Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the DCS-1201 HD Modular Network Camera. The DCS-1201 is a professional surveillance
and security solution for small, medium, and large enterprises alike. It provides an excellent way to discreetly keep watch over
an area without sacricing quality or functionality.
The DCS-1201 is a complete system with a built-in CPU and incorporates a web server, allowing it to transmit excellent real-time
HD resolution video for security and outdoor surveillance. It incorporates Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing it to be easily
installed in a variety of locations without the need for supplemental power cabling. It also includes audio in and out jacks,
DI/DO connectors, and a microSD slot, making it an extremely versatile surveillance solution.
The DCS-1201 can be accessed remotely, controlled and congured from any PC/Notebook over your local network or through
the Internet via a web browser. The simple installation and intuitive web-based interface oer easy conguration across the
full range of its advanced feature set, including granular control over multiple video streams with dierent congurations and
multicast video streams which helps you manage your network load.

Remote Monitoring Utility
The D-ViewCam application adds enhanced features and functionality for the Network Camera and allows administrators to
congure and access the Network Camera from a remote site via Intranet or Internet. Other features include image monitoring,
recording images to a hard drive, viewing up to 32 cameras on one screen, and taking snapshots.

Connecting the Camera
Connect the camera cable to the CAM port on the control box.
You can power the DCS-1201 three dierent ways: through PoE, through the
power terminal, or through a power adapter.
Powering the camera through PoE (Class 2):
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN (PoE) port on the control box. Connect the
other end of the cable to your PoE switch or PoE injector.

Powering the camera through the power terminal:
Connect your power source to the power terminal on the control box. The
specications for the power terminal are as shown below.
Pin + : 8-28 V DC input
Pin - : Ground
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN (PoE) port on the control box. Connect the
other end of the cable to your network.
Powering the camera through a power adapter (not included):
Connect a 12 V 1.5 A power adapter to the power connector of the control box.
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN (PoE) port on the control box. Connect the
other end of the cable to your network.

Conguring the Camera
Step 1
Insert the DCS-1201 CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Click Setup Wizard
and follow the instructions to install the Setup Wizard.
If the Autorun function on your computer is disabled, or if the D-Link Launcher
fails to start automatically, click the Start button and type D:\autorun.exe (where
D: represents the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive) and press Enter.
Step 2
Click on the D-Link Setup Wizard SE icon that was created in your Windows
Start menu (Start > D-Link > Setup Wizard SE).

Step 3
The Setup Wizard will appear and display the MAC address and IP address of your
camera(s). If you have a DHCP server on your network, a valid IP Address will be
displayed. If your network does not use a DHCP server, the network camera's
default static IP 192.168.0.20 will be displayed.
Select your camera, then click the Wizard button to continue.
Step 4
Enter the Admin ID and password. When logging in for the rst time, the default
Admin ID is admin with the password left blank.
Click the checkboxes if you wish to change the admin ID and password for the
camera, and enter the new ID and password you wish to use.
Click Next to continue.

Step 5
Select DHCP if your camera obtains an IP address automatically from a DHCP
server such as a router. Select Static IP if you want to manually enter the IP
settings for the camera.
Click Next to continue.

Take a moment to conrm your settings and click Restart.

Mounting the Camera
It is highly recommended that you congure and test your camera before mounting it.
Mounting directly on a wall/ceiling
Use the included screws to mount the camera in the desired location, then attach the camera cover.
Mounting using the flat mounting bracket
Drill a hole 9 mm in diameter in the wall/ceiling, which should be no more than 5 mm thick. Peel o the adhesive backing on
the at mounting bracket and attach it to the inside of the wall/ceiling. Insert the camera, and use the screw and washer to
secure the camera in the mounting bracket as shown.

Mounting using the angled mounting bracket
Attach the angled mounting bracket to the wall/ceiling using the included screw. Attach the camera to the angled mounting
bracket with the included screws as shown. You can adjust the pivot of the angled mounting bracket by using the included
hex wrench.
Mounting the control box
Use 4 screws to attach the mounting plates to the control box, then use 2 screws to mount the control box in the desired location.

Conguration
Using the Conguration Interface
After completing the Setup Wizard, you are ready to use your camera. The camera’s built-in Web conguration utility is designed
to allow you to easily access and congure your DCS-1201. At the end of the wizard, click Link, or enter the IP address of your
camera into a web browser, such as Firefox. To log in, use the User name admin and the password you created in the Installation
Wizard. If you did not create a password, the default password is blank. After entering your password, click OK.
Step 1
Click on the D-Link Setup Wizard SE icon that was created in your Windows Start
menu (Start > D-Link > Setup Wizard SE).
Step 2
Select the camera and click Link to access the web conguration.
The Setup Wizard will automatically open your web browser to the IP address of
the camera.

Enter admin as the default username and leave the password blank. Click OK to

This section displays your camera’s live video. You can select your video prole
and view or operate the camera.

This section shows your camera’s live video. You may select any of the available icons listed below to operate the camera. You may also select your
language using the drop-down menu on the left side of the screen.
You can zoom in and out on the live video image using your mouse. Right-click to zoom out or left-click to zoom in on the image.

Auto PanStarts the automatic panning function. The ROI will pan from

This indicator will change color when a digital input signal is
detected.

Setup
Setup Wizard
To congure your Network Camera, click Internet Connection Setup Wizard. Alternatively,
you may click Manual Internet Connection Setup to manually congure your Network
Camera and skip to "Network Setup" on page 26.
To quickly congure your Network Camera’s motion detection settings, click Motion
Detection Setup Wizard. If you want to enter your settings without running the wizard, click
Manual Motion Detection Setup and skip to"Motion Detection" on page 37.

Internet Connection Setup Wizard
This wizard will guide you through a step-by-step process to congure your new D-Link
Camera and connect the camera to the internet. Click Next to continue.
Select how the camera will connect to the Internet.
If your camera is connected to a router, or if you are unsure how your camera will
connect to the Internet, select DHCP Connection.
Select Static IP if your Internet Service Provider has provided you with connection settings, or
if you wish to set a static address within your home network. Enter the correct conguration
information and click Next to continue.
If you are using PPPoE, select Enable PPPoE and enter your user name and password.
Click Next to continue.

If you have a Dynamic DNS account and would like the camera to update your IP address
automatically, Select Enable DDNS and enter your host information. Click Next to continue.
Enter a name for your camera and click Next to continue.
Congure the correct time to ensure that all events will be triggered as scheduled. Click Next
to continue.
If you have selected DHCP, you will see a summary of your settings, including the camera's IP
address. Please write down all of this information as you will need it in order to access your
camera.
Click Apply to save your settings.
