Intended use
The Ultimate Speed ULG3.8B1 is a multi-stage
car battery charger that is suitable for charging
and trickle-charging 6V or 12V lead-acid batteries
(batteries) with electrolyte solution (WET), electrolyte absorbent mats (AGM) or gel electrolyte (GEL).
This appliance is not suitable for charging lithium-ion
batteries. This appliance is not intended for commercial use and must be used indoors only.
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for
damage(s) attributable to misuse.

The charger is suitable for indoor
use only.
■ This appliance may be used by chil-
dren aged 8 years and above and
by persons with limited physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge,
provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use
the appliance safely and are aware
of the potential risks. Children must
not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks
may not be carried out by children
unless they are supervised.
■ To avoid potential risks, damaged
mains cables should be replaced
by the manufacturer, their customer
service department or a similarly
qualified person.
Additional safety instructions
■ Do not use the charger for charging
non-rechargeable batteries.
■ Do not use the charger for charging
lithium-ion batteries.
■ Place the removed battery in a well-
ventilated location during charging.
■ The automatic mode of operation
and usage restrictions are explained
below in these operating instructions.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
■ Do not operate the appliance with
a damaged cable, power cord or
mains plug. Damaged power cords
are hazardous to life due to the risk
of electric shock.
■ Before connecting to the mains,
make sure that the mains current is a
standard 230V~50Hz, equipped
with an earthed neutral conductor,
a 16A fuse and a residual-current
circuit breaker (RCCB).
■ Disconnect the charger from the
mains before making connections
to the battery.
■ Always connect the positive terminal
clamp (red) first.

10 cm from the battery and the
fuel line.
■ Now connect the charger to the
power supply.
■ Disconnect the charger from the
mains power supply after charging. Only then remove the terminal
clamp from the chassis. Then remove the terminal clamp from the
chassis.

Protect yourself from a highly explosive
oxyhydrogen gas reaction!
■ Make sure that there are no sources
of open fire (flames, embers or
sparks) in the vicinity when charging or discharging batteries!
■ Make sure that the positive terminal
connecting cable has no contact
with a fuel line (e.g. petrol line)!
■ Make sure that no explosive and
flammable substances, e.g. petrol
or solvents, can be ignited when
using the charger!
■ Ensure that there is adequate venti-
lation during charging.
RISK OF CHEMICAL BURNS!
■ Wear safety goggles! Wear pro-
tective gloves! If your eyes or skin
come into contact with battery acid,
rinse the affected part of the body
with plenty of clear running water
and seek immediate medical assistance!
■ Avoid an electric short-circuit when
connecting the charger to the battery. Connect the negative terminal
connecting cable only to the negative terminal of the battery or to the
coachwork. Connect the positive
terminal connecting cable only to
the positive terminal of the battery!
■ Do not set up the charger near a
fire or subject it to heat or temperatures exceeding 50°C for long
periods of time!
■ When attaching the charger, be
sure not to damage any lines for
fuel, electricity, braking system,
hydraulics or water with screws!
■ Do not cover the charger with
objects of any kind!
■ Protect the electrical contacts of the
battery against short-circuiting!

■ Use the charger exclusively for
charging or trickle charging undamaged 6V/12V lead batteries!
Frozen batteries may not be charged.
Operation
Before use
♦ Before connecting the battery charger, read the
operating instructions of the battery thoroughly.
♦ In addition, observe the vehicle manufacturer's
instructions for a permanently connected battery.
Secure the vehicle; turn off the ignition.
♦ Clean the battery terminals. Ensure that your
eyes do not come in contact with the dirt in the
process.
♦ Ensure sufficient ventilation.
Connecting
NOTE
► There are two options for connecting the
charger. Connect the negative terminal
connecting cable (black) either directly to
the negative terminal of the battery or to the
chassis. Please also bear in mind the vehicle
manufacturer's instructions.
♦ Before starting the charging or trickle charging
procedure on a permanently installed battery in
a vehicle, first disconnect the negative terminal
connecting cable (black) of the vehicle from the
negative terminal of the battery. The negative
terminal of the battery is usually connected to
the vehicle's chassis.
♦ Then disconnect the positive terminal connecting
cable (red) of the vehicle from the positive terminal of the battery.
♦ Clamp the positive terminal clamp (red)
charger to the positive terminal on the battery.
♦ Clamp the negative terminal clamp (black)
of the charger to the negative terminal on the
battery.

