► NEVER immerse the appliance in water or other liquids! This
would bring about the risk of a potentially fatal electric
shock upon the next use of the appliance should moisture be
present in the voltage conducting elements.
► Always take hold of the plug when handling the power
cable. Do not pull on the cable itself and never touch the
power cable with wet hands, this could result in either a

as chopping boards, knives, etc., are clean.
■ Wash your hands, especially before and after handling raw poultry or
minced meat!
■ Clean all surfaces and cooking utensils carefully after preparing raw poultry
and minced meat.
■ In order to minimise germ formation during preparation, minced meat should
have a core temperature of at least 75°C.
However, the setting options on this appliance are variable, so that you can
also set higher or lower core temperatures, depending on your own taste.
However, minced meat should always be eaten well-cooked.
■ 8 │ GB

■ With poultry, it is particularly important to cook the meat thoroughly; other-
wise, there is an increased risk of salmonella and other bacteria. Therefore,
poultry should have a core temperature of at least 75°C or higher. Make
sure that the colour of the meat is whitish throughout. The setting options on
this appliance are variable, so that you can also set higher or lower core
temperatures, depending on your own taste. However, poultry should always
be eaten well-cooked.
Deep-frozen foods
■ Ideally, frozen food should be defrosted in the refrigerator. This is more
gentle on the food and reduces germ formation.
■ The liquid from thawed meat, poultry or fish may be contaminated with
germs. Take care to avoid contact with other foods during defrosting and
dispose of the thawed water hygienically.
■ Never refreeze thawed foods!
■ Process thawed foods the same day!

Cooking times
The following values are rough guideline values for grilling in the contact grill
position. However, depending on the nature of the food or your personal
preferences, the values may vary. Adjust them to your needs, if necessary.
– fully open so that both hotplates q can be used as a table grill.– with a movable upper hotplate q as a contact grill so that, for instance,
meat is grilled from both sides.
– with a fixed upper hotplate q as a panini grill, for instance, for cooking
cheese-topped baguettes.
“Contact grill” position
1) Open the appliance lid and place the food you want to grill on the lower
hotplate q.
2) Close the appliance lid using the handle.
3) Thanks to the movable hinges of the upper hotplate q, it always lies parallel to the lower hotplate q, even when grilling thicker foods. This guarantees an optimal grilling result.
4) Check the browning of the grilled food after a short while and after the
timer has expired. To do this, open the appliance lid using the handle.
5) If you are satisfied with the level of browning, remove the food.
6) Press the On/Off button

Monitoring the core temperature
CAUTION
Damage to the appliance!
► Never place the grill thermometer r on the hot hotplates q. The cable
and the handle of the grill thermometer r could be irreparably damaged!
NOTE
► Store the clean grill thermometer r in the holder 4 on the right next to
the socket 5.
► Place the used grill thermometer r next to the appliance. For example,
provide a heat-resistant tray next to the appliance to place the used grill
thermometer r on.
1) Insert the plug of the grill thermometer r into the socket 5.
2) Select a programme or set the desired core temperature manually as
described in the section “Operating the appliance”.
3) If necessary, let the appliance preheat until the hotplates q have reached
the set temperature.
4) Push the tip of the grill thermometer r as far as possible into the centre of
the food whose core temperature you want to monitor. Make sure that the
grill thermometer r does not touch any bone, because the temperature
of the bone rises faster during cooking compared to that of the meat.
5) The core temperature rises gradually during the grilling process. The current
temperature is shown on the thermometer display E.
As soon as the set core temperature is reached, the appliance will beep
continuously. Press any button to turn off this alarm.

NOTE
► The appliance does not switch off automatically when it reaches the core

Tips and tricks
■ To make meat more tender and speed up the grilling process, you can mar-
inate it beforehand. For example, you can use a marinade based on sour
cream, red wine, vinegar, buttermilk or fresh papaya or pineapple juice. Add
herbs and spices according to taste. Do not add salt as this can draw water
out of the meat and make it dry. Place the meat in the marinade so that it is
completely covered and close the container. Ideally, leave it overnight.
■ The hotplates q have a non-stick coating, making extra fat unnecessary.
If you still wish to use fat, please ensure that the fat/oil is suitable for
grill-roasting, e.g. rapeseed oil.
■ Whenever possible, always grill with the lid closed to shorten the cooking
time and save energy.
Cleaning and care
WARNING! RISK OF FATAL ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Risk of bodily injury when cleaning the appliance!
To avoid risks, observe the following safety instructions:
► Before cleaning, pull out the plug and wait until the appliance has complete-
ly cooled down. Risk of injury!
► Never clean the appliance under running water and never immerse it in
water. The appliance could be irreparably damaged!
CAUTION
Damage to the appliance!
► To avoid irreparable damage to the appliance, ensure that no moisture
can get into the appliance during cleaning.
► Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaners to clean the surfaces of the
appliance. Also avoid using sharp or scratchy objects.
■ Once they have cooled down, drag the cleaning scraper e over the hotplates
q to collect grease and residues and then push them into the fat drip tray 9.
■ Wipe the hotplates q with a damp cloth. Do not use any harsh cleaning
agents, rough sponges or sharp objects for cleaning as these could damage
the non-stick coating.

for a while. After washing, rinse the hotplates q with fresh water to remove
all detergent residues. Dry everything properly. The hotplates q must be dry
before you put them back in the appliance!
NOTE
The hotplates q are dishwasher-safe. For gentle cleaning, we
recommend that you wash them by hand, as described above.
To refit the hotplates q, place them onto the base so that the two notches
next to the fat outlet 0 grip onto the hooks on the base. Then press down
the front part of the hotplate q until you hear it engage.
Proceed in the same way with the second hotplate q.
■ Wipe the surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth. If necessary, apply
a mild detergent to the cloth. Afterwards, wipe the appliance with a cloth
moistened only with water to remove any detergent residues. Ensure that all
parts are completely dry before reusing the appliance.
■ Wipe the grill thermometer r with a damp cloth. For more stubborn dirt,
add a little detergent to the cloth. Afterwards, remove any detergent residues
by wiping it off again with a cloth moistened with fresh water only. Dry the
grill thermometer r well afterwards.
■ Clean the cleaning scraper e in warm water with a little washing-up liquid.
Rinse any remaining detergent off with fresh water.
