuit breaker may have

switched off as a result of too

many electrical appliances

working at the same time. Or

maybe due to a general failure

in your entire area.

Is the washing machine door

closed properly?

For safety reasons, the

washing machine cannot work

if the door is open or not shut

properly.

Is the On/Off button

pressed?

machine must be as straight as

possible. Make sure it is not

squashed or kinked.

The washing machine

continuously fills and

drains water.

Is the drain hose

positioned too low? It must

be installed at a height ranging

from 60 to 100 cm.

Is the end of the hose

immersed in water?

Does the wall drainage

system have a breather

pipe? If the problem persists

even after these checks, turn

the water supply off the

machine and call for

assistance.

If you live on an upper floor of

your building, there may be a

problem with your drain trap.

To solve this problem, a special

valve must be installed.

When Margherita

arrives

Installation and removal

Whether new or just transported to a new house,

installation is extremely important for the correct

functioning of your washing machine.

The hook to be used in case the drain

hose ends at a height below 60 cm.

If the drains hose empties into a

tub or sink then fit the plastic

guide and secure it to the tap.

The guide for draining into tubs and

sinks.

The end of the drain hose must

be positioned so that it cannot

become submerged.

Extensions are unadvisable. In

case of absolute need, the

extension must have the same

diameter as the original hose and

must not exceed 150 cm. In case

of wall draining pipes, their

efficiency must be checked by a

qualified technician. If the

dwelling is on one of the upper

floors of a building, there may be

drain trap problems causing the

washing machine to load and

unload water continuously.

In order to avoid such an

inconvenience, special anti-drain

trap valves are available in shops.

Electric connection

Before connecting the appliance

to the electric socket, be sure

that:

1) the electric socket is able to

sustain the appliances

maximum power load

indicated on the data plate

and in compliance with the

law;

2) the supply voltage is included

within the values indicated

on the data plate;

3) the socket is compatible with

the appliances plug. If not,

do not use adapters, but

replace either the socket or

the plug;

4) electric household appliances

must be equipped with an

earthing system.

After removing the appliance

from its packaging, check that it

is intact. If in doubt, contact a

qualified technician immediately.

The inside of the machine is

supported, for transportation, by

four screws on the back panel.

Before using the washing machine,

remove the screws, remove the

spacers together with the rubber

tubes attached to them (keeping

all the parts) and use the plastic

plugs provided to fill in the holes.

Important: Use the cap (provided)

to close the 3 holes which housed

the stop pin, situated in the right-

hand part of the lower back of the

washing machine.

Levelling

The washing machine must be

levelled appropriatey in order to

guarantee its correct functioning.

To level the appliance, the front

feet must be adjusted; the angle

of inclination, measured

according to the worktop, must

not exceed 2°. When placed on

carpet, make sure the ventilation

is not reduced.

The front feet are adjustable.

Connection to the water

mains

Water pressure must range within

the values indicated on the data

plate on the rear of your washing

machine. If the water pipes are

new or left unused, then before

connecting the machine run the

water until clear to remove

debris. Connect the inlet hose to

a cold water tap having a ¾  BSP

thread. Ensure that the rubber

sealing washers are fitted at each

end of the inlet hose, with the fitter

washer at the tap end.

Connecting the drain

hose

There are two hooks (right or

left) on the rear of your washing

machine to which the drain hose

is to be fixed. Insert the other

end in a stand pipe or place it on

the edge of a sink or tub avoiding

excessive kinks and bending. It

should be placed at a height

ranging from 60 to 100 cm. If it

is necessary to fix the end of the

hose at a height below 60 cm

from the ground, it must be fixed

in the appropriate hook placed

on the upper part of the back

panel.

Easy Care and Maintenance

Your washing machine is a reliable companion in life and on the job. It is just as important for you to

keep it in shape.

Margherita is a washing machine

designed to provide reliable

service over many years. A few

simple steps will help to prolong

its life and avoid problems. It is

advisable, to turn off water taps

when the machine is not to be

used, this protects the hoses, etc.

If the water in your area is too

hard, use a deliming product

(water is hard if it often leaves

whitish stains around taps or

drains, especially of bath tubs.

For more accurate information as

to the type of water in your

system, call the local water

works or a local plumber).

Pockets must always be emptied

removing even pins, badges and

any other hard object.

The washing machine exterior

should be cleaned with a rag

dipped in lukewarm water and

soap.

Never exaggerate with

doses.

