The standard mobile crane type LTM 1055-3.1 with optional equipment for special requirements
High load capacities, an extraordinary mobility, comprehensive convenience and safety equipment as well as a practice-oriented transport concept for crane accessories and optional equipment characterize the standard mobile crane LTM 1055-3.1 from Liebherr, modied for the army.
The 3-axle, 55-tonner, positioned on outriggers or free on wheels, offers outstanding load capacities. The 32,5 m long, torsion-resistant telescopic boom lifts loads to 32 m height under hook at radii of up to 28 m. Supporting basis and counterweights are variable for a comprehensive application spectrum. High working speeds even permit the quick handling of loads. The safe load indicator LICCON guarantees fully automatic control of the crane performance in all operative ranges.
Outstanding performance
The LTM 1055-3.1 is compact and maneuverable, its operative weight is 36 tons with equal axle load distribution of 12 t per axle and the control of relocating and setting on outriggers is even possible from the crane cab. The modern LIASDRIVE provides a crane-specic, intelligent travel strategy for a smooth driving quality at economic fuel consumption.
High mobility and efficiency
Driver’s cab and crane operator’s cab are modern, ergonomically designed working places. The standard cabs can be interchanged with armoured versions within a few hours if required. And instead of the standard tyre equipment, special tyres with emergency running capabilities provide for an increased mobility.
Comprehensive equipment for convenience and safety
Containers are provided for the transport of the crane accessories and the optional equipment. All accessories and the optional equipment, required for everyday operation, are stowed in containers, loaded on lorries by the crane and are available for crane operation if required.

The Liebherr standard mobile crane LTM 1055-3.1 is designed for high performance. The in-house fabricated and eld-proven components such as Diesel engine, winch, slewing gear and slewing ring are especially laid out for the application on a mobile crane.
High load capacities, quick working cycles and sensitive operating motions permit perfect load handling. The telescopic boom of inherent stability is extended by the convenient single-ram telescoping system Telematik to the desired boom length. A multitude of telescoping variants permit optimal utilization of the telescopic boom’s capacity.
Thanks to the high output of the Diesel engine and the pump as well as to the regulated load-sensing control, four working motions can be performed independently of one another.
The LTM 1055-3.1 offers a variable supporting basis and is leveled automatically. The „key-hole method“ permits convenient control of ballasting the crane from the crane cab. 4,7 t or 7 t partial ballast and 12 t maximum ballast allow variable and economic performance of the crane interventions.
Even at a failure of the Diesel engine or of the hydraulic pump, the interrupted crane operation can be nalized by means of the hydraulic emergency set and the crane can be derigged into driving position.

Compact dimensions, high driving speeds of up 80 km/h and sensitive maneuvering as well as outstanding off-road mobility characterize the all-terrain mobile crane LTM 1055-3.1.
A modern and robust displacement drive technology in conjunction with an intelligent crane control warrants maximum mobility for very varied requirements. For the vehicle drive, the 50-tonner avails of a modern drive management. Liebherr Diesel engine, ZF transmission, eddy-current brake as well as the clutch and anti-lock device/automatic track control are interconnected by an intelligent data bus technology. A very high computer performance ensures a reliable co-ordination of the functional units and permits smooth road travel at economic fuel consumption.
The crane and road preserving suspension “Niveaumatik” guarantees stable cornering during fast driving on the road and offers excellent off-road capabilities.

The LTM 1055-3.1 provides for comprehensive convenience. During driving on the road, the spacious, silenced driver’s cab offers an excellent view. Driver’s and co-driver’s seats are pneumatically suspended, the steering wheel adjustable, the rear mirrors heatable and electrically adjustable.
As safety of the crane personnel comes rst during military interventions, the standard driver’s cab can be interchanged with an armoured version with integrated emergency roof exits. Rapid action couplings enable the easy interchange of the cabs within a few hours. Even with armoured cabs, the crane travels with a 12 t max. axle load.
In order to increase the mobility of the 55-tonner, the air pressure of all tyres can be reduced from 9 bar to 4 bar when not in motion. This increases the tyre contact surface by up to 60 % and the driving on soft and less bearing soil is safeguarded. The compressor of the braking system enables the re-pressurizing of the tyre to 9 bar. Instead of the standard tyre equipment, it is also possible to t tyres with emergency running capabilities. In case of a tyre puncture, a fabric-reinforced solid-rubber ring attached to the rim prevents the tyre from slipping off, so that a distance of 10 kilometres can still be covered at speeds of up to 25 km/h.

Accessory container with weatherprotecting tarpaulins
For the various crane operations in the military arena, comprehensive accessories for load handling and an optional equipment for the protection of the crane personnel on critical territory is available for the LTM 1055-3.1.
The transport of these accessories takes place in special containers, the dimensions of which are adapted to the transport vehicles. The 20’ standard container for crane accessories carries the hook block, ballast, spare wheel, spacers, chain suspension tackle in light-gauge and heavy-gauge version, various hooks and expanding struts as well as the 20’ spreader with automatic positioning device for loads of up to 30.5 tons. By means of the adapter for the expanding struts and the heavy-gauge chain tackle, loaded 20’, 30’ and 40’ containers can be handled.
For the transport of a driver’s cab or a crane cab each in standard of armoured version another 20’ container is available.
Equally, the hydraulic emergency set and 6 special tyres with Hutchinson emergency running system are transported in containers of special dimension.
All transport containers are equipped with weather-protecting tarpaulins.
