the intended use, safety and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise

Safety instructions
RISK - ELECTRICAL SHOCK!
► Ensure that the base with the electrical connections NEVER
comes into contact with water! Ensure that the base is completely
dry before use, especially if it has accidentally become wet.
► Use the kettle only with the supplied base.
► Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp during
operation. Lay the cable so that it cannot be trapped or otherwise
damaged.
► To avoid risks, arrange for defective plugs and/or cables to be
replaced at once by qualifi ed technicians or our Customer Service Department, to avoid the risk of injury.
► After use, ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket.
Switching the appliance off is not suffi cient, because the appliance
is under power for as long as the plug is connected to the power
socket.
► Before use check the appliance for signs of visible external damage.
Do not put into operation an appliance that is damaged or has
been dropped.
► Repairs should only be carried out by authorized specialist
companies or by the Customer Service department. Incompetent
repairs can result in signifi cant risks for the user. In addition warranty claims become void.
NEVER submerse the appliance in water or other liquids!
You could receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids
come into contact with live components during operation.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Heat water only with the lid closed, otherwise the automatic switch-
off cannot function. Boiling water could then spray out over the rim.
► Always use the scale fi lter insert when operating the appliance.
► Hot steam clouds may be released. The kettle also becomes very
hot during use. It is always best to wear oven mitts when handling
the kettle.
► Ensure that the appliance is stood stably and vertically before
switching it on. Boiling water can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.
► Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
► This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or
knowledge if they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of
the appliance, have been instructed in its use and have understood the potential risks.
► This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or more if
they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of the appliance,
have been instructed in its use and have understood the potential
risks. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks should not be carried
out by children unless they are aged 8 years or more and are supervised. The device and its connecting cable must be kept away
from children younger than 8 years old.
► Children may not play with the appliance.
► Do not fi ll the kettle up to more than the MAX marking!
Otherwise boiling water may spill out!

Preparation
Unpacking
Ƈ Remove all components of the appliance and the operating manual from
the carton.
Ƈ Remove all packing material.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance against transport damage. The packaging
materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness
and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.
The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and
reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is
no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations.
NOTICE
If possible, preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty
►
period so that, in the event of a warranty claim, you can pack the appliance
ideally for its return.
Initial use
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Always and only use freshly drawn mains water in the kettle! Do not con-
sume any water that is not certifi ed as potable. If you do, you are taking a
risk with your health!
Before starting the appliance up, make certain that ...
– the appliance, plug and power cable are in a serviceable condition
and ...
– all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance.
1) Open the lid by pressing on the release button 1.
2) Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking and let it come to a
full boil once – as described in the next section.
3) After it has boiled, pour this water away.
4) Rinse the kettle out with clear water.
5) Fill the appliance with water once again, up to the MAX marking, and
then bring it to boil. When done, pour this water away also.
The appliance is now ready for use.

RISK - ELECTRICAL SHOCK!
Never place the electrical base 3 close to water – this would be a

potentially fatal risk!
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► For safety reasons you should not open the lid when the water is boiling or
extremely hot. There is a risk of scalding.
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Always use freshly drawn water. Do not consume any water that has
already stood in the kettle for longer than one hour. Do not reboil water
that has cooled down. Always pour old water away. Microbes could have
formed in it!
NOTE
Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 2 is turned to “ “ when the mains
►
plug is unplugged and the device is standing on the base 3.
If not, the device could heat up unintendedly as soon as the mains plug is
plugged in again.
1) Lift the kettle off of the base when fi lling it!
2) Press the unlocking button 1 and open the lid.

NOTE
When fi lling it, hold the kettle upright. This is the only way to read the
►
markings on the scale 5 correctly.
3) Fill the kettle...
4) First close the lid, then place the kettle on the base 3, so that it sits securely
on the base 3.
5) Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.
6) Press the ON/OFF switch 2 downwards so that it engages.
7) The control lamps integrated into the scale 5 as well as the control lamp in the
ON/OFF switch 2 indicate that the appliance is now heating up.
8) As soon as the water is boiling, the appliance will switch itself off , the
ON/OFF switch 2 clicks upwards and the light goes out.

– to at least the MIN mark, so that the appliance does not overheat,
– to maximum the MAX mark, so that boiling water cannot spill out.

INFORMATION
This appliance is fi tted with an overheating protector: if the appliance is
►
switched on accidentally, without any water in the kettle, the appliance
automatically switches itself off .
If, for example due to a non-closed lid the appliance boils dry, the appliance
switches off automatically.
In such cases fi rst allow the appliance to cool down before using it again.
Cleaning and Care

Before cleaning, ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket!

There is the risk of receiving an electric shock!
► Do not open any part of the housing. There are no user-serviceable ele-
ments inside. An open housing will create the risk of a potentially fatal
electrical shock.
NEVER submerse the appliance in water or other liquids! You could
receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into contact with
live components during operation.

► Let the appliance cool suffi ciently before cleaning it. Risk of Burns!
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning materials. These could attack

the upper surfaces and irreparably damage the appliance.
■ Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cable with a slightly damp cloth.
Be sure to dry the appliance well before taking it back into use. For stubborn
soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure that there are no detergent
residues in and on the appliance before it is taken back into use.
■ Rinse the inside of the kettle out with clean water.
■ If there are any deposits in the kettle, wipe out the inside surface with a moist
cloth, or use a washing up brush or bottle brush. Then rinse the kettle out
with clean water again.

In the event of scale deposits:
Scale deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to increased energy consumption and reduce the service life of the appliance.
Descale the appliance as soon as scale deposits become apparent.
■ Before descaling, remove the scale fi lter insert 6 (see chapter “Inserting/
removing the scale fi lter insert”).
■ Use a descaler designed for household appliances (e.g. for coff ee machines).
Proceed as detailed in the instructions provided for the use of the decalcifying
agent.
■ After descaling, rinse the appliance with lots of clean water.
Inserting/removing the scale fi lter insert
1) Open the lid.
2) Press the tab on the scale fi lter insert 6 slightly downwards and then pull the
scale fi lter insert 6 inwards and downwards so that you can pull it out of its
mounting.
3) Then pull the scale fi lter insert 6 upwards and out of the kettle.
4) Clean the scale fi lter insert 6 with a slightly moistened dishcloth and under
running water.
5) After cleaning, insert the scale fi lter insert 6 again. Ensure that it is sitting
correctly in its mounting, and that the tab has clicked into place.
NOTE
If the scale deposits in the scale fi lter insert 6 have solidifi ed, place the
►
fi lter in a water-vinegar solution at a ratio of 6:1 for a few hours. The scale
deposits will dissolve themselves. Rinse the scale fi lter insert 6 with plenty
of clear water.

Storage
■ Allow the appliance to cool down completely before putting it into storage.
■ Wind the power cable around the cable winder 4 under the base 3.
■ Store the appliance at a dry location.

munity waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of
doubt, consult your local disposal facility.
Notes on the Declaration of Conformity
This appliance complies, in regard to conformance with basic
requirements and other relevent regulations, with the EMV
Directive 2004/108/EC, as well as the Directive for Low
Voltage Devices 2006/95/EC.
The complete original Declaration of Conformity can be
obtained from the importer.
The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. This
appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before
delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim,
please contact our service department by telephone. Only in this way can a
post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
NOTICE

This appliance is intended solely for private domestic use, not for commercial
applications. If this product has been subjected to improper or inappropriate
handling, abuse, or modifi cations not carried out by one of our authorised sales
and service outlets, the warranty will be considered void.
This warranty does not aff ect your statutory rights.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty.
This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase.
Repairs carried out after lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.