Normal detergents already

contain deliming agents. Only if

the water is particularly hard,

that is, rich in lime content, do

we recommend the use of a

specific product at every wash.

A periodical wash cycle with a

dose of a deliming product,

without detergents or washing,

may prove useful.

Never use too much detergent or

additives because this could cau-

se an excess amount of foam,

scaling and possible damage to

the component parts of your

washing machine.

When in need, check the pump and the rubber hose.

Margherita comes equipped with a self-cleaning pump that does not require any cleaning or maintenance. Small objects

may accidentally fall into the pump: coins, hair clips, loose buttons and other small items. To avoid possible damage,

they are withheld in an accessible pre-chamber, situated at the lower end of the pump.

It is important to

wash the detergent

dispenser regularly.

To prevent dried

washing powder from

accumulating, place

the dispenser under

running water for a

few minutes.

Do not forget to empty all pockets: small objects can cause

damage to your friend Margherita.

Attention: Before attempting to examine this pre-chamber,

first ensure that the machine has finished its programme and

is empty. Unplug the machine, as with any maintenance.

To gain access gently ease down the top of the plinth panel

situated at the base of the machine, with a screwdriver etc,

to release it. Then ease the top edge forward to allow it to be

lifted clear (Fig. 1). Place a shallow dish or tray below the

cover of the pre-chamber to catch the small amount of water

present. Release the cover by turning anti-clockwise (Fig. 2).

Ensure that the cover is securely replaced.

Re-fit the plinth cover by inserting the hooks on its lower

edge into the slots and ease the top edge back into position.

The water inlet hose

Check the rubber hose at least once a year. If you see any cracks, replace it immediately. When you use your washing

machine, water pressure is very strong and a cracked tube could easily split open.

of vital information on safety,

1. Margherita should not be

installed in an outdoor

environment, not even

when a roof shelters the

area, because it may be

very dangerous to leave it

exposed to rain and

thunderstorms.

2. It must only be used by

adults and exclusively for

washing clothes following

the instructions provided in

this manual.

3. Should it have to be moved,

proceed with the help of

two or three people and

handle it with the utmost

care. Never try to do this

alone, because the

appliance is very heavy.

4. Before loading the washing

machine, make sure the

drum is empty.

5. Never touch the washing

machine when barefoot

or with wet or damp

hands or feet.

6. Never use extensions or

multiple plugs, which are

particularly dangerous in

humid environments. The

power supply cable must

never be bent or

dangerously compressed.

7. Never open the detergent

dispenser while the

appliance is functioning;

do not use hand wash

detergent because the

abundance of foam could

damage its internal parts.

8. Never pull on the supply

cable or the washing

machine to disconnect it

from the wall socket: it is

extremely dangerous.

9. While the appliance is

functioning, do not touch

the drain water as it

could reach very high

temperatures. The

appliance door, during

wash cycles, tends to

become hot; ensure that

children do no touch it.

Never force the washing

machine door because

this could damage the

safety lock which prevents

accidental opening when

the nachine is working.

Allow a few minutes at the

end of the program for the

lock to release.

10. In case of malfunctio-

ning, first close the

water tap and unplug the

appliance from the wall

socket; do not under any

circumstances touch

internal parts in order to

attempt repairs.

O que colocar na

máquina de lavar?

Antes de lavar, é possível fazer muito para lavar melhor. Divida as peças

em função do tecido e da cor. Olhe as etiquetas e obedeça as indicações.

Alterne peças pequenas com peças grandes.

Antes de lavar.

Divida a roupa em função do tipo

de tecido e da firmeza das cores:

os tecidos mais resistentes devem

ser separados dos delicados.

As cores claras devem ser

separadas das escuras.

Esvazie as algibeiras (moedas,

papéis, dinheiro e pequenos

objectos) e verifique os botões.

Pregue ou retire os botões quase

soltos, pois poderão soltarem-se

durante a lavagem.

Como eliminar as manchas mais frequentes

Tinta e esferográfica: Passar algodão molhado com álcool metílico ou álcool 90°.

Alcatrão: Passe um pano com manteiga fresca, terebintina e lave logo de seguida.

Cera: Raspe e em seguida passe com ferro bem quente entre duas folhas de papel absorvente. Em seguida

passe algodão com aguarrás ou álcool metílico.

Pastilha elástica: Passe acetona e em seguida limpe com um pano.

Bolor: Coloque o algodão e linho branco numa solução de 5 partes de água, uma de lixívia e uma colher de

vinagre, lave logo em seguida. Para outros tecidos brancos use água oxigenada 10 volumes e lave logo em seguida.

