2.3 On-site installation
59 06 404 D 3390 D 3390.201.01.18.02
11
2.3 On-site installation
The on-site installation must have been performed according to our requirements. The details are described in the document "Installation Requirements".
2.4 Installing the treatment center
Installation must be carried out by authorized technicians in accordance with the installation instructions.
2.5 Media quality
The air and water supplies must meet the requirements specified in the installation conditions.
To ensure compliance with the medical and national legal requirements for water from treatment centers, Sirona recommends equipping the treatment center with a disinfection system. If you decide to operate the treatment center without a disinfection system, you must make alternative arrangements to ensure good water quality.
As the owner of the treatment center, you are generally responsible for the water quality.
The colony count must fulfill the national regulations for drinking water and must not exceed 500 CFU/ml under any circumstances (CFU: colony forming unit).
In the event of an increased colony count, the indoor installation must be checked and the cause of contamination eliminated. Alternatively, a stand-alone water supply can also be installed.
Before installation of the treatment center, an acceptable microbiological water quality for the domestic water supply must be ensured and documented in the form of a colony count. Sampling and the colony count must be performed by a competent laboratory.
Check the treatment center water quality at regular intervals; see "Microbiological inspection of the water" in the document "Care and Cleaning by the Practice Team". Please contact your specialized dealer or your relevant dental association for the respective national requirements and measures. Where necessary, you must make alternative arrangements to ensure good water quality if you decide to operate the treatment center without a disinfection system.
Further information on the media quality requirements are listed in the "Installation conditions" document.
Highly immunosuppressed patients should not come in contact with water from the treatment center. The use of sterile solutions is recommended.

59 06 404 D 3390
12 D 3390.201.01.18.02
2.6 Connection to the public drinking water system
Connection to the publ ic drinking water system
Free discharge for opti on without disinfe ction system
Treatment center with separation of the public drinking water supply
Provided it is equipped with a disinfection system, the treatment center fulfills the requirements of EN 1717 (free outlet with sections 20 mm) and the German Gas and Water Association (DVGW). It is intrinsically safe in accordance with worksheet W540 and therefore also fulfills the W270 requirements as well as the requirements for plastics used in the transport of drinking water. It can be connected directly to the public drinking water system.
The treatment center therefore also bears the symbol for the German Gas and Water Association (DVGW) along with the rating plate.
Treatment center without separation to the public drinking water supply
If compliance with EN 1717 is stipulated at a national level, appropriate equipment must be installed beyond the treatment center to protect the public drinking water system.
This applies to device versions without a disinfection system.
The treatment center then does not bear the symbol for the German Gas and Water Association (DVGW).
Please always adhere to the national requirements with regard to connecting treatment centers to the public drinking water supply.
2.7 Maintenance and repair
Maintenance and repair
Authorized technical personnel and spare parts
As manufacturers of dental medical units and in the interest of the operational safety of your system, we stress the importance of having maintenance and repair of this unit performed only by ourselves or by agencies expressly authorized by us. Furthermore, failed components must always be replaced with original spare parts.
We suggest that you request a certificate showing the nature and extent of the work performed from those who carry out such work; it must contain any changes in rated parameters or working ranges (if applicable), as well as the date, the name of the company and a signature.
Maintenance intervals
Despite the outstanding quality of your treatment center and regular care by the practice team, in the interest of operational safety, it is essential to have preventive maintenance performed at scheduled intervals.

2.8 Trouble-free operation
59 06 404 D 3390 D 3390.201.01.18.02
13
In order to ensure the operational safety and reliability of your treatment center and to avoid damage due to natural wear, you as the system owner must have your system checked regularly by an authorized service engineer from your dental depot. Furthermore, safety checks must be performed. Please contact your dental depot to obtain a maintenance offer. For further information, see "Maintenance" on page 117.
2.8 Trouble-free operation
Trouble-free operation
Use of this unit is permissible only if it works properly without malfunctions. If trouble-free operation cannot be ensured, the unit must be taken out of service, checked by authorized technicians for malfunctions and, if necessary, repaired.
2.9 Vacuum system
The suction removal of aluminum and other metal oxides from blasting devices via the amalgam separator and the automatic separator installed in the treatment center is prohibited! This would cause extreme wear and clogging of the suction and water paths.
A separate vacuum system must be used in connection with metal oxide blasting devices. Treatment centers equipped with a central wet suction system are generally suitable for suction removal of the above material. However, make sure to observe the instructions provided by the manufacturer of your vacuum system.
No restrictions apply when using salt blasting devices in connection with Sirona treatment centers. However, in such cases, make sure that the system is subsequently flushed with an adequate amount of water.
2.10 Patient chair
Patient chair
Please observe the patient chair's maximum load capacity of 135 kg.
The weight distribution complies with ISO 6875. The mechanical stability test is performed with a multiple safety factor according to IEC 60601-1.
The maximum permissible weight of accessories mounted on the patient chair is 5 kg.
The patient’s arms and legs must be resting on the upholstery of the chair.
2.11 Ventilation slots
Ventilation slots
Under no circumstances may the ventilation slots on the unit be covered, since otherwise the air circulation will be obstructed. This can cause the unit to overheat.

