Power Supply
Use only the supplied AC adapter to power the Xoro DAB100. Observe the information on the rating plate of the power supply unit.
Note:
The power supply delivers a stabilized DC voltage of 5V. Operating with a non-stabilized voltage can damage the device. Only the supplied power supply guarantees safe operation and compliance with all regulations and standards. The power supply is suitable for a mains voltage of 100-240 V and can therefore be used in almost all AC-based power grids. Note that this may require a country-specific adapter. In the case of multiple sockets, make sure that the connected loads do not exceed the permissible total power consumption. Disconnect the product from the mains if you are not going to use it for a long time.
For mobile use, you can alternatively use batteries for the power supply of the device. Please read
the notes on page 2 of this manual.

Antenna
Disconnect the telescopic antenna installed on the device from the holder and pull out the antenna. For the initial setup and the associated station search, it is recommended to position the radio at a window or outdoors. Later, you can position the radio in the living room and use the antenna to produce the most optimal reception.
Note:
For best reception performance, please note that the antenna should be fully extended. If necessary, you should test different locations to get the best possible reception.
Off / on, standby mode
The device has a power switch on the back. With this switch, you can switch the device completely de-energized, possibly also to improve the battery life of the inserted batteries.
If the device is switched on at the power switch, you can put the device in the operating mode or put it in standby mode by long pressing the power button on the top side.
In standby mode, the backlight is turned off and the date and time are displayed. By briefly tapping on the power button, the display lighting is switched on for 5 seconds, to be able to read the time in the dark, for example.
Note:
If you would like to use the alarm / alarm function, the device must be in standby mode. In completely de-energized state no alarm / alarm function is possible! In battery operation, the StandBy function can affect the life of the batteries. If you do not use the device for a longer time, it is recommended to completely switch off the device by means of the backside mains switch!
Initial installation
When commissioning for the first time or after a factory reset (page 7), the device automatically guides you through the initial installation. If necessary, switch on the device at the main switch on the back and press the power button on the top until the device starts and the backlight is activated. The unit now performs an automatic DAB + station search and starts on the first found radio station with the playback. During the search, the display on the right side will show you the radio stations already found. The progress bar in the bottom page shows you how far the search has progressed.
Note:
For the initial setup and the associated station search, it is recommended to position the radio at a window or outdoors. Later, you can position the radio in the living room and make the best possible reception with the antenna. If you do not have DAB + reception in your environment, switch the device to the "FM" operating mode (page 5) after the initial setup and carry out a station search there (page 6).

Operation Mode
The device has two ways to receive radio programs. After the initial setup (page 4), you can switch between the reception options using the DAB + / FM button on the front panel.
FM radio
Worldwide VHF band II radio operates between 87.5 MHz and 108.0 MHz. In some countries only parts of it are used. Only Japan and some countries of the former Eastern Bloc, as well as Brazil in future, sometimes use other frequency bands.
The Radio Data S ystem (RDS) translates additional information into radio broadcasting. The unit supports station-dependent display of the radio station name and advanced broadcast information on the display.
DAB + radio
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a digital broadcasting standard for terrestrial digital radio reception. It is suitable for the frequency range from 30 MHz to 3 GHz. DAB was developed in the Eureka 147 project of the EU in the years 1987-2000. Receiving stations using HE AAC + V2 coding is only possible with DAB + receivers. The name "DAB +" was invented by WorldDMB with the aim of distinguishing the receivers that can also decode HE AAC + V2 in addition to the MPEG-1 Layer 2. However, this is a pure marketing name that is not part of the standard. All devices available since November 2011 that can receive DAB + are backward compatible and can also receive DAB broadcasts using the current procedure (MPEG-1 Layer 2).
DAB is available in more than 40 countries, reaching about 500 million people from DAB broadcasters. In most European countries, such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark and the United Kingdom, DAB is almost universally available. In France, it is currently only available in individual islands of reception around Paris and Lyon, as well as in the Netherlands. In Italy, private broadcasters in particular are pushing ahead with DAB expansion in northern Italy. In Austria, on the other hand, the trial operation, which has been running since 2000, was discontinued in 2008. From May 28, 2015 until March 31, 2016, a new pilot operation of DAB + will be taking place in the Vienna area. In Canada, by 2011, some metropolitan areas were served in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. The unit supports station-dependent display of the radio station name and advanced broadcast information on the display.
