safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all

Safety instructions
DANGER - RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK!
► Ensure that the base with the electrical connections NEVER comes
into contact with water! Allow the base to dry completely if it
accidentally becomes wet.
► Use the kettle only with the supplied base.
► Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp when
the appliance is in use. Route the cable so that it cannot be
trapped or damaged in any way.
► To avoid risks, arrange for defective plugs and/or power cables
to be replaced at once by qualifi ed technicians or our Customer
Service Department.
► ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket after use.
Switching the appliance off is not suffi cient, because the appliance is under power for as long as the plug is connected to the
power socket.
► Check the appliance for externally visible damage before use.
Do not use a damaged appliance or one that has been dropped.
► Have all repairs carried out by authorised specialist companies
or customer service. Incompetent repairs may result in risks for
the user. Warranty claims also become void.
Never submerse the appliance in water or other liquids! You
could receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into
contact with live components during operation.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Keep lid closed when boiling water, otherwise the automatic
switch-off cannot work. Boiling water could then spray out over
the rim.
► Clods of hot steam may be released. The kettle also becomes
extremely hot during use. It is always best to wear oven mitts
when handling the kettle.
► Ensure that the appliance is stable and vertical before switching
it on. Boiling water can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.
► Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
► Appliances may be used by persons with reduced physical, sen-
sory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed how to use
the appliance safely and have understood the potential risks.
► This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or over if
they are supervised or or have been instructed how to use the
appliance safely and have understood the potential risks.
Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not be carried out by
children unless they are aged 8 years or more and are supervised. The appliance and its connecting cable must be kept away
from children younger than 8 years old.
► Children must not play with the appliance.

► Do not use an external timing switch or a separate remote control
system to operate the appliance.
► Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
► Ensure that the appliance, the power cable or the plug do not
come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or open
fl ames.

Preparation
Unpacking
♦ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the box.
♦ Remove all packing material.
WARNING
Risk of suff ocation!
► Packaging material must not be used for playing with. Risk of suff ocation.
Disposal of packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport.
The packaging materials are selected according to their environmental friendliness
and disposal attributes - and are therefore recyclable.
Recirculation of packaging into the material fl ow saves conserves raw materials
and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that
is no longer needed in line with the applicable local regulations.
NOTE
If possible, keep the appliance's original packaging during the warranty
►
period so that, in the event of a warranty claim, you can pack the appliance
properly for its return.
Starting to use the appliance
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Always use nothing but fresh drinking water in the kettle! Do not consume
any water that is not certifi ed as potable. If you do, you are taking a risk
with your health!
Before starting to use the appliance, ensure that ...
– The appliance, power plug and power cord are in proper condition
and ...
– all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance.
1) Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark and let it come to a full
boil once – as described in the next section.
2) After it has boiled, pour this water away.
3) Rinse the kettle 7 out with clean water.

4) Fill the appliance with water once again, up to the MAX mark, and then
bring it to boil. When done, pour this water away also.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Boiling water
RISK - ELECTRIC SHOCK!
NEVER place the electrical base 6 in close proximity to water –Risk of
►
fatal electric shock!
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Always use fresh drinking water. Do not consume any water that has al-
ready stood in the kettle for longer than one hour. Do not reboil water that
has cooled down. Always pour old water away. It may contain germs!
NOTE
Always ensure that the on/off switch 4 is in the "O" position when the
►
mains plug is unplugged and the appliance is standing on the base 6.
If not, the appliance could heat up unintentionally as soon as the mains
plug is plugged in again.
1) Remove the kettle 7 to fi ll it!
2) Open the lid by pulling the release 2 upwards.

When the water is boiling, the appliance switches itself off automatically. The
On/Off switch 4 reverts automatically to the "O" position, the indicator lamp 3
switches off .

NOTE
Hold the kettle 7 upright when fi lling it. This is the only way to read the
►
markings on the scale 5 correctly.
3) Fill the kettle 7...
– to at least the MIN mark, so that the appliance does not overheat,
– no further than the MAX mark, so that boiling water cannot spill out.
4) First close the lid and then place the kettle 7 on the base 6, such that it
stands securely on the base 6.
5) Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.
6) Move the On/Off switch 4 to position "
and the indicator lamp 3 illuminates.