2.12 Intermittent operation C3
+
59 06 404 D 3390
14 D 3390.201.01.18.02
Do not spray liquids such as disinfectants into the ventilation slots. This may lead to malfunctions. Use only wipe disinfection in the vicinity of the ventilation slots.
2.12 Intermittent operation
Intermittent operation
The motors of the treatment center and of the treatment instruments are designed for intermittent operation corresponding to the dental mode of treatment.
Drive motors for patient chair and backrest: max. 6% duty cycle (15 s "ON"/3 min, 55 s "OFF")
Other motors: Intermittent operation, max. 10% duty cycle (max. 2 min "ON"/18 min "OFF")
2.13 Care, cleaning agents, and disinfectants
Unsuitable care and cleaning agents and disinfectants may corrode the surface of the unit or impair its functioning.
Therefore, use only care and cleaning agents and disinfectants which have been approved by Sirona. For further information, see the document "Care, cleaning agents, and disinfectants", REF 59 70 905.
2.14 Modifications and extensions of the system
Modifications and exte nsions of the sys tem
Modifications to this system which might affect the safety of the system owner, patients or other persons are prohibited by law.
For reasons of product safety, this product may be operated only with original Sirona accessories or third-party accessories expressly approved by Sirona. The user is responsible for any damage resulting from the use of non-approved accessories.
If any devices not approved by Sirona are connected, they must comply with the applicable standards, e.g.:
IEC 60950-1 for information technology equipment
(e.g. PC) and
IEC 60601-1 for medical electrical equipment.
The treatment center monitor must fulfill the requirements of the IEC 60950-1 standard.
The loudspeaker port of the monitor may only be connected to a device that complies with IEC 60950-1 (e.g. a PC) or IEC 60601-1. Under no circumstances may it be connected to a stereo system or similar.
Sirona Dental Systems GmbH 2 Safety instructions C3
+
2.15 Electromagnetic compatibility
59 06 404 D 3390 D 3390.201.01.18.02
15
If a system is created during the installation process, the requirements of IEC 60601-1, 3rd edition, must be fulfilled. The system author assumes responsibility for conformity of the system with 93/42/EEC Directive.
2.15 Electromagnetic compatibility
Medical electrical equipment is subject to special precautionary measures with regard to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). They must be installed and operated as specified in the document "Installation Requirements".
Portable and mobile RF communications equipment may interfere with medical electrical equipment. Therefore, the use of such devices (e.g. cellular phones) in practice or hospital environments must be prohibited.
Operating an RF surgical device
Treatment with RF surgical devices creates strong electromagnetic fields, which may impact other electronic devices. Do not place external RF surgical devices on the shelf space of the treatment center and do not guide the RF handpiece cable over this. Electromagnetic disturbances can often be reduced, if the external RF surgical device is operated with a neutral electrode.
Video system
Electromagnetic disturbances in the environment of the treatment center may result in reduced image quality. In such cases, it is advisable to repeat the exposure before saving the image.
In case of line voltage drops, image data stored in the video camera may be lost. Deposit the camera and repeat the exposure.
Image artifacts may possibly occur as a result of radio-frequency interference caused by the transmitters of e.g. radio services or radio amateurs.
Wireless foot control
The wireless foot control may interfere with other devices in the same frequency band (2.4 GHz) or receive interfering signals from them. The safe condition of the treatment center is guaranteed even if the wireless transmission is compromised.
2.16 Influencing of cardiac pacemakers
The treatment center contains strong magnets. These magnets can affect cardiac pacemakers implanted in patients, users and technical personnel.
Therefore, please observe the safety information on pages 40, 44, and 74.

