Models: AVR65 AM/FM Receiver, North America (120v) version
Subject: Hum or Buzz in loudspeakers
In the event you receive an AVR65 with the complaint of “There is a hum or buzz coming from the
peakers in one or more channels”, perform the necessary steps listed below: s
1. Disconnect all external cables including power cord.
2. Remove the (14) screws holding the top cover to the receiver; remove cover.
3. Locate Fuses FU481 & FU482; they are on the Main PCB in the right front quadrant of the receiver.
4. Remove and discard FU481 and FU482 and replace with h/k part# FS1067, (2A Slo-Blo 5 x 20mm
GMC type).
5. Replace the top cover; set the unit on its side on a padded surface.
6. Remove the (8) screws holding the bottom grille screen in place.
7. Locate power supply capacitors C481/C482 and IC482 (See diagrams); they are located in the right
front quadrant of the Main PCB.
8. Solder an insulated 16 - 20 gauge (0.5 to 1.0 mm
on C481/C482 (8200 63v) and the ground lead on IC482 (-15v regulator).
9. Replace bottom screen; re-connect all external cables and test the receiver.
