Safety information
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Connect this appliance only to a properly installed wall
power socket providing electrical energy as specified on the rating plate.
Under no circumstances should the appliance be submersed
in liquids or liquids be allowed to penetrate the housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. If liquid gets into the housing, disconnect the appli­ance from the mains power socket immediately and have it repaired by a qualified technician.
In the event of malfunctions and before you clean the appli-
ance, remove the plug from the mains power socket.
To disconnect the appliance, pull only on the plug itself, not
on the power cable.
Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance, and
protect the cable from being damaged.
To prevent accidents, have defective plugs and/or power
cables replaced immediately by an authorised specialist technician or our Customer Service department.
Do not kink or crush the power cable and route it in such
a way as to prevent people from stepping on it or tripping over it.
Do not use extension cables.Never hold the appliance, the power cable or the power
plug with wet hands.
Disconnect the appliance from the mains power source
immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power ONLY when unplugged.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Do not open the appliance housing or attempt to repair the
appliance yourself. This can lead to risks and also invalidates the warranty. Defective appliances should be repaired by authorized specialists only.
Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or damp
during use. Route the cable in such a way that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
Never use the appliance near water, and keep it away from sinks, baths and other similar containers. The proximity of water is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off. Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket after use. As additional protection, we recommend you install a residual current circuit-breaker with an activation power rating of not more than 30 mA for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.

This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or more
and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised, or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks.
Children must not play with the appliance.Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by
children, unless they are aged 8 or over and are supervised.

Never put down the appliance when it is switched on.
Allow the appliance to cool down before putting it down.
Never leave a switched-on appliance unsupervised.Never place the appliance close to sources of heat, and
protect the power cable against potential damage.
Do not operate the appliance if it has been dropped or is
damaged in any way. Have the appliance checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians if necessary.
The appliance components can get hot during operation.
Therefore, only touch the handle and the switch.
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
NEVER use the appliance to style hairpieces or wigs made
of synthetic material. These can be damaged by the heat!
Style only human hair. Do not use the appliance on animals.

Package contents
The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:

NOTE
Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result of defective
packaging or during transport, contact the Service hotline (see section Service).
Unpacking
Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the
box.
Remove all packaging material.
WARNING! RISK OF SUFFOCATION!
Packaging materials should not be used as a plaything. There is a risk of
suffocation.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport. The pack­aging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable.
Returning the packaging into the material cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging materials which are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.

NOTE
If possible, keep the original packaging of the appliance for the entire
duration of the warranty period so that the appliance can be packed properly for return shipment in the event of a warranty claim.

Before using the appliance ensure that ...
the appliance is in good working condition,
all packaging materials have been removed.
Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth and then dry it well.
Before styling
The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. Special products
which facilitate curling of the hair are excepted.
Comb the hair thoroughly before styling so that there are no knots in it.
Divide the hair into manageable portions and pin the upper portions to the
head with grips so that they do not get in the way.
Operation
Insert the plug into a mains power socket.Reach into the grip recesses  and pull out the heating element  so
that it clicks into place. The indicator lamp  switches on. The appliance heats up. After about 3 minutes, the heating element  has heated up.
Before you start styling, put the protective glove  on the hand that you
are not using to hold the appliance.

Styling
When you have finished styling your hair, pull out the plug and allow the
appliance to cool down completely.
Take off the protective glove .Press the lock switch  and push the heating element  back into the
appliance.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Take care when handling the heated appliance. Do not touch the scalp or
other parts of the body with the hot heating element ! This could cause burns!
When the appliance is heated-up:
1) Put the protective glove on the hand that you are not using to hold the
appliance to protect your hand from the hot heating element .
2) Take a lock of hair and start winding it onto the heating element from the
root to the tip.
3) Wait in this position around 5–10 seconds, depending on the properties of
the hair, and then unwind the lock of hair from the heating element .
4) Proceed with the other strands in the same way.
5) Allow the curls to cool down before you continue styling the hair.
NOTE
If you want to put down the appliance at any time during use, let it cool down first.
Cleaning and care
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Before cleaning the appliance, always pull out the plug from the mains
power socket. There is a risk of electric shock!

Allow the appliance to cool fully before cleaning it. Risk of burns!
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use any aggressive, abrasive or chemical cleaning agents!
These could damage the upper surfaces of the appliance.
Clean the appliance only with a lightly moistened cloth.