5 Putting the system into operation
Initial startup
The disinfection system adds a disinfectant to the water (1:100) to significantly reduce the formation of microorganisms in the water system.
Prior to initial startup of your treatment center, sanita- tion must be performed.
If, upon agreement with you, the service engineer did not complete the sanitation procedure after installing your treatment center, or if sanitation has not been performed for over a week, please perform the sanitation yourself. Refer to the document "Care and Cleaning by the Practice Team" for more information.
Sanitation takes approx. 24 hours.
Main switch
Switch the main switch ON (I ).
During power-up, the treatment center automatically performs a self-test.
NOTICE
For safety reasons, always switch the treatment center OFF (O) after consulting hours. This cuts off the air and water supply as well as the line voltage.
Operational readiness
After the end of the self-test, the message READY the time and the last user selected (A or B) appear on the
display.
After the treatment center is switched on, the cursor is between the chair program keys 1 and 2. If a program LED is lit, then the chair was in a programmed position before the unit was switched off. If no program LED is lit, then the chair was in a non-programmed position before the unit was switched off.
The unit is now ready to operate.

This message can be reset only by the service engineer after performing maintenance.
WARNING
The dental chair has a maximum load capacity of 135 kg according to ISO 6875 (tested with multiple safety factors according to IEC 60601-1). The patient’s arms and legs must rest on the upholstery of the chair.
Preselecting the user
The treatment center offers the possibility of managing two different chair and instrument programs for two users.
Preselect user A or B using the A/B key, with all instruments in place.
The preselected user is shown in the top left corner of the display. All settings which have been stored for that user are then activated.

The treatment center can be operated with a wireless foot switch C+.
IMPORTANT
The service engineer already registered the wireless foot switch during the installation. If the registration has to be performed again, inform the service engineer and have him / her carry out the following steps.
For technical data of the wireless module, see "Foot switch wireless interface" on page 20.
Setting the wireless foot switch on the treatment center
The wireless foot switch must be assigned to the treatment center via registration. This prevents malfunctions caused by neighboring wireless foot switches.
The treatment center and wireless foot switch are
ready for operation.
All instruments are in place.
1. Remove the small bellows from the 4-way foot switch.
2. Remove the rear faceplate of the base. It has a plug connection to the lateral panels. If necessary, use a screwdriver to carefully pry the faceplates away from the panels.

IMPORTANT
Before positioning the patient on the headrest, make sure that the head support has been optimally adjusted to the patient's height. This simplifies all subsequent work with the MultiMotion considerably, since readjustment to the patient's height can thus be omitted when changing over from mandibular to maxillary treatment.
The MultiMotion enables you to adjust the patient's head in a way that optimally supports viewing of areas of the mouth which are difficult to access.
Adjustment of hyperextension
Mandibular position
The mandibular position can be set by pulling the operating handle (A). The anatomical movement of the arched extension keeps the patient's head in the support.
Pull the headrest out of the guide by pulling
handle A.
Tip
: You can reduce the adjustment noise by pressing
release A.

Removing the MultiMotion
For certain treatments (e.g. involving children) it may be appropriate to remove the MultiMotion completely in order to obtain better access to the patient. The patient's head will then be supported on the contact surface of the headrest extension F.
To remove the MultiMotion, proceed as follows:
1. Press release button C.
2. Pull the complete headrest out of the headrest
extension.
3. Cover the opening of the headrest extension with cover cap E.
4. If a children's head pad D is available, place it on the headrest extension. The head pad is held magnetically.
Tip: The children's head pad D is not included in the scope of supply; however, it is available from your dental dealer.
DANGER
The children's head pad D contains a strong magnet on its bottom side. This magnet could affect any
cardiac pacemaker located nearby. Therefore, do not allow patients, users, and technical personnel with a cardiac pacemaker to be located near this magnet. Furthermore, direct contact of the head pad with magnetic cards can lead to data loss.
NOTICE
Deposit the removed MultiMotion in a safe place where it
cannot fall onto the floor.
Inserting the MultiMotion
To insert the MultiMotion, proceed as follows:
1. Check the guide of the removed headrest for contamination. Remove any contamination.
2. Remove the cover cap E.
3. Reinsert the MultiMotion in the guide from above
until it audibly locks in place.
Pull on the headrest again to make sure that it is locked securely in place.

