Safety guidelines

DANGER – RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK!

► Ensure that the base containing the electrical connections NEVER

comes into contact with water! Allow the base to dry completely
if it accidentally becomes wet.

► Use the kettle only with the supplied base.
► Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp when

the appliance is in use. Route the cable so that it cannot be
trapped or damaged in any way.

► To prevent accidents, have defective plugs and/or power cables

replaced immediately by a qualifi ed specialist technician or our
Customer Service department.

► ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket after use.

Switching the appliance off is not suffi cient, because the appliance
is under power for as long as the plug is connected to the power
socket.

► Prior to use, check the appliance for visible external damage.

Do not operate a appliance that has been damaged or dropped.

► All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies

or by the Customer Service department. Failure to make proper
repairs can put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any war­ranty claim.

Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids! Risk

of electrocution if residual liquids come into contact with live
components during operation.

WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!

► Keep lid closed when boiling water, otherwise the automatic

switch-off cannot work. Boiling water could then spray out over
the rim.

► Bursts of hot steam may be released. The kettle also becomes

extremely hot during use. It is always best to wear oven mitts
when handling the kettle.

► Ensure that the appliance is stable and vertical before switching

it on. Boiling water can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.

► Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
► Appliances may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory

or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge
if they are supervised or have been instructed how to use the
appliance safely and have understood the potential risks.

► This appliance may be used by children aged 8years or over if

they are supervised or have been told how to use the appliance
safely and are aware of the potential risks. Cleaning and user
maintenance tasks must not be carried out by children unless they
are aged 8 years or more and are supervised. The appliance and
its connecting cable must be kept away from children younger
than 8 years old.

CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!

► Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote control

system to operate the appliance.

► Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
► Ensure that the appliance, the power cable and the plug do not

come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or naked
fl ames.

♦ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the box.
♦ Remove all packaging material.

Disposal of packaging materials

The packaging protects the appliance from damage during shipment.
The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness
and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable.

Returning the packaging to the materials cycle conserves raw materials and
reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging materials
which are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.

NOTE

► If possible, keep the original packaging of the appliance during the warranty

period so that the appliance can be packed pr

Initial operation

Before starting to use the appliance, ensure that ...

– the appliance, power plug and power cord are in proper condition

and ...

– all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance.

Open the lid 1 by pressing on the lid release button 2.

2) Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark and let it come to a full
boil once – as described in the next section.

3) After it has boiled, pour this water away.

4) Rinse the kettle out with clear water.

5) Fill the appliance with water once again, up to the MAX mark, and then
bring it to boil. When done, pour this water away also.

6) Rinse the kettle out with clear water.

The appliance is now ready for use.

► Always use fresh drinking water. Do not consume any water that has al-

eady stood in the kettle for longer than one hour. Do not reboil water that

has cooled down. Always pour old water away. It may contain germs!

NOTE

► Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 3 is in the "O" position when the

mains plug is unplugged and the appliance is standing on the base 5. If
not, the appliance could heat up unintentionally as soon as the mains plug
is plugged in again.

Lift the kettle off the base when fi lling it!

2) Open the lid 1 by pressing on the lid release button 2.

► When fi lling, hold the kettle upright. This is the only way to read the mark-

ings on the scale 7 corr

3) Fill the kettle...

– to at least the MIN mark, so that the appliance does not overheat,
– no further than the MAX mark, so that boiling water cannot spill out.

First close the lid 1 and then place the kettle on the base 5 in such a man­ner that it sits securely on the base 5.

5) Adjust the temperature control 6 to the required setting. To bring the water
to the boil, set the temperature control 6 to the MAX position in the boiling
range (area marked red on temperature control 6).

6) Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.

7) Press the ON/OFF switch 3 downwards so that it engages.

8) The control lamp 4 indicates that the appliance is now heating the water up.

INFORMATION ON TEMPERATURE RANGES

Temperature control in boiling range:

– The appliance switches itself off and the control lamp 4 goes out as

soon as the water boils. The ON/OFF switch 3 fl ips up.

Temperature control in keep hot range:

– If you want to keep the water hot after boiling it, adjust the temperature

control 6 to the keep hot range (area marked black in temperature
control 6) and press the ON/OFF switch 3 downwards until it
engages and the integrated control lamp 4 lights up.
You should use the keep hot function if you want to keep boiled water
hot, for example, to make fresh tea several times in succession.

The water does not start boiling in the keep hot range!

– After reaching the keep hot temperature set, the appliance switches

the heating process. The ON/OFF switch 3 and the operating

– Since the appliance is equipped with a keep hot function, it automati-

Please note that the appliance does not switch off automati­cally when in the keep hot function. You should therefore never
leave the appliance unattended!

