TERMS OF USE: It is the customer’s responsibility to follow local country regulations, including operation within legal frequency channels, output power, indoor cabling requirements, and Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirements.
Installation Requirements
• Pre‑installed electrical wall box
Category 5 (or above) UTP cabling approved for indoor use
• Phillips screwdriver
• UniFi Switch or 802.3.af switch
System Requirements
• Microsoft Windows 7/8 or Mac OS X
Java Runtime Environment 1.6 (or above)
Web Browser: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft

Hardware Overview
Data
PoE Out + Data Reset
PoE In + Data
PoE Out + Data 10/100 Ethernet port supports data and PoE.
Used to connect an 802.3af device to the LAN.
Data 10/100 Ethernet port supports data only. Used to
connect a client device to the LAN.
PoE In + Data 10/100 Ethernet port supports data and
PoE. Connect this port to the LAN and DHCP server via an
802.3afswitch.
Reset The Reset button serves two functions for the UAP-IW:
Restart Press and release the Reset button quickly.
Restore to Factory Default Settings Press and hold the
Reset button for more than five seconds.

LED Color Status
White
Factory default, waiting to be integrated.
Flashing White
Initializing.
Alternating White/Blue
Device is busy; do not touch or unplug it. This usually indicates that a process such
as a firmware upgrade is taking place.
Blue
Indicates the device has been successfully integrated into a network and is working properly.
Quickly Flashing Blue
This is used to locate an AP.
When you click Locate in the UniFi Controller software, the AP will flash. It will also display the location of the AP on
the map.
Steady Blue with occasional flashing
Indicates the device is in an isolated state
(all WLANs are brought down until an uplink is found).
Hardware Installation
An electrical wall box should be pre‑installed with an Ethernet
cable running from the box to an 802.3af switch.
1. Detach the Cover Plate from the UAP-IW.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable in the wall box to the port
labeled PoE IN + DATA.
