Adjusting with the Brightness Dial on the Console

Adjust the brightness of the image by adjusting the shutter
speed (Auto shutter). If the object is dark, the controller will
automatically increase the gain.
1 Adjust the brightness by turning the BRIGHTNESS
dial on the console.
Turning right brightens the image and turning left darkens
the image.
The gain increases automatically when the BRIGHTNESS
dial is turned to the right past the five-sixths position (about
3 o'clock).
Auto shutter
Normally, the microscope is used in Auto shutter mode. The
shutter speed will automatically adjust according to the
BRIGHTNESS dial.
Gain
Gain is a function that electrically amplifies the video signal
in the internal circuitry.
The position of the BRIGHTNESS dial controls the level of
amplification or gain.
The gain is increased automatically when the
BRIGHTNESS dial is turned to the right past the five-sixths
position (about 3 o'clock).
If the picture quality degrades because of increased noise,
change to supercharge shutter control.

Changing Between Gain and Supercharge Shutter

1 Press the [GAIN/SHUTTER] button on the console.
The dial now functions as the supercharge shutter
control and the GAIN/SHUTTER indicator begins to
flash.
Press the [GAIN/SHUTTER] button again to return to
gain control.

Enhancing Resolution and Increasing Gradation
7

Enhancing Resolution and Increasing Gradation

Parts that are difficult to inspect under normal observation can be observed in great detail with the high resolution HDR
function.

About high resolution HDR

With high resolution observation and the HDR function
together, details that are too small to be seen under normal
optical observation can be observed.
Improving Images

About high resolution Observation

Acquiring sharpen images than normal by employing the
shortest wavelength of visible light, blue light.

About HDR

The HDR function captures multiple frames of an image in
varying degrees of brightness by varying the shutter speed.
These are composed into a single high-resolution image.
Capturing a broader brightness spectrum reproduces
images of objects that cause glare with greater accuracy. It
also increases the level of detail seen in the image by
increasing the levels of color gradation.
The HDR function cannot be used with the following functions. Cancel these functions before using the HDR function: Glare removal, Shake correction mode, nonnormal recording sizes.

Gamma correction
This section explains how the gamma correction corrects
the contrast of the light or dark areas of an image.
Gamma correction works as follows:
Dragging the slider to
the left emphasizes
the contrast and
gradation of the bright
areas.
• This is useful for increasing the contrast of images that appear saturated white or lack gray-scale definition because they are too light.
Dragging the slider to
the right emphasizes
the contrast and
gradation of the dark
areas.
• This is useful for increasing the contrast of images that lack gray-scale definition because they are too dark.
This section explains the edge enhancement effect. Edge
enhance makes scratches and minute features more
noticable by emphasizing the edges in the image.
Edge enhance function cannot be used together with the relief function of "enhancement effect".
This shows the effects of edge enhancement.
