Proper Use

This Ultra-Violet Insect Lamp is intended for use in
attracting and killing insects. This appliance is inten­ded only for indoor domestic use.
Do not use it for commercial or industrial applications.
Do not use it outdoors.

Safety Instructions

• Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables
to be replaced at once by qualified technicians
or our Customer Service Department.

• This aplliance is suitable for indoor use only. Do
not use it in barns, stables or similar locations.

Danger: High Voltage!

NEVER touch the high voltage mesh! Risk of electric
shock!

Information regarding the handling
of batteries

When handling batteries, please observe the
following:

Risk of injury

• This appliance is not intended for use by individuals
(including children) with restricted physical, physio­logical or intellectual abilities or deficiences in
experience and/or knowledge unless they are
supervised by a person responsible for their safety
or receive from this person instruction in how the
appliance is to be used.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.

• Do not operate the appliance close to highly
inflammable or explosive materials or objects.

• Do not attempt to make contact with the high vol­tage mesh. NEVER insert your fingers or other
objects through the high voltage mesh.

• After use or during extended absences, ALWAYS
remove the power transformer from the mains
power socket. For as long as the plug is inserted
into the mains power socket the appliance itself
is under electrical power.

• Ensure that the mains power plug is at all times
easily accessible, so that it can be quickly and
easily removed in the event of potential danger.

• Place the power cable such that no one can trip
on or stumble over it.

• Do not throw batteries into a fire. Do not recharge
batteries. The risk of explosions and injuries
exists!

• Never open batteries, never solder or weld bat­teries. The risk of explosions and injuries exists!

• Regularly check the condition of the batteries.
Leaking batteries can cause damage to the ap­pliance.

• If you do not intend to use the appliance for an
extended period, remove the batteries.

• In the event of the batteries leaking acids, put on
a pair of protective gloves. Then clean the bat­tery compartment and the battery contacts with
a dry cloth.

• Keep batteries well away from children. Children
can put batteries into their mouths and swallow
them. If a battery is swallowed, medical assistance
must be sought IMMEDIATELY.

Commissioning

Battery operation

The Ultra-Violet Insect Lamp requires 4 x 1.5 V batte­ries of the type D/Mono/LR20, which are already in­serted in the battery compartment 5 on delivery.
To protect against premature discharge, the battery
terminals are provided with insulating strips which
must be removed before use.

1. Loosen the locking device 7 on the battery
compartment 6 and slide it in the direction of
the arrow out of the retainer tracks.

2. Pull the battery holder 5 out of the battery com­partment. Take care not not to pull on the con­necting cable 4.

3. Remove the plastic strips from the battery compart­ment 5.

4. Replace the battery holder 5 into the battery
compartment so that it runs into the retainer tracks.
Ensure that the connector cable 4 does not be-
come trapped.

5. Slide the battery compartment lid 6 into the
retainer tracks until the snap tab engages hearable
when the lid is closed.

Mains power operation

1. Insert the plug of the power transformer into the
power transformer socket 3.

2. Connect the power transformer with a mains
power socket.

Using the appliance

Mode of operation

Undesirable insects, such as mosquitoes and midges,
are attracted to the UV light. They fly to it and then
make contact with the high voltage mesh 2, which
kills them quickly.

1. Place the appliance as close as possible to your
seating, on a level and dry surface.

Note:

Do not use the appliance outdoors, as it could then
also attract and kill insects beneficial to the environ­ment.
Do not place the appliance in a draught – flying
insects doo not collect there!

2. Switch the appliance on with the On/Off switch 1.
The UV tube glows, the high voltage mesh 2 is
now carrying power.

3. Insects that now make contact with the high
voltage mesh 2 are killed.

4. When you no longer wish to use the appliance,
switch it off with the On/Off switch 1.

5. Remove the dead insects by tipping the appliance
and shaking it lightly.

Note:

Should you intend to not use the appliance for an
extended period, over the winter for example, remove
the batteries. If you do not, the batteries could leak
and then cause irreparable damage to the appliance.
In the event of the batteries leaking acids, first put on
a pair of protective gloves. Then clean the battery
compartment and the battery contacts with a dry
cloth.

Important!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you use a
screwdriver or any other type of metallic object to
clean the high voltage mesh 2. These could irrepar­ably damage the appliance!

Clean the housing with a lightly moistened cloth. For
stubborn soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth.

Should the UV light tube become defective, obtain
a replacement from a specialist electrical shop or
from our service partner.