NOTE
If you wish to stop or interrupt the boiling procedure, simply move the
►
On/Off switch 4 back to the "O" position. You can continue the boiling
process, but you must wait for 20 seconds until the heating element has
cooled down. You can then switch the appliance back on.
CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not press the On/Off switch 4 during the cooling phase, since this
►
could result in damage to the appliance.
7) Disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket when not is not in
use, in order to prevent an unintentional activation.
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► For safety reasons you should not open the lid when the water is boiling or
extremely hot. Risk of scalding.
TIPS
This appliance is equipped with an overheating protection: if the appliance is
►
switched on unintentionally without any water in the kettle 7, the appliance
switches itself off automatically.
If the appliance boils dry because the lid has not been closed, for example,
the appliance switches itself off automatically.
In these cases, allow the appliance to cool down before using it again.

Cleaning and care
RISK - ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the plug from the mains power
►
socket! Otherwise there is the risk of receiving an electric shock!
► Never open any housing parts. There are no user-serviceable elements
inside. When the housing is open, there is the risk of receiving a potentially
fatal electrical shock.
NEVER immerse the appliance in water or other liquids! You could
receive a fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into contact with
live components during operation.
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
► Allow the appliance to cool suffi ciently before cleaning it. Risk of burns!
CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents. These can attack the
►
surface and damage the appliance beyond repair.
■ Clean all exterior surfaces with a lightly moistened dishcloth. Always dry
the appliance properly before using it again. For stubborn soiling use a mild
detergent on the cloth. Ensure that there is no detergent residue on or in the
appliance before using it again.
In the event of scale deposits
Scale deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to increased energy
consumption and reduce the service life of the appliance.
Descale the appliance as soon as scale deposits become apparent.
■ Use a descaler that is designed for household appliances (e.g. coff ee
machines). Proceed as described in the descaling agent usage instructions.
■ After descaling, rinse the appliance out with plenty of fresh water.

■ Let the appliance cool down completely before putting it into storage.
■ Wind the power cable around the cable storage beneath the base 6.
■ Store the appliance in a dry location.

appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected meticulously prior to
delivery.

NIEBEZPIECZEŃSTWO PORAŻENIA
PRĄDEM ELEKTRYCZNYM!
► Zadbaj o to, by podstawa z przyłączami elektrycznymi nie miała
nigdy kontaktu z wodą! W wypadku przypadkowego zamoczenia
podstawy należy ją najpierw dokładnie osuszyć.
► Czajnik należy używać wyłącznie z dołączoną do niego podstawą.
► Należy dopilnować, by kabel sieciowy nigdy nie został zawilgocony
lub zamoczony podczas pracy. Kabel układaj w taki sposób,
aby nie został on zakleszczony lub uszkodzony w inny sposób.
► Naprawę uszkodzonej wtyczki lub kabla sieciowego zleć nie-
zwłocznie wykwalifi kowanemu specjaliście lub serwisowi, aby
uniknąć wszlkich zagrożeń.
► Po zakończeniu używania należy zawsze wyciągnąć wtyczkę z
gniazdka. Samo wyłączenie urządzenia nie wystarczy, gdyż jest
ono nadal podłączone do napięcia sieci, dopóki wtyczka sieciowa
znajduje się w gniazdku.
► Przed przystąpieniem do użytkowania sprawdź, czy urządzenie
nie ma żadnych widocznych uszkodzeń zewnętrznych. Nie
uruchamiaj uszkodzonego ani upuszczonego urządzenia.
► Naprawy urządzenia zlecaj wyłącznie autoryzowanym zakładom
lub serwisowi klienta. Nieprawidłowo wykonane naprawy mogą
powodować poważne zagrożenie dla użytkownika. Ponadto
oznacza to utratę gwarancji.

W żadnym razie nie zanurzaj urządzenia w wodzie ani w innej
cieczy! Przedostanie się cieczy na części przewodzące prąd
podczas pracy urządzenia powoduje powstanie zagrożenia dla
życia na skutek porażenia prądem elektrycznym.

OSTRZEŻENIE -
NIEBEZPIECZEŃSTWO ODNIESIENIA OBRAŻEŃ!
► Wodę należy gotować zawsze przy zamkniętej pokrywie, w
przeciwnym wypadku nie działa mechanizm automatycznego
wyłączania. Gotująca się woda może przelewać się poza brzeg
czajnika.
► Z urządzenia może wydobywać się gorąca para. Ponadto czajnik
jest bardzo gorący. Należy stosować rękawice kuchenne.
► Przed włączeniem upewnić się, że urządzenie stoi prosto na
stabilnym podłożu. Gotująca się woda może przewrócić niestabilnie ustawiony czajnik.

