This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of
the device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not
dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it
should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device
should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling
service. Respect the local environmental rules.
Keep this device away from dust and extreme temperatures.
Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when
operating the device.
Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using
it.
All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage
caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the

Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an
unauthorised way will void the warranty.

Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not
covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for
any ensuing defects or problems.
Do not switch the device on immediately after it has been exposed to
changes in temperature. Protect the device against damage by leaving it
switched off until it has reached room temperature.
Readings may be affected if the unit is operated within a radio frequency
electromagnetic field strength of about 3 V/m, but the performance of
the instrument will not be permanently affected.
Note: in an EM field of 3 V/m from 350 to 550 MHz, the maximum error
is 8 °C (14.4 °F).
Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.
Keep this manual for future reference.

6. Operation
Aim the infrared lens [3] at the target and press the measurement
key [5] to display the target’s surface temperature. A red laser spot
appears on the target during measurement.

Batteries OK: measurements are possible.
Batteries low: batteries need to be replaced, but measurements
are still possible.
Batteries exhausted: batteries need to be replaced, measurements
are no longer possible.
A malfunction may occur if you replace the batteries while the
device is on. In this case, reset the device. See ‘Troubleshooting’
for more information.
Warning: Do not puncture batteries or throw them in fire as they
may explode. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable
batteries (alkaline). Dispose of batteries in accordance with local
regulations. Keep batteries away from children.
‘Hi’ or ‘Lo’ is displayed when the temperature being measured
is outside of the range of the device (see ‘Technical
Specifications’).
The distance-to-target ratio is 8:1. This means that, for example, at
8 cm, the target must be larger than 1 cm to get a proper measurement.
Make sure the target area is within this field of view.
The device can measure temperatures in °C or °F. Press the mode
key [2] while the device is on to switch between measurement units. The
corresponding symbol (°C or °F) appears on the display.
The maximum measured value is always shown at the bottom of the
display, next to the ‘MAX’ indicator.
When you release the measurement key [5], the hold mode is
automatically activated: the last measurement value remains on the
display until you press the measurement key again, or until the device
shuts off automatically (after approx. 15 seconds).
Note that the display is always on, while the laser is only on during
measurement.
7. Batteries
This device is battery-operated, using 2 type AAA 1.5 V batteries.
It incorporates a low battery indicator as follows:
To replace the batteries, proceed as follows:
1. Wait until the device powers off automatically (about 15 s).
2. Open the battery compartment by sliding the battery cover [6]
downwards.
3. Replace the batteries by two new type AAA 1.5 V batteries.
4. Slide the battery cover back in place.

‘Er2’ is displayed when the device is exposed to rapid changes
in ambient temperature. Allow the device to reach the ambient
temperature for at least 30 minutes.
‘Er3’ is displayed when the ambient temperature is outside of
the
0–50 °C range (32–122 °F). Allow the device to reach the
ambient temperature for at least 30 minutes.
Er5–9. For all other errors, it is necessary to reset the device.
To reset, proceed as follows:
1. Wait until the device powers off automatically (about 15 s).
2. Remove the batteries and wait for at least 1 minute.
3. Reinsert the batteries and press the measurement button.
Note: If the error persists, contact your dealer for service.

9. Cleaning and Maintenance
The sensor lens [3] is the most delicate part of the device and it shall be
kept clean at all times. To do this, only use a soft cloth or cotton bud
with a little water or medical alcohol.
Allow the lens to fully dry before using the device.
Wipe the other parts of the device regularly with a moist, lint-free cloth.
Do not use alcohol or solvents.
Do not submerge the device in water or any other liquid.
There are no user-serviceable parts. Contact your dealer for spare parts
if necessary.
The device shall be stored between –20 °C and +65 °C (–4 °F to
+149 °F).