Batom: Passe éter se o tecido for de lã ou algodão. Para seda utilize terebintina.

Verniz: Apoie a parte manchada sobre uma folha de papel absorvente, molhe com acetona, desloque a

peça a medida que o papel absorver a tinta.

Relva: Passe algodão molhado com álcool metílico.

Iniciar a Margherita

Colocar a Margherita a funcionar

do modo certo é importante, seja

para a qualidade da lavagem, seja

para prevenir problemas e aumen-

tar a duração da máquina de la-

var. Depois de ter colocado a

roupa, o detergente e os

eventuais aditivos, controle sem-

pre se:

1.A porta de vidro está bem

fechada.

2.A ficha está colocada na

tomada.

3.A torneira da água está aberta.

Ligue a máquina

Carregue no botão B (posição I).

Escolha do programa

O programa é escolhido com base

no tipo de roupas a serem lavadas.

Para escolher o programa, consulte

a tabela da página 18. Rode o

selector A até o programa

escolhido coincidir com a marca

indicadora situada na parte

superior do vidrinho G, regule

todas as opções disponíveis (a

piscar) da maneira indicada nas

pág. 17 e 18 (referência

) e, em

seguida, carregue no botão C

(Start/Reset).

Assim que for instalada, realize um ciclo de

lavagem regulada no programa "1" a 90 graus.

Para as peças mais

delicadas: feche num

saquinho de pano as

roupas de baixo,

meias de senhoras e

peças delicadas, para

protegê-las

Separar as peças pelo

tipo de tecido e cor, é

importante para obter

bons resultados

Se desejar interromper o

programa em andamento,

Nesta altura é possível abrir com

Depois de ter tirado a roupa,

deixe sempre a porta de vidro

interior possa evaporar.

Feche sempre a torneira da água.

Lembre-se que em caso de cor-

te de água ou energia, ou caso

desligue a máquina a meio da

lavagem, o programa selec-

cionado permanece em

memória.

Dispositivo contra o

desequilíbrio.

Esta máquina de lavar roupa é

dotada de um dispositivo especial

de controlo electrónico, para di-

stribuir bem a carga: antes da

centrifugação, este dispositivo

garante que as roupas se

disponham o mais uniformemen-

te possível no tambor, em

compatibilidade com o tipo de

roupa e com a disposição inicial

da mesma. É por isto que a

máquina, mesmo na rotação

máxima, não vibra nem produz

ruídos.

O visor indica a temperatura

O que deseja lavar hoje?

Classe A a 40°C: a Margherita possui um programa especial para obter óptimos resultados de lavagem mesmo a baixas

temperaturas. Regule o programa 4 na temperatura a 40° C, os resultados são os mesmos normalmente obtidos a 60°C, graças à

acção da máquina de lavar roupa e ao aumento da duração da lavagem.

Lavagem quotidiano: a Margherita possui um programa estudado para lavar roupas ligeiramente sujas em pouco tempo.

Seleccione o programa 9 na temperatura a 30°C, (é possível lavar juntos tecidos de diferente natureza, excepto lã e seda) com

uma carga máxima de 3 Kg. Este programa permite economizar tempo e energia, porque dura somente cerca de 30 minutos.

Conselhos Úteis para não se enganar

Nunca lave na máquina de

lavar ... Roupa com cores fortes

junto com roupa branca; roupa

sem bainha, desfiada ou rasgada.

Se for necessário lavá-la, feche-a

num saquinho de rede.

Cuidado com o peso!

Para obter os melhores

resultados, não ultrapasse os

pesos indicados, referentes à

carga máxima de roupa enxuta:

- Tecidos resistentes:

máximo 6 kg.

- Tecidos sintéticos:

máximo 2,5 kg.

- Tecidos delicados:

máximo 2 kg.

- Pura lã virgem:

máximo 1 kg.

Como lavar quase tudo

As cortinas.

Tendem a enrugarem-se muito.

Para evitar este efeito, dobre-as

bem e coloque-as dentro de uma

fronha ou num saquinho de rede.

Lave-as sozinhas, de modo a que

o peso total não ultrapasse a meia

carga. Lembre-se de utilizar o

programa específico 11, que prevê

em automático a desactivação da

centrifugação.

Sapatilhas.

Para as sapatilhas de tecido, é

preciso primeiramente tirar o

barro, e podem ser lavadas mesmo

juntas com calças de ganga e

roupas mais resistentes. Não as

lave junto com roupas brancas.

