this product. They contain important information on safety, usage and disposal.
Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety
instructions. Use the product only as described and for the specifi ed areas of application. Please also pass on these operating instructions to any future owner.

Intended use
This appliance is intended exclusively for the weighing of food in private households. It is not intended for commercial or industrial applications.
The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by failure to
observe these instructions, improper use, incompetent repairs, unauthorised
modifi cations or for the use of non-approved replacement parts.
Package contents and transport inspection
The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:

Unpacking
♦ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the box.
♦ Remove all packaging material.
Disposal of packaging materials
The packaging protects the device from damage during transport. The packaging
materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of
disposal, and are therefore recyclable.
Returning the packaging into the material cycle conserves raw materials and
reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging materials that
are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.
NOTE
If possible, keep the device's original packaging during the warranty period

so that the device can be packed properly for return shipment in the event
of a warranty claim.

Safety
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
► This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and
above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge,
provided that they are under supervision or have been told
how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks.
► Children must not use the appliance as a plaything.
► Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried
out by children unless they are supervised.
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
► Ensure that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarities
and do not apply excessive force when inserting them.
► Never place more than 5 kg on the scale.
► Ensure that no fl uids can enter the scale.
► Avoid contact with solvents and corrosive or abrasive cleaning
materials.
► Use the scale only on level and fi rm surfaces.
► Do not subject the scale to high temperatures or powerful
magnetic fi elds.
► Avoid electrostatic charging and discharging. These can cause
erroneous displays and/or the sudden deactivation of the
scale.

INFORMATION ON USING BATTERIES
This appliance uses a battery. When handling batteries,
please observe the following:
RISK OF EXPLOSION!
► Do not throw batteries into a fi re. Do not recharge batteries.
► Never open batteries and never solder or weld batteries.
There is a risk of explosion and injury!
► Check the condition of the batteries at regular intervals.
Leaking batteries can cause damage to the appliance.
► If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended
period, remove the batteries.
► If the batteries have leaked, use protective gloves. Clean the
battery compartment and the battery contacts with a dry
cloth.
► Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Children might
put batteries into their mouth and swallow them. If a battery is
swallowed, medical assistance must be sought immediately.
1) Remove the plastic strip from the "Clock" battery compartment 7.
2) Turn the time adjustment wheel 6 until the correct time is displayed.
NOTES ON CHANGING THE BATTERY
Insert only one button-cell battery (type LR44).
►
► To open the "Clock" battery compartment 7, turn the cover of the battery
anticlockwise a little way using a thin coin. The arrow on the battery compartment cover must point to the arrow behind OPEN next to the battery
compartment.
► Remove the cover and take out the old battery.
► Insert a new battery. Pay attention to the correct polarity: the "+" pole must
be facing upwards.
► Place the cover on the "Clock" battery compartment 7 so that the arrow
on the cover points to the arrow behind OPEN next to the "Clock" battery
compartment 7. Turn the battery compartment cover in a clockwise direc-
tion until the arrow on the battery compartment cover points towards the
arrow in front of the word CLOSE.
The "Clock" battery compartment 7 is now closed.

Inserting/replacing the batteries in the scale
NOTE
Insert only new batteries (type AAA/micro/LR03) into the "Scale" battery
compartment 8.
1) Turn the scale over and place it on a soft surface so as to not to scratch the
surface.
2) Open the "Scale" battery compartment 8.
3) If present, remove the old batteries.
4) Insert the new batteries. Pay attention to the polarity indicated in the "Clock"
battery compartment 8.
5) Close the "Scale" battery compartment 8.
NOTE
When the batteries in the scale are running low, a battery symbol will

appear on the display 3. The background lighting on the display 3
will be deactivated.
This shows that the batteries need to be changed.
Setting up the device
Place the kitchen scales on a level and slip-free surface.
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE
This appliance is equipped with non-slip rubber feet.
►
As furniture surfaces may be made of a variety of materials and are treated
with many diff erent types of cleaning agents, it cannot be completely ruled
out that some substances contain ingredients which may perish the rubber
feet and soften them. If possible place an anti-slip mat under the feet of the
appliance.

NOTE
You can also hang the scales as a clock on the wall. To do this, use the

hanger 5 on the rear of the scale.

Operation
Weighing items
1) Press the scales briefl y. The appliance switches on.
2) Place the items to be weighed on the scale.
The weight and the selected unit of measurement are shown on the display 3.
NOTE
If you want to weigh food in a bowl, fi rst place the empty bowl on the scale
and then press the TARE button 4 before fi lling the bowl with the food. This
subtracts the weight of the bowl from the overall weight.
3) If you want to change the unit of measurement, press the UNIT button 2
until the desired unit of measurement is shown on the display 3. You can
choose between the following:
4) If you want to add additional items, proceed as described in the section
"Weighing additional ingredients (tare function)".
If you do not want to add any additional items, read the weight and remove
the food from the scale. The appliance switches off automatically after approximately 60 seconds.
Weighing additional ingredients (tare function)
You can set the scale back to "0" as often as required in order to weigh additional quantities.
1) To do this, press the TARE button 4 once.
The scales indicate a weight of "0" again.
2) Place the additional ingredient on the scale.
The weight of the newly added item is shown on the display 3.
You can repeat this procedure several times. However, never place more than
5 kg on the scale.
Switching the scale off
If you ...
– do not press any button,– do not place any item on the scale,– or do not remove any item from the scale ...
... within 60 seconds, the scale will switch off automatically.

Cleaning and care
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE
Damage to the device!
► To avoid irreparable damage to the device, ensure that no moisture can
penetrate the device during cleaning.
► When cleaning the surfaces, do not use abrasive or chemical cleaners, or
sharp or scratchy objects.
■ Wipe the scale with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent
on the cloth.
Storage/disposal
Storage
Store the appliance in a dry and dust-free location.
Remove the batteries before longer periods of inactivity.
Disposal of the device
Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste.
This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive
2012/19/EU-WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Dispose of the appliance via an approved waste disposal company or your
municipal waste disposal facility. Please comply with all applicable regulations.
Please contact your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt.

Batteries should not be disposed of in the domestic waste.
Always remove the batteries/cells from appliances before disposing of them.
Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of (rechargeable) batteries at a
collection point in their community/city district or at a retail store.
This obligation is intended to ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully
discharged.

Warranty
This appliance is provided with a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase.
The appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected meticulously
prior to delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim,
please contact your Customer Service unit by telephone. This is the only way to
guarantee free return of your goods.
NOTE
The warranty only covers claims for material and manufacturing defects,

not for damage sustained during carriage, components subject to wear
and tear or damage to fragile components such as switches or batteries.
This appliance is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes.
The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use
of force and modifi cations/repairs which have not been carried out by one of
our authorised Service centres.
Your statutory rights are not restricted by this warranty. The warranty period
is not prolonged by repairs eff ected under the warranty. This also applies to
replaced and repaired components.
Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, but no later than two days after the date of purchase.
Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to charge.