TIPS

► This appliance is equipped with an overheating protection function: if the

appliance is switched on unintentionally without an
appliance switches itself off automatically.
If the appliance boils dry because the lid 1 has not been closed, for
example, the appliance switches itself off automatically. In these cases,
allow the appliance to cool down before using it again.

■ Clean all exterior surfaces and the power cable with a slightly moist cloth.

Always dry the appliance properly before using it again. For stubborn soiling
use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure that there is no detergent residue
on or in the appliance before using it again.

In the event of scale deposits:

Scale deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to increased energy con­sumption and reduce the service life of the appliance.
Descale the appliance as soon as scale deposits become apparent.

■ Before descaling, remove the scale fi lter insert 8 (see chapter "Inser

removing scale fi lter insert").

■ Use a descaler that is designed for household appliances (e.g. coff ee ma-

■ After descaling, rinse the appliance out with plenty of fresh water.

Inserting/removing the scale fi lter insert

1) Open the lid 1.

2) Press lightly from the inside against the catch in the upper middle section and
pull the scale fi lter insert 8 out.

3) Clean the scale fi lter insert 8 with a slightly moistened dishcloth and under
running water.

4) After cleaning, replace the scale fi lter insert 8. Ensure that the catch engages
and that the scale fi lter insert 8 is fi rmly seated.

of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected
meticulously prior to delivery.

Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim,

guarantee free return of your goods.

NEBEZPEČENSTVO ZÁSAHU ELEKTRICKÝM PRÚDOM!

► Zabezpečte, aby sa podstavec s elektrickými kontaktmi nikdy

nedostal do kontaktu s vodou! Nechajte podstavec najprv úplne
vyschnúť, ak bol neúmyselne navlhčený.

► Ohrievač vody používajte len s dodaným podstavcom.

► Pri napĺňaní držte kanvicu zvislo. Len tak môžete správne odčítať značky

na stupnici 7.

vodu do varu, musíte regulátor teploty 6 nastaviť do oblasti varu (červenou

6) Teraz zasuňte sieťovú zástrčku do zásuvky.

7) Zatlačte spínač ZAP/VYP 3 nadol tak, aby zaskočilo .

► Erhitzen Sie Wasser immer nur bei geschlossenem Deckel, andern-

falls funktioniert die Abschaltautomatik nicht. Kochendes Wasser
kann dann über den Rand herausspritzen.

► Es können heiße Dampfschwaden entweichen. Die Kanne ist zu-

dem im Betrieb sehr heiß. Tragen Sie daher Topf-Handschuhe.

► Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät stabil und

senkrecht steht, bevor Sie dieses einschalten. Kochendes Wasser
kann ein unstabil stehendes Gerät zum Umstürzen bringen.

► Öff nen Sie nicht den Deckel, während das Wasser kocht.

Entsorgung der Verpackung

Die Rückführung der Verpackung in den Materialkreislauf spart Rohstoff e und

2) Befüllen Sie das Gerät mit Wasser bis zur MAX-Markierung und lassen Sie
es einmal ganz aufkochen – wie im nächsten Kapitel beschrieben.

3) Gießen Sie dieses Wasser nach dem Aufkochen weg.

4) Spülen Sie die Kanne mit klarem Wasser aus.

5) Befüllen Sie das Gerät noch einmal mit Wasser bis zur MAX-Markierung und
lassen Sie es aufkochen. Gießen Sie auch dieses Wasser weg.

6) Spülen Sie die Kanne mit klarem Wasser aus.

Das Gerät ist nun betriebsbereit.

Sockel 5, dass diese fest auf dem Sockel 5 steht.

5) Stellen Sie den Temperaturregler 6 in die gewünschte Stellung. Um das
Wasser zum Kochen zu bringen, müssen Sie den Temperaturregler 6 in den
Kochbereich (rot markierter Bereich am Temperaturregler 6) auf die Position
MAX stellen.

6) Stecken Sie nun den Netzstecker in die Steckdose.

7) Drücken Sie den EIN-/AUS-Schalter 3 nach unten, so dass er einrastet.

8) Die Betriebsleuchte 4 zeigt an, dass das Gerät nun aufheizt.

Die Warmhaltefunktion können Sie zum Beispiel dazu verwenden,

mildes Spülmittel auf das Tuch. Achten Sie darauf, dass sich keine Spülmittel­reste am und im Gerät befi nden, bevor Sie es wieder in Betrieb nehmen.

Bei Kalk-Rückständen

Kalkablagerungen im Gerät führen zu Energieverlusten und beeinträchtigen die
Lebensdauer des Gerätes.
Entkalken Sie das Gerät, sobald sich Kalkablagerungen zeigen.

■ Nehmen Sie vor dem Entkalken den Kalkfi ltereinsatz 8 her