Edredões e anoraques.

Também os edredões e os

anaroques, se o recheio for de

plumas de ganso ou de pato,

podem ser lavados na máquina de

lavar. O importante é não carregar

6 kg. mas no máximo 2 ou 3 kg.,

repita a enxaguada uma ou duas

vezes, utilize a centrífuga

delicada.

Mas quanto pesa?

1 lençol 400 - 500 gr.

1 fronha 150 - 200 gr.

1 toalha de mesa 400 - 500 gr.

1 roupão 900 - 1.200 gr.

1 toalha de rosto 150 - 250 gr.

As camisolas coloridas, as

estampadas e as camisas duram

mais se forem lavadas do lado do

avesso.

As camisolas, mesmo as mais

grossas, devem sempre ser

passadas do lado do avesso.

Alarme: calças com peitilho.

As calças com peitilho, que

possuem suspensórios com

ganchos, podem estragar o

tambor da máquina ou as outras

roupas durante a lavagem. Deve

colocar os ganchos numa algibeira

do peitilho, ou prendê-los com

alfinetes de fralda, eliminará

assim, os perigos.

Férias: desligue a ficha.

Quando sair de férias, é

aconselhável tirar a ficha da

tomada, fechar a torneira de

entrada de água e deixar aberta

ou entreaberta a porta de vidro.

Desta maneira, o tambor e a

guarnição permanecerão enxutos

e no interior não se formarão

odores desagradáveis.

O programa de lavagem

"Caxemira Gold" foi estudado

para lavar à máquina também

as peças de lã e de Caxemira,

mais delicadas e preciosas.

O ciclo de lavagem de lã das

máquinas de lavar roupa da

Merloni Elettrodomestici foi

testado e aprovado pela

'Woolmark' para lavar peças

'Woolmark' para os quais a

etiqueta indicar "lavar a mão".

Trata-se do primeiro ciclo de

Este resultado é possível graças

a uma velocidade do tambor de

O segredo da gaveta dos detergentes

Importante para lavar melhor

O primeiro segredo é o mais fácil: a gaveta dos

detergentes abre-se girando-a para fora.

Economia com boa gestão

Um guia para uma

utilização económico e

ecológica dos

electrodomésticos.

MÁXIMA CARGA

O modo melhor para não desperdiçar energia, água, detergente e tempo é

utilizar a máquina de lavar com a máxima carga aconselhada.

Uma carga plena, em vez de duas cargas pela metade, permite ECONOMIZAR

até 50% de energia.

A PRÉ-LAVAGEM É REALMENTE NECESSÁRIA?

Somente para roupa realmente suja.

Programar uma lavagem SEM pré-lavagem para roupa pouco suja ou

mediamente suja permite ECONOMIZAR detergente, tempo, água e entre 5 e

15% de energia.

A LAVAGEM COM ÁGUA QUENTE É REALMENTE NECESSÁRIA?

Tratar as manchas com um produto tira-manchas ou imergir as manchas

enxutas na água antes da lavagem, permite reduzir a necessidade de

programar uma lavagem com água quente.

Utilize um programa de lavagem a 60° para ECONOMIZAR até 50% de energia.

ANTES DE UTILIZAR UM PROGRAMA DE ENXUGAR 

Seleccione uma outra velocidade de rotação para reduzir o conteúdo de água na

roupa antes de utilizar o programa de enxugar. Isto significa ECONOMIZAR

tempo e energia.

A gaveta dos detergentes pode ser

tirada para ser lavada, basta levantá-

la e puxá-la para fora, da maneira

indicada na figura e deixá-la um pouco

debaixo de água corrente.

É preciso deitar os detergentes e

eventualmente o aditivo de acordo

com as doses indicadas pelos

fabricantes destes produtos: em

geral encontra todas as informações

na embalagem. As doses variam em

função da carga de roupa, da dureza

da água e da sujidade da roupa.

Com a experiência, aprenderá a

dosear as quantidades de modo

quase automático: tornam-se um

próprio segredo.

Antes de deitar o detergente para a

pré-lavagem no compartimento 1,

verifique se não está colocado o re-

cipiente adicional 4, reservado para

a lixívia.

Quando deitar amaciador no com-

partimento 3, evite que o mesmo

transborde pela rede.

A máquina de lavar roupa é capaz

de recolher automaticamente o

amaciador em todos os programas

de lavagem.