Select charging mode
You can choose between different charging modes
for charging various batteries at different ambient
temperatures. Unlike standard battery chargers,
this appliance has a special function for reusing an
empty rechargeable battery. You can recharge a
completely discharged battery. A protection function against incorrect connection and short circuiting ensures safe charging. Due to the installed
electronics, the charger does not begin operation
directly after connecting the battery, but only starts
after a charging mode has been selected. This prevents sparking, which often occurs when connecting. In addition, the battery charger is controlled by
an internal MCU (microcomputer unit).

ance automatically returns to its initial state and
remains in Standby mode

Automatic battery recognition
As soon as the charger is connected to the mains
power supply, the LED display
lights up.
The charger recognises the battery on the basis of
the following criteria:
If the voltage of the battery is less than 3.8 V or
greater than 15 V, the battery is not suitable for
charging or defective. In this case, the LED Displays

The mode is suitable for the charging/regeneration
of empty, used and overcharged 12V lead-acid
batteries.
When the charger is connected to a battery and
the charging process starts it automatically recognises the battery voltage. It will switch to pulse
charging mode if the voltage is in the range of
7.5V ± 0.5 to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
This pulse charging process is continued until the
battery voltage has increased to 10.5V ± 0.5V.
As soon as this state is reached, the charger switch-
es over to the previously selected normal charging
mode.
Now the battery can be charged quickly and safely. Most empty, used or overcharged batteries can
be regenerated and reused using this procedure.

Trickle charging
The charge is equipped with an automatic trickle
charging function. Depending on the voltage of the
battery, the charger reacts by supplying different
charging current. The battery can remain connected to the charger for a long period of time.
Protective function of the appliance
In the case of an incident such as short circuiting, a
critical voltage drop during the charging process,
an open circuit or reversed connection of the output
terminals, the charger deactivates the electronic
system and immediately switches back to its basic
state to avoid damage.
If you do not activate any settings, the system will
remain in Standby mode. If the terminals are incorrectly connected (reverse polarity), the LED display
"ERROR" also lights up.
If the appliance becomes too hot during charging,
the power output is automatically reduced. This
also protects the appliance from damage.
Maintenance and cleaning
WARNING! Always remove the
power plug from the wall socket
before carrying out any work on
the battery charger.
The appliance is maintenance-free.
♦ Under no circumstances should solvents or other
aggressive cleaning agents be used.
♦ Clean the plastic surfaces of the appliance with
a soft, dry cloth.

This appliance is provided with a 3-year
warranty valid from the date of purchase.
The appliance has been manufactured with
care and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase. In the event of a warranty claim,
please contact your Customer Service unit by
telephone. This is the only way to guarantee
free return of your goods.
The warranty only covers claims for material and
manufacturing defects, not for damage sustained
during transport, wearing parts or damage to fragile components such as switches or batteries. This
appliance is intended solely for private use and not
for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be
deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications/repairs which
have not been carried out by one of our authorised
Service centres. Your statutory rights are not restricted by this warranty. The warranty period is not
prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty.
This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time
of purchase must be reported immediately after

Prije uključivanja uređaja

za uporabu baterije.
♦ Osim toga, pridržavati se treba i propisa proizvo-
đača vozila za bateriju koja je stalno priključena
u vozilu. Osigurajte vozilo i isključite kontakt.
♦ Očistite polove baterije. Pazite da oči pritom ne
dođu u kontakt s prljavštinom.
♦ Uvijek osigurajte dostatnu ventilaciju.
Priključivanje
NAPOMENA
► Punjač se može priključiti na dva načina.
Priključni kabel za minus pol (crni) može se
priključiti ili izravno na minus pol akumulatora, ili na karoseriju. Pridržavajte se propisa
proizvođača vozila.

Odabir modusa punjenja
Za punjenje različitih baterija pri različitoj temperaturi okoline možete birati između tri različita
modusa punjenja. U usporedbi s konvencionalnim
uređajima za punjenje baterija, ovaj uređaj raspolaže specijalnom funkcijom za ponovnu uporabu
prazne baterije/praznog akumulatora. Možete
ponovno napuniti potpuno ispražnjenu bateriju/
potpuno ispražnjeni akumulator. Zaštita od pogrešnog priključivanja i kratkog spoja omogućava
siguran postupak punjenja. Zbog ugrađene elektronike, uređaj za punjenje ne započinje s radom
neposredno nakon priključivanja baterije, nego tek
nakon što odaberete modus punjenja. Na taj način
sprječava se nastanak iskri, koje se često pojavljuju
prilikom priključivanja. Osim toga, punjačem upravlja ugrađeni MCU (mikroprocesorska jedinica).
Resetiranje/brisanje postavki

đaj se automatski prebacuje u osnovni položaj i

Modus impulsnog punjenja
Ovaj modus prikladan je za punjenje/regeneriranje
praznih, istrošenih i prenapunjenih olovnih baterija
od 12V.
Kada je punjač priključen na bateriju i uređaj započne s punjenjem, automatski prepoznaje napon
baterije. Prebacuje u impulsni modus punjenja
kada je napon u području od 7,5V ± 0,5 do
10,5V ± 0,5V.
Ovaj impulsni tijek punjenja nastavlja se sve dok
napon baterije ne poraste i dostigne 10,5 V ± 0,5 V.
Čim se dostigne ovo stanje, punjač prelazi u normalni, prethodno odabrani modus punjenja.
Sada se baterija može brzo i sigurno napuniti.
Ovim postupkom možete ponovo napuniti i koristiti