Należy zawsze upewnić się, że włącznik/wyłącznik 4 znajduje się w

położeniu „O”, gdy wtyczka sieciowa jest wyjęta z gniazda, a czajnik
znajduje się na podstawie 6. W przeciwnym razie urządzenie zacznie
działać w sposób niezamierzony, gdy wtyczka sieciowa zostanie podłączona do gniazda sieciowego.

Sicherheitshinweise
GEFAHR - ELEKTRISCHER SCHLAG!
► Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Sockel mit den elektrischen Anschlüs-
sen niemals mit Wasser in Berührung kommt! Lassen Sie den Sockel
erst vollständig trocknen, wenn er versehentlich feucht geworden ist.
► Verwenden Sie den Wasserkocher nur mit dem mitgelieferten
Sockel.
► Achten Sie darauf, dass im Betrieb das Netzkabel niemals nass
oder feucht wird. Führen Sie es so, dass es nicht eingeklemmt
oder anderweitig beschädigt werden kann.
► Lassen Sie beschädigte Netzstecker oder Netzkabel sofort von
autorisiertem Fachpersonal oder dem Kundenservice austauschen,
um Gefährdungen zu vermeiden.
► Ziehen Sie nach Gebrauch immer den Stecker aus der Steckdose.
Ausschalten alleine genügt nicht, weil noch immer Netzspannung im Gerät anliegt, solange der Netzstecker in der Steckdose
steckt.
► Kontrollieren Sie das Gerät vor der Verwendung auf äußere sichtbare
Schäden. Nehmen Sie ein beschädigtes oder heruntergefallenes Gerät
nicht in Betrieb.
► Lassen Sie Reparaturen am Gerät nur von autorisierten Fachbe-
trieben oder dem Kundenservice durchführen. Durch unsachgemäße Reparaturen können Gefahren für den Benutzer entstehen.
Zudem erlischt der Garantieanspruch.

Tauchen Sie das Gerät niemals in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten! Hier kann Lebensgefahr durch elektrischen Schlag
entstehen, wenn im Betrieb Flüssigkeitsreste auf spannungsführende
Teile gelangen.

WARNUNG - VERLETZUNGSGEFAHR!
► Erhitzen Sie Wasser immer nur bei geschlossenem Deckel, andern-
falls funktioniert die Abschaltautomatik nicht. Kochendes Wasser
kann dann über den Rand herausspritzen.
► Es können heiße Dampfschwaden entweichen. Die Kanne ist zu-
dem im Betrieb sehr heiß. Tragen Sie daher Topf-Handschuhe.
► Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät stabil und
senkrecht steht, bevor Sie dieses einschalten. Kochendes Wasser
kann ein unstabil stehendes Gerät zum Umstürzen bringen.
► Öff nen Sie nicht den Deckel, während das Wasser kocht.
► Geräte können von Personen mit reduzierten physischen, sensori-
schen oder mentalen Fähigkeiten oder Mangel an Erfahrung und/
oder Wissen benutzt werden, wenn sie beaufsichtigt oder bezüglich des sicheren Gebrauchs des Gerätes unterwiesen wurden und
die daraus resultierenden Gefahren verstanden haben.
► Dieses Gerät kann von Kindern ab 8 Jahren und darüber benutzt
werden, wenn sie beaufsichtigt werden oder bezüglich des

Wasser aufkochen

Bringen Sie niemals den elektrischen Sockel 6 in die Nähe von Wasser –

► Verwenden Sie immer frisches Trinkwasser. Verzehren Sie kein Wasser
welches schon länger als eine Stunde im Wasserkocher gestanden hat.
Kochen Sie kein erkaltetes Wasser erneut auf. Schütten Sie altes Wasser
immer weg. Es können sich Keime bilden!
HINWEIS
Stellen Sie immer sicher, dass der Ein-/Aus-Schalter 4 in der Stellung „O“
►
steht, wenn der Netzstecker gezogen ist und das Gerät auf dem Sockel
6 steht. Ansonsten heizt das Gerät unbeabsichtigt auf, sobald Sie den
Netzstecker mit dem Stromnetz verbinden.
1) Nehmen Sie die Kanne 7 ab zum Befüllen!
2) Öff nen Sie den Deckel, indem Sie die Entriegelung 2 nach oben ziehen.
HINWEIS
Halten Sie beim Befüllen die Kanne 7 senkrecht. Nur dann können Sie die

