Battery Installation

Remove the battery cover on the rear of the remote control, and insert a R03 (size AAA) battery with 4and 5matched correctly.

Connecting to Your TV

If you have a HDMITV or monitor, you can connect it to this player using a HDMI cable (Type A, High Speed HDMI™ Cable). Connect the HDMI (HDMI OUTTO TV) jack on the player to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatibleTV or monitor.

Additional Information for HDMI

yy When you connect a HDMI or DVI compatible device make sure of the following:

-- Try switching off the HDMI/DVI device and this player. Next, switch on the HDMI/DVI device and leave it for around 30 seconds, then switch on this player.

-- The connected device’s video input is set correctly for this unit.

-- The connected device is compatible with 720 x 576p (or 480p), 1280 x 720p,

1920 x 1080i, 1920 x 1080p, 3840 x 2160P video input

yy Not all HDCP-compatible HDMI or DVI devices will work with this player.

-- The picture will not be displayed properly with non-HDCP device.

,,Note

yy If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the player, the HDMI device’s audio sound may be distorted or may not output.

yy When you use HDMI connection, you can change the resolution for the HDMI output. (Refer to “Resolution Setting” on page 11)

yy Select the type of video output from the HDMI OUT jack using [HDMI Color Setting] option on the [Settings] menu (see page

20).

yy Changing the resolution when the connection has already been established may result in malfunctions.To solve the problem, turn off the player and then turn it on again.

yy When the HDMI connection with HDCP is not verified,TV screen is changed to black screen. In this case, check the HDMI connection, or disconnect the HDMI cable.

yy If there are noises or lines on the screen, please check the HDMI cable (length is generally limited to 4.5 m, 14.76 feet).

About HDR (High Dynamic Range)

This player supports the HDR function. High Dynamic Range is a technique used in imaging to reproduce a greater dynamic range of luminosity than is possible with conventional imaging devices.

yy Make sure yourTV supports the HDR function.

yy Connect an HDMI cable (Type A, High Speed HDMI™ Cable) between the player’s HDMI output andTV’s HDMI input.

yy Activate the HDR related function on yourTV’s menu. For further information, refer to theTV’s user manual.

What is SIMPLINK?

Some functions of this unit are controlled by the TV’s remote control when this unit and LGTV’s with SIMPLINK are connected through HDMI connection.

Controllable functions by LGTV’s remote control; Play, Pause, Scan, Skip, Stop, Power Off, etc.

Refer to theTV owner’s manual for the details of SIMPLINK function.

LGTV’s with SIMPLINK function has the logo as shown above.

Depending on the disc type or playing status, some SIMPLINK operation may differ from your purpose or not work.

5.Use w/sto select the desired resolution then press ENTER (b) to confirm your selection.

,,Note

yy If yourTV does not accept the resolution you have set on the player, you can set resolution to 480p as follows:

1.Press Bto open the disc tray.

2.Press Z(STOP) for more than 5 seconds.

yy If you select a resolution manually and then connect the HDMI jack toTV and yourTV does not accept it, the resolution setting is set to [Auto].

yy If you select a resolution that yourTV does not accept, the warning message will appear. After resolution change, if you cannot see the screen, please wait 20 seconds and the resolution will automatically revert back to the previous resolution.

yy The 1080p or 2160p video output frame rate may be automatically set to either 24 Hz or 60 Hz depending both on the capability and preference of the connectedTV and based on the native video frame rate of the content on the BD-ROM disc.

Resolution Setting

The player provides several output resolutions for HDMI OUT jack. You can change the resolution using [Settings] menu.

3.Use w/sto select [DISPLAY] option then press dto move to the second level.

4.Use w/sto select the [Resolution] option then press ENTER (b) to move to the third level.

Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment.

A digital multi-channel connection provides the best sound quality. For this, you need a multi-channel Audio/Video Receiver that supports one or more of the audio formats supported by your player. Check the logos on the front of the Audio/Video receiver and the manual. (PCM Stereo, PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DolbyTrueHD, DTS and/or DTS-

Connecting to an Amplifier via HDMI Output

Connect the player’s HDMI OUT (HDMI OUTTOTV) jack to the corresponding in jack on your amplifier using a HDMI cable.

Connect the amplifier’s HDMI output jack to HDMI input jack on yourTV using a HDMI cable if your amplifier has HDMI output jack. (Refer to amplifier’s owner’s manual.)

Connecting to your

Home Network Broadband

service

This player can be connected to a local area network (LAN) via the LAN port on the rear panel.

By connecting the unit to a broadband home network, you have access to services such as software updates, and BD-Live interactivity.

Wired Network Connection

Router

 

Using a wired network provides the best performance, because the attached devices connect directly to the network and are not subject to radio frequency interference.

Please refer to the documentation for your network device for further instructions.

Connect the player’s LAN port to the corresponding port on your Modem or Router using a commercially available LAN or Ethernet cable.

,,Note

yy When plugging or unplugging the LAN cable, hold the plug portion of the cable. When unplugging, do not pull on the LAN cable but unplug while pressing down on the lock.

yy Do not connect a modular phone cable to the LAN port.

yy Since there are various connection configurations, please follow the specifications of your telecommunication carrier or internet service provider.

Wired Network Setup

If there is a DHCP server on the local area network (LAN) via wired connection, this player will automatically be allocated anIP address. After making the physical connection, a small number of home networks may require the player’s network setting to be adjusted. Adjust the [NETWORK] setting as follow.

Preparation

Before setting the wired network, you need to connect the broadband internet to your home network.

1.Select [Connection Setting] option in the [Settings] menu then press ENTER (b).

2.Read the preparations for the network settings and then press ENTER (b) while [Start] is highlighted.

Network will automatically be connected to the unit.

2.Select [Next] and press ENTER (b) to apply network settings.

Network connection status is displayed on the screen.

3.Press ENTER (b) while [OK] is highlighted to finish the wired network settings.

Advanced Setting

If you want to set the network settings manually, use w/sto select [Advanced Setting] on the [Network Setting] menu and press ENTER (b).

1.Use w/s/a/dto select theIP mode between [Dynamic] and [Static].

Normally, select [Dynamic] to allocate anIP address automatically.

If there is no DHCP server on the network and you want to set theIP address manually, select [Static] then set [IP Address], [Subnet Mask], [Gateway] and [DNS Server] using w/s/a/dand numerical buttons.