Disposal

Do not dispose of the appliance in your
normal domestic waste. This product is
subject to the provisions of European
Directive 2002/96/EC.

Dispose of the appliance through an approved dis­posal centre or at your community waste facility.
Observe the currently applicable regulations.
In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal
centre.

Cleaning, care and maintenance

Risk of electric shock!

Before cleaning the appliance, ALWAYS remove the
plug from the mains power socket.
Always remove the batteries before cleaning the
appliance!

• After every use, always tip and shake the appliance
a little, so that dead insects can removed from it.

• Should insects be caught up in the high voltage
mesh 2, remove them with a wooden stick or
similar.

Disposal of batteries/accumulators

Used batteries/rechargeable batteries may not be
disposed of in household waste. Every consumer
is statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at a
collection site of his community/city district or at
a retail store.
The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batte­ries are disposed of in a non-polluting manner. Only
dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged.

Dispose of all packaging materials in an
environmentally friendly manner.

Warranty & Service

The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from
the date of purchase. The appliance has been ma­nufactured with care and meticulously examined be­fore delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, please
make contact by telephone with our Service Depart­ment. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for
your goods be assured.

The warranty covers only claims for material and
maufacturing defects, but not for transport damage,
for wearing parts or for damage to fragile compo­nents, e.g. buttons or batteries. This product is for
private use only and is not intended for commercial
use. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and
improper handling, use of force and internal tampe­ring not carried out by our authorized service
branch. Your statutory rights are not restricted in
any way by this warranty.
The warranty period will not be extended by repairs
made under warranty. This applies also to replaced
and repaired parts. Any damage and defects extant
on purchase must be reported immediately after un­packing the appliance, at the latest, two days after
the purchase date. Repairs made after the expira­tion of the warranty period are subject to payment.

Ohjeita paristojen käsittelyyn

Huomaa paristojen käsittelystä seuraavaa:

• Älä heitä paristoja tuleen. Älä lataa paristoja
uudelleen. On olemassa räjähdyksen ja louk­kaantumisen vaara!

• Älä koskaan avaa paristoja, älä koskaan juota
tai hitsaa paristoja. On olemassa räjähdyksen
ja loukkaantumisen vaara!

• Tarkasta paristot säännöllisesti. Vuotavat paristot
saattavat aiheuttaa laitevaurioita.

• Jos et käytä laitetta pidempään, poista paristot.

• Käytä suojakäsineitä paristojen vuotaessa. Puhdis­ta paristokotelo ja paristoliitännät kuivalla liinalla.

• Paristoja ei saa jättää lasten käsiin. Lapset saat­tavat pistää paristot suuhunsa ja niellä ne. Jos
paristo on joutunut nieluun, on hakeuduttava
välittömästi lääkärin hoitoon.

Laitteen kuvaus

Käyttöönotto

Paristokäyttö

Hyönteisansa tarvitsee 4 x 1,5 V:n paristoa tyyppiä
D/Mono/LR20, jotka on jo toimitettaessa asetettu
paristokoteloon 5.
Suojaksi ennenaikaista latauksen purkautumista va­staan paristojen navat on varustettu eristysliuskalla,
joka on poistettava ennen käyttöä.

1. Avaa lukitus 7 paristokotelon kannesta 6 ja
työnnä kantta nuolen suuntaan. Vedä paristoko­telon kansi irti kiskosta.

2. Vedä paristopidike 5 ulos paristokotelosta.
Varmista, ettet vedä liitosjohtoa 4.

3. Poista eristysliuska paristopidikkeestä 5.

4. Aseta paristopidike 5 paristokoteloon niin, että
se kulkee kiskoilla. Varmista, ettei liitosjohto 4
jää puristuksiin.

5. Työnnä paristokotelon kansi 6 kiskoihin niin,
että lukitusnokka lukittuu paikoilleen, kun kansi
on kiinni.

Verkkolaitekäyttö

1. Liitä verkkolaitteen pistoke verkkolaiteliitäntään 3.

2. Liitä verkkolaite verkkopistorasiaan.

Laitteen käyttö

Toimintatapa

Ultraviolettivalo houkuttelee epätoivotut hyönteiset,
kuten hyttyset tai mäkäräiset puoleensa. Ne lentävät
kohti valoa ja koskettavat tällöin korkeajänniteristikkoa
2, joka tappaa ne nopeasti.

1. Aseta laite mahdollisimman lähelle istumapaikkaa,
tasaiselle ja kuivalle alustalle.