Skala 5 richtig ablesen.
3) Befüllen Sie die Kanne 7...
– mindestens bis zur MIN-Markierung, damit das Gerät nicht überhitzt,
– maximal bis zur MAX-Markierung, damit kein kochendes Wasser heraus
schwappt.
4) Schließen Sie erst den Deckel und setzen danach die Kanne 7 so auf den
Sockel 6, dass diese fest auf dem Sockel 6 steht.
5) Stecken Sie nun den Netzstecker in die Steckdose.
6) Stellen Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter 4 auf „

Wenn das Wasser kocht, schaltet sich das Gerät automatisch ab. Der Ein/
Aus-Schalter 4 springt automatisch auf „O“-Position, die Indikationsleuchte 3

HINWEIS
Wenn Sie den Kochvorgang stoppen oder unterbrechen wollen, stellen

Sie den Ein/Aus-Schalter 4 einfach auf „O“-Position. Sie können den
Kochvorgang fortsetzen, allerdings müssen Sie 20 Sekunden warten, bis
sich das Heizelement abgekühlt hat. Danach können Sie das Gerät wieder
einschalten.
ACHTUNG - SACHSCHADEN!
Drücken Sie während der Abkühlphase nicht den Ein/Aus-Schalter 4, da

dies eine Beschädigung des Gerätes zur Folge haben kann.
7) Ziehen Sie bei Nichtbenutzung des Gerätes den Stecker aus der Steckdose,
um eine versehentliche Inbetriebnahme auszuschließen.
WARNUNG - VERLETZUNGSGEFAHR!
► Aus Sicherheitsgründen sollten Sie den Deckel nicht öff nen, wenn das
Wasser kocht oder sehr heiß ist. Es besteht die Gefahr von Verbrühungen.
HINWEISE
Dieses Gerät ist mit einem Überhitzungsschutz ausgestattet: wenn das Ge-
►
rät versehentlich eingeschaltet wird, ohne dass sich Wasser in der Kanne
7 befi ndet, schaltet das Gerät sich automatisch aus.
Wenn, zum Beispiel aufgrund eines nicht geschlossenen Deckels, das
Gerät trockenläuft, schaltet sich das Gerät automatisch aus.
Lassen Sie in diesen Fällen das Gerät erst abkühlen, bevor Sie es erneut
verwenden.

Reinigung und Pfl ege

Ziehen Sie vor jeder Reinigung den Netzstecker aus der Netzsteckdose!

► Öff nen Sie niemals irgendwelche Gehäuseteile. Es befi nden sich keinerlei
Bedienelemente darin. Bei geöff netem Gehäuse kann Lebensgefahr bestehen durch elektrischen Schlag.
Tauchen Sie das Gerät niemals in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten!
Hier kann Lebensgefahr durch elektrischen Schlag entstehen, wenn im
Betrieb Flüssigkeitsreste auf spannungsführende Teile gelangen.
WARNUNG - VERLETZUNGSGEFAHR!
► Lassen Sie das Gerät vor der Reinigung abkühlen. Verbrennungsgefahr!
ACHTUNG - SACHSCHADEN!
Benutzen Sie keine scheuernden oder ätzenden Reinigungsmittel. Diese

können die Oberfl äche angreifen und das Gerät irreparabel beschädigen.
■ Reinigen Sie alle Außenfl ächen mit einem leicht angefeuchteten Spültuch.
Trocknen Sie das Gerät auf jeden Fall gut ab, bevor Sie es erneut verwenden. Bei hartnäckigeren Verschmutzungen geben Sie ein mildes Spülmittel
auf das Tuch. Achten Sie darauf, dass sich keine Spülmittelreste am und im
Gerät befi nden, bevor Sie es wieder in Betrieb nehmen.

Bei Kalk-Rückständen
Kalkablagerungen im Gerät führen zu Energieverlusten und beeinträchtigen die
Lebensdauer des Gerätes.
Entkalken Sie das Gerät, sobald sich Kalkablagerungen zeigen.
■ Nehmen Sie einen für Lebensmittelbehälter geeigneten Kalklöser aus dem
Haushaltswarengeschäft (z.B. Kaff eemaschinen-Entkalker). Gehen Sie wie in
der Bedienungsanleitung des Kalklösers beschrieben vor.
■ Reinigen Sie nach dem Entkalken das Gerät mit viel klarem Wasser.
Aufbewahren
■ Lassen Sie das Gerät erst vollständig auskühlen, bevor Sie es wegstellen.
■ Wickeln Sie das Netzkabel um die Kabelaufwicklung unter dem Sockel 6.
■ Lagern Sie das Gerät an einem trockenen Ort.