O detergente líquido precisa ser

colocado no compartimento 2,

somente poucos instantes antes da

máquina iniciar o funcionamento.

Lembre-se que o detergente líquido

é especialmente adequado para

lavagens com temperaturas até 60

graus e para os programas de

lavagem que não preverem a fase

de pré-lavagem.

Os detergentes líquidos ou em pó

com recipientes especiais a serem

inseridos directamente dentro do

tambor, devem ser colocados

segundo as instruções escritas na

embalagem.

Nunca utilize detergentes para a

lavagem à mão, porque formam

demasiada espuma, potencial-men-

te danificante para a máquina de la-

var, à excepção dos detergentes

especificamente estudados, que

permitam a lavagem à mão e na

máquina de lavar.

Um último segredo: quando lavar

com água fria, reduza sempre a

quantidade de detergente: na água

fria os detergentes dissolvem-se

menos que na água quente, evite

portanto, o desperdicio.

Ciclo para branquear

Se for necessário branquear a

roupa, é preciso colocar o recipien-

te adicional 4 (fornecido) no com-

partimento 1 da gaveta dos

detergentes.

Quando deitar a lixívia, tome

cuidado para não ultrapassar o nível

"max" indicado no pino central

(veja a figura).

A utilização do recipiente adicional

para a lixívia exclui a possibilidade

de efectuar a pré-lavagem. A

lixívia tradicional deve ser

utilizada exclusivamente para

os tecidos resistentes brancos,

enquanto que a delicada pode

ser utilizada para os tecidos

coloridos, sintéticos e para a lã.

Não é possível branquear a roupa

nos programas 11 (Seda), nem

nos "programas especiais" (veja na

pág. 18).

Se desejar branquear separada-

mente será necessário deitar a

lixívia no recipiente adicional 4,

regule o programa

enxaguamento (símbolo

)

para os tecidos de algodão ou a

enxaguamento delicado

(símbolo

) para os tecidos

sintéticos.

O nível de enxaguamento pode

ser regulado em Médio ou Alto

(veja a pág. 17).

Quando for alvejar durante um

normal ciclo de lavagem, deite

o detergente e os produtos

aditivos nos respectivos

compartimentos (veja a tabela

na pág. 18), regule o programa

desejado e active a opção

nódoas difícies.

Antes de telefonar, leia aqui

Problemas e soluções

Pode acontecer que a máquina de lavar roupa não funcione. Em muitos casos

tratam-se de problemas fáceis de resolver sem precisar de chamar o técnico.

Antes de telefonar para a assistência técnica, verifique sempre estes aspectos.

A Máquina de lavar

roupa não começa a

funcionar.

A ficha está bem enfiada na

tomada? Ao fazer as

arrumações pode ter sido

deslocada.

Há corrente eléctrica em

casa? Pode ter-se fundido um

fusível, talvez porque há

demasiados electrodomésticos

ligados, ou porque há uma

interrupção geral na zona.

A porta de vidro está bem

fechada? Por motivos de

segurança, a máquina de lavar

não pode funcionar se a porta

de vidro estiver aberta ou mal

fechada.

O botão de ligado/desligado

foi carregado? Se tiver sido,

foi regulado um início de

lavagem programado.

O botão de Start/Reset foi

carregado? Se tiver sido, foi

regulado um início de lavagem

programado.

A torneira de água está

aberta? Por motivos de

segurança, se a máquina de lavar

não meter água, não pode

começar a lavagem.

Se a água for muito calcária, ou

se recentemente tiverem sido

realizados trabalhos no

aqueduto, o filtro da torneira

pode estar entupido por

fragmentos e detritos.

O tubo de borracha está

dobrado? O percurso do tubo

de borracha que conduz a água

à máquina de lavar precisa ser

o mais rectilíneo possível.

Verifique se não está esmagado

nem dobrado.

A máquina de lavar

roupa mete e tira

água continuamente.

O tubo está colocado

demasiado baixo? Precisa ser

instalado a uma altura variável

entre 60 e 100 cm.

O bocal do tubo está imerso

em água?

A descarga na parede

possui respiradouro para o

ar? Se depois desta

verificações o problema não

for resolvido, feche a torneira

da água, desligue a máquina de

lavar roupa e chame a

assistência técnica.

Se morar num andar alto,

podem estar a ocorrer

fenómenos de sifão.

Para resolver isto, é preciso

instalar uma válvula

apropriada.

O condutor do sistema de

descarga está entupido? Uma

eventual extensão do tubo de

descarga é irregular e impede a

passagem da água?