12.1 Positioning the assistant element
The assistant element can be swiveled to the side and to the front.
To do this grasp the assistant element laterally at the handpiece rack (1).
The ease of the swivel movement toward the front can be set with the knob (2).
CAUTION
Make sure that the backrest does not collide with the assistant element if you have positioned the latter in the movement range of the backrest.
Also make sure that the assistant element is not positioned above the patient when the chair moves upward (on contact with the patient, a safety switch stops the movement).
12.2 Instrument tray for closed deposits
The process of removing the instrument holder with closed suction handpiece holders is described in the document "Care and Cleaning by the Practice Team".
DANGER
The suction hose handpieces contain magnets. Body
contact of the suction hose handpiece near a cardiac pacemaker may have a disturbing effect on the functioning of the cardiac pacemaker.
Therefore avoid using the suction hose handpiece near cardiac pacemakers.
Furthermore, direct contact of the suction hose handpiece with magnetic cards can lead to data loss.
Suction hose handpieces with integrated magnets are marked with the following symbol:

12.5 Satelec Mini LED curing light
Safety instructions
The curing light contains powerful LEDs. In accordance with IEC 62471, they are classified in risk group 2 with the light bar removed.
CAUTION
• Do not stare into the beam path for longer periods when
operating, as this can cause eye damage.
• Do not under any circumstances stare into the beam
path when the light bar is removed.
• Do not look into the light reflected by the tooth surface.
• Do not observe the light aperture with optical instru-
ments which can decrease the beam cross-section (e.g. magnifying lenses).
• Use the glare shield!
• The light beams emitted by this instrument may be
hazardous and may never be directed to the eyes of any person, even if this person wears goggles with protective lenses.
• The light may be directed exclusively to the treatment
area in the oral cavity.
CAUTION
Heavy dips in the line voltage may lead to the Mini L.E.D. being switched off. The fault is reported by a double audible signal. Check the selected operating mode and restart the Mini LED.

WARNING
• Any condensation occurring in the handpiece of the Mini LED may cause impairments (e.g. fogging of the LED). If the handpiece is taken from a cool environment into a warm room then it may only be operated once it has reached room temperature.
• Curing lamps may not be used by individuals who suffer or who have suffered from photobiological reactions (including solar urticaria or erythropoietic porphyria) or by people who are currently taking medication (including methoxsalene or chlortetracycline) which increase sensitivity to light.
• People who have had operations on their retina, lens or eye in the past, in particular for cataracts, must consult their optician before using the lamp or being treated with the Mini L.E.D. Caution is advisable even if the patient gives his or her consent, since the light intensity can cause accidents.
• Wearing appropriate protective goggles at all times is advised in particular (UV filter).
Installation
1. Connect the supply cable to the treatment center.
2. Screw the handpiece on.
3. Attach the sterilized light guide to the handpiece.
Make sure to insert the light guide correctly.

Handling
After you switch on the treatment center, the Mini L.E.D. is by default in the quick curing mode (4.2).
If you change the operating mode of the Mini LED while the treatment center is in operation, the new mode remains valid even after the Mini LED is placed in its holder.
After you have selected a mode, the Mini LED is ready for operation.
Position the light guide as close as possible to the composite material surface you want to photopolymerize. Make sure that the light guide never touches the material to be cured, as this may cause damage to the light guide and reduce its effectiveness.
Never work without the glare shield (5).
Never look into the light which is reflected by the tooth surface.
To start the polymerization cycle, briefly press the ON / OFF switch (6). This is confirmed by an audible signal.
In each mode, an audible signal sounds every 5 seconds.
The end of the cycle is also indicated by an audible signal. You may interrupt the cycle at any time though by lightly pressing the ON / OFF switch.

The SIROCAM 3 intraoral camera combined with SIVISION 3 is a perfect system for effective communication with the patient.
The camera images cannot be used for diagnosis!
The SIROCAM 3 intraoral camera is a sensitive optical instrument and must therefore always be handled with care.
The camera illuminates the tooth areas to be imaged with 7 white-light LEDs (1).
These are arranged around the entrance prism (2).
The LEDs and the lens are protected by a scratch-proof antiglare glass cover.
CAUTION
* = Intermittent camera operation: t1= 1 min ON, t2 = 3 min OFF. The camera heats up during operation. To prevent overheating of the camera, the camera must be put down for a time interval t2 = 3 min after an operating time of t1 = 1 min.
The camera will heat up even when it is placed in its holder, as one of the states "black screen", "white screen" or "quad image" is always active.
The slide switch (3) is used for presetting the depth of focus.
The camera button (4) is intended for controlling different SIVISION 3 functions.
IMPORTANT
For camera operation and further information, please refer to the Operating Instructions of the SIROCAM 3.
IMPORTANT
The camera handpiece contains data that makes it possible to restore the factory-set color definitions regardless of the dental treatment center where the camera is used. Thus the camera can be used at different dental treatment centers. To customize the color settings, you can perform a white balance as long as the camera is active (see section "Mode: WHITE BALANCE" on page 68).
