“Teppanyaki” is a style of Japanese cuisine.
Traditionally, these meals are prepared directly
on the table using a hot steel plate (“Teppan”).
The possibilities are wide-ranging – pre-cooked
pasta, meat, fi sh, vegetables or dumplings can
be prepared.

to be replaced at once by qualifi ed technicians or our Customer
Service Department.
► Protect the power cable against contact with heated appliance
parts. NEVER use the appliance adjacent to open fl ames, a
hotplate or a heated oven.
► Do not expose the appliance to rain and never use it in a humid
or wet environment. Ensure that the power cable never becomes
wet or moist during operation.
► Before use, check the appliance for visible external damage.
Do not use an appliance that has been damaged or dropped.
► Before using the appliance for the fi rst time and after each cleaning,
check to ensure that the plug contacts on the griddle are dry.
► The power cable must be checked for signs of damage at regular
intervals. If the power cable is damaged, the appliance may no

the temperature regulator. The upper surfaces of the appliance

► To protect the non-stick coating, do not use metallic tools such as
knives, forks, etc. Should the non-stick coating become damaged,
discontinue use of the appliance.

Assembly and setting up

► Never place the appliance underneath wall
cupboards or next to curtains, cupboard
walls or other fl ammable objects.
► Place the appliance only on a heat-resistant
surface.
1) Take all the parts out of the box and remove
the packaging material and any protective
wrapping.
2) Clean all of the components as described in
the section “Cleaning and care”. Ensure that
all parts are completely dry.
3) Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, clean
and level surface. Ensure that you do not
place the appliance directly next to a wall or
a cupboard.
4) Push the fat drip tray 3 into the guide rails on
the underside of the appliance.
5) Push the thermostat 5 into the socket 1 on
the appliance. Ensure that the temperature
regulator 7 is always set to “0” before you
connect the thermostat to the socket 1.
6) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
Before fi rst use
1) Grease the griddle 4 lightly with butter,
margarine or oil which is suitable for baking/
grilling. This allows any cooking residues on
the griddle 4 to be more easily removed.
2) Set the thermostat 5 to level 5 and allow
the appliance to heat up for 5 minutes.
3) After 5 minutes,turn the temperature regulator 7
back to level 0.
4) Then disconnect the plug and allow the appliance to cool down.
NOTE
The fi rst time the appliance heats up a small
►
amount of smoke and smell may be generated, caused by production residues. This
is completely normal and is not dangerous.
Ensure suffi cient ventilation; for example,
open a window.
5) Wipe the griddle 4 with a moist cloth. Ensure
that all parts are completely dry before operating
the appliance.

Once the fat drip tray 3 has been pushed in, the
thermostat 5 has been connected to the socket 1
and the mains plug has been connected to the
power supply:
1) Adjust the temperature regulator 7 to the de-
sired temperature level. The indicator lamp 6
illuminates. When the set temperature has been
reached, the temperature indicator lamp 6
goes out.

NOTE
The indicator lamp 6 illuminates while the

appliance is heating up to the set temperature
level. When the temperature level has been
reached, the indicator lamp 6 goes out.
However, this can always illuminate and go
out again. This indicates that the set temperature has briefl y fallen and the appliance is
heating itself back up.
2) Apply a little vegetable oil to the griddle 4.
NOTE
Excess fat or other fl uids will run into the fat
►
drip tray 3!
3) Place the food to be grilled on the griddle 4.
Turn the food over after a while, as required.
4) Remove the food from the griddle 4 with
the help of heat-resistant plastic or wooden
implements (e.g. a wooden spatula 8) once
it is ready.
5) Turn the thermostat 5 to “0”.
6) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
Cleaning and care

Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect

► Always remove the thermostat 5 from the
socket 1 before cleaning the appliance.

ATTENTION! DAMAGE TO PROPERTY!
Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning

materials. These could damage the surfaces!
■ Use a wooden spatula 8 to push any excess
fat or liquid through the outlet 2 into the fat
drip tray 3. Wipe up any remaining fat using
a kitchen towel.
■ Wipe the griddle 4 with a moist cloth.
NOTE
If any stubborn residue should still adhere to
►
the griddle 4, use a little detergent. After
this, wipe the griddle 4 with clean water.
Ensure that no detergent residues remain on
the griddle 4.
► If you have used detergent to clean the
griddle 4, make sure that you rub it lightly
with oil afterwards!
■ Clean the thermostat 5 with a moist cloth.
For stubborn residues use a mild detergent on
the cloth.
Ensure that the thermostat 5 is completely
dry before operating it again.
■ Clean the wooden spatula 8 and the fat
drip tray 3 in warm water. Add a little mild
detergent.
Rinse all the parts off using clean water. Ensure
that all parts are dry before reusing.
NOTE
The fat drip tray 3 can be cleaned in a
►
dishwasher.
Storage
■ Store the cleaned appliance in a clean, dust-free
and dry location.

Warranty and Service
The warranty provided for this appliance is 3
years from the date of purchase. This appliance
has been manufactured with care and inspected
meticulously prior to delivery. Please retain your
receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a
warranty claim, please contact your Customer
Service by telephone. This is the only way to
guarantee free return of your goods.
The warranty covers only claims for material and
manufacturing defects, not for transport damage,
wearing parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches or batteries. This appliance is
intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes.
The warranty is deemed void if this product has
been subjected to improper or inappropriate handling, abuse or modifi cations that were not carried
out by one of our authorised service centres.
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way
by this warranty.
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs
made under the warranty. This also applies to
replaced and repaired parts. Damage and defects
present at the time of purchase must be reported
immediately after unpacking, or no later than two
days after the date of purchase. Repairs made
after expiry of the warranty period are chargeable.
Disposal
Never dispose of the appliance
in normal domestic waste.