A máquina de lavar

roupa vibra muito

durante a fase de

centrífugação.

O grupo oscilante interno,

no momento de instalação,

foi desbloqueado correcta-

so controlar periodicamente o

máquina de lavar? Verifique

se está escrito "para máquina

de lavar" ou "à mão e máquina

de lavar" ou similar.

A quantidade está certa?

Um excesso de detergente,

além de formar demasiada

espuma, não lava de modo

mais eficaz e contribui para

produzir crostas nas peças

internas da máquina de lavar.

Se, apesar de todos os controlos,

a máquina de lavar roupa não

funcionar e o defeito detectado

continuar a manifestar-se, chame

o Centro de Assistência Técnica

autorizado mais próximo,

comunique estas informações:

- o tipo de defeito

- a sigla (Mod. ....)

- o número de série (S/N ....)

Quer seja nova ou somente transferida de uma casa para outra,

a instalação é um momento importantíssimo para o bom

funcionamento da máquina de lavar roupa.

cm. do chão, é necessário prender o

tubo no apropriado gancho situado

na parte alta do posterior.

Se o tubo descarregar na banheira

ou no lavatório, aplique a guia de

matéria plástica e prenda-a na

torneira.

Nunca deve permanecer imersa na

água.

São desaconselhados tubos de

extensão. Se for absolutamente

indispensável, a extensão preci-

sa possuir o mesmo diâmetro do

tubo original e não deve

ultrapassar 150 cm. No caso de

descarga na parede, mandar veri-

ficar a eficiência por um técnico

habilitado. Se se encontrar nos

últimos andares de um edifício, é

possível que aconteçam

fenómenos de sifão por causa dos

quais a máquina de lavar roupa

carrega e descarrega água conti-

nuamente.

Para eliminar este inconveniente,

há à disposição no comércio,

apropriadas válvulas contra o

efeito sifão.

Ligação eléctrica

Antes de ligar a máquina à tomada

eléctrica certifique que:

1) a tomada eléctrica seja capaz

de suportar a carga máxima de

potência da máquina indicada

na placa das características e

que esteja em conformidade

com a legislação;

2) a tensão de alimentação seja

compreendida entre os valores

indicados na placas das

características;

3) a tomada seja compatível com

a ficha da máquina. Em caso

contrário, não utilize

adaptadores mas providencie

a troca da tomada ou da ficha;

4) os sistemas eléctricos

domésticos devem ser dotados

de "ligação à terra".

Depois de ter tirado da

embalagem, certifique-se que o

aparelho está em bom estado. No

caso de dúvida, chame logo um

técnico qualificado. O interior

da máquina de lavar roupa é

bloqueado, para o transporte,

mediante quatro parafusos no

posterior.

Antes de colocar em

funcionamen-to a máquina de la-

var, tire os parafusos, tire a

borrachinha com o respectivo

calço (guarde todas as peças) e

feche todos os furos com as

tampas de matéria plástica

fornecidas anexas.

Importante: feche com tampas

(fornecidas) os 3 furos nos quais

estava colocada a cavilha,

situados na parte traseira em

baixo, à direita da máquina de

lavar roupa.

Nivelamento

Para o bom funcionamento da

máquina de lavar é importante

que a mesma esteja bem nivelada.

Para efectuar o nivelamento é

suficiente regular os pés

dianteiros; o ângulo de inclinação,

medido no plano de trabalho, não

deve ultrapassar 2°. Se houver

alcatifa, certifique-se que não

impede a ventilação na área de

apoio.

Os pés dianteiros podem ser

regulados.

Ligação à alimentação

de água

A pressão hídrica precisa estar no

intervalo entre os valores indicadas

na placa colocada na parte de trás.

Ligue o tubo de carga a uma torneira

de água fria com bocal de rosca de

3/4 gás, interponha a guarnição de

borracha.

Se a canalização de água for nova

ou tiver permanecido sem ser

utilizada, antes de realizar a

ligação, deixe escorrer água até a

mesma sair límpida e isenta de

impurezas. Ligue o tubo à máquina,

através da apropriada entrada para

a água, no alto à direita.

Ligação do tubo de

descarga

Na parte traseira da máquina há dois

engates (direito ou esquerdo) para

prender o tubo de descarga. Coloque

a outra ponta num tubo de

escoamento de águas ou apoie-o

no lavatório ou na banheira, evite

esmagamentos e curvas excessivas.