1. Inleiding

2. Veiligheidsinstructies
Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het
na zijn levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan
toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele
batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij
een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet

Richt de laserstraal nooit op personen of dieren. Richt de
laserstraal nooit op reflecterende oppervlakken. Bekijk een
laserstraal nooit met een optisch instrument, zoals een verrekijker
of een microscoop.
Houd dit toestel buiten het bereik van kinderen en onbevoegden.
Bescherm het toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende
vloeistoffen. Plaats nooit objecten gevuld met vloeistof op of naast
het toestel.
3. Algemene richtlijnen
Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze
handleiding.
Bescherm dit toestel tegen stof en extreme temperaturen.
Bescherm het toestel tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de
bediening.
Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.
Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het
toestel. Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan
het toestel, valt niet onder de garantie.
Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt
automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.
De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde
richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid
afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.
Het is beter om het toestel niet onmiddellijk in te schakelen nadat het
werd blootgesteld aan temperatuurschommelingen. Om beschadiging te
vermijden, moet u wachten tot het toestel kamertemperatuur heeft
bereikt.
Elektromagnetische velden en radiofrequenties van ongeveer 3 V/m
kunnen de uitlezing beïnvloeden. De werking van het toestel zal echter
niet permanent verstoord worden.
Opmerking: in een elektromagnetisch veld van 3 V/m van 350 tot
550 MHz, is de maximale fout 8 °C.
Gebruik de oorspronkelijke verpakking wanneer u het toestel vervoert.
Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

5. Overzicht
6. Gebruik
Richt de infraroodlens [3] op het te meten punt en druk op de meetknop
[5] om de oppervlaktetemperatuur van het voorwerp weer te geven.
Tijdens de meting verschijnt er een rode stip op het meetpunt.
De verhouding afstand/meetpunt bedraagt 8:1. Dit betekent dat, bij een
meetafstand van 8 cm, het voorwerp groter moet zijn dan 1 cm. Zorg
ervoor dat het meetpunt binnen deze waarden blijft.
Het toestel geeft de temperatuur weer in zowel °C als in °F. Om de
meeteenheid te selecteren, schakel de thermometer in en druk op de
'mode'-knop [2]. Op de display verschijnt °C of °F.
De gemeten maximumwaarde verschijnt altijd onderaan de display,
naast het symbool 'MAX'.
De ‘hold’-functie wordt automatisch ingeschakeld van zodra u de
meetknop [5] loslaat. De laatst gemeten waarde blijft op de display
weergegeven tot u een nieuwe meting uitvoert of tot de thermometer
zich automatisch uitschakelt (na ong. 15 sec.).
Merk op dat de achtergrondverlichting zich altijd inschakelt. De laser
blijft enkel ingeschakeld tijdens de meting.

Batterij OK: metingen mogelijk.
Zwakke batterij: vervang de batterij, metingen mogelijk.
Lege batterij: geen metingen mogelijk, vervang de batterij.
Bij het vervangen van de batterij van een nog ingeschakelde
thermometer kunnen zich storingen voordoen. Herstart het toestel.
Voor meer informatie, zie 'Probleemoplossing'.
Waarschuwing: U mag batterijen nooit doorboren of in het vuur
gooien (explosiegevaar). Herlaad geen alkalinebatterijen. Gooi
batterijen weg volgens de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving. Houd
batterijen uit het bereik van kinderen.
Display geeft ‘Hi’ of ‘Lo’ weer indien de gemeten temperatuur
zich buiten het bereik van het toestel bevindt (zie ‘Technische
specificaties’).
Display geeft ‘Er2’ weer indien de thermometer is blootgesteld
aan een plotse wisseling van de omgevingstemperatuur. Wacht
gedurende een 30-tal minuten tot de thermometer op
kamertemperatuur gekomen is.
Display geeft ‘Er3’ weer wanneer de omgevingstemperatuur
lager is dan 0 °C of hoger is dan +50 °C. Wacht gedurende
een 30-tal minuten tot de thermometer op kamertemperatuur
gekomen is.
Er5–9. Herstart het toestel bij alle andere foutmeldingen. Om
te resetten, gaat u als volgt te werk:
1. Wacht totdat het toestel automatisch uitschakelt (ongeveer
15 s).
2. Verwijder de batterijen en wacht minstens 1 minuut.
3. Plaats de batterijen terug en druk op de meetknop.
Opmerking: Neem contact op met uw dealer indien de
foutmelding opnieuw verschijnt.
7. Batterijen
Dit toestel functioneert met 2 x 1.5 V AAA-batterijen. De thermometer is
uitgerust met een zichtbare aanduiding bij zwakke batterij:
Om de batterijen te vervangen, gaat u als volgt te werk:
1. Wacht totdat het toestel automatisch uitschakelt (ongeveer 15 s).
2. Open het batterijvak door het dekseltje [6] naar beneden te schuiven.
3. Vervang de batterijen door 2 nieuwe 1.5 V AAA-batterijen.
4. Sluit het batterijvak door het dekseltje op zijn plaats te schuiven.
